'June Bug' 2.5” Oh Sew Sweet ‘CANDY’ swap!!!!
 

For those who love “Candy” aka: 2.5” Postage Stamp Charms :D!

***Sign up Closes May 15, 2015***

YES we call it CANDY, but this swap is not the “candy” you eat. We trade 2.5" squares (another size of postage stamp) in sets of 50 different 100% cotton fabrics. Limit is 15 cotton “Candy” sets per swapper.

Also, you can choose to do a ‘CANDY Twist’ of BATIKS! These will be 2.5” squares of 10 different BATIKS. Twist limit is 10 sets of Batiks “Candy”.

PM me your information (Real name and address) to sign up, and let me know how many sets (and twists, if you choose) you would like to swap.

Sign-ups close May 15, 2015. Sets are due to me by June 1, 2015. I will then swap them out, and get them back to you!

:D Use quality 100% cottons only! NO flannels, NO polys, NO homespun, NO eyelets. If in doubt of fiber content, leave it out! PLEASE SEND WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO RECEIVE. BE SELECTIVE AND BE CAREFUL TO SEND ONLY 100% COTTON.

:D All sets do not need to be identical. You can use what is in your stash! Each set does need to contain the right amount of DIFFERENT squares. (50 DIFFERENT cottons and/or 10 DIFFERENT Batiks) Please double check your counts…then count again. Remember, MORE is better than less.

:D MAKE SURE to trim off selvages before cutting your squares. Also try to be accurate in your cutting of the squares, so they DO measure 2.5".

:D Put each set of DIFFERENT 50 (or 10 for BATIKS) squares in its own small, snack size baggies. LABEL each baggie with your board name and state you are from. For example, my baggies will say: SheriR – Texas

:D Put all your sets in a larger baggie with your board name, real name and address. This way if your envelope gets damaged the PO can return the contents to you.

:D Include for me an address label with your return information so I can easily stick it on your return envelope.

:D Include $5.70 for return postage. Tracking Confirmation is free when I print the labels at the USPS.com site. I will not return your swaps until I have exact postage from you to cover the charges. I WILL NOT ACCEPT PERSONAL CHECKS! You can send me A PO Money order, cash or stamps, concealed in your package which ever you prefer. (NOT metered postage as some of these expire before I can get the packages back to you.) ALSO…if you send stamps, send $6.00 worth, it costs more to mail this way. Printing from the USPS site saves money but I can’t use your stamps, I have to pay.

:D Mail your swaps to me anyway you choose. If you use the PO flat rate envelopes I would reinforce the seams with tape so they’re more durable while being shipped.

:D *PLEASE* You must send TO me WITH a Confirmation/Tracking Number. This will alleviate any questions as to where your swap is.

:D I will return your swapped “Candy” in a bubble padded USPS Flat Rate Envelope which I order from USPS for free.

If your sets cost more than what you sent me, I have no choice to hold them until I get the difference. Thanks for your understanding.

Sheri, am I reading this right..only 10 batik squares per bag and that's 1 set?

I had a couple of swappers approach me about collecting the 20 and the price of finding 20 DIFFERENT batiks each month. The swap was mainly to reduce ones stash, I never meant for ladies to HAVE to purchase for the swap. Soooooo I thought I'd try the 10/10 instead of 5/20 this time. Both equal 100. So let's see how it goes this time. :D

I'm ready to do this next swap. I will do 15 sets of the cotton. I will pm you my info. Thanks Sheri for doing this again. I so look forward to these swaps.

I have a question about etiquette. For the March Madness 2.5 inch swap and the 2.5 in birthday swap, I cut 100 fabrics, 50 for the March Madness and 50 for the birthday swap. I know that several people did both and didn't want them to receive duplicate packages from me. I now have several extra sets from all the cutting I did for those swaps. Is it ok to use those squares for this 2.5 inch swap or would it be bad form since people might get the same package from me (but from a different swap)?

n10sgrrl, I did both swaps last year. I made a list of the people who did the candy swap and I cut different fabric for them for their birthday swap fabric. I don't know how you could make sure the candy swap people don't get repeats, but you CAN control which fabric you send to the birthday people. I hope this is helpful...

I already have all the birthday candies cut and sorted. I just had a few packages leftover, so I thought about using them in this swap. I'll wait and see how many birthday swappers join this swap. I can always sit this swap out, to avoid people getting the same set of fabrics.

Ladies, I have you all down. I've just been super busy and haven't had time to sit and answer individually. My daughter's golf team won their regional playoff and we're going to nationals in Orlando in May!!!! Soooo excited!!! I made her coach a little throw from the Senior girls on the team. We had them for dinner Sunday evening and my daughter presented it to him. I'll get organized and post a swapper list asap!!!

I've made a chart of all my swappers and the birthday swappers too, since I'm in that one as well. Mark your birthday bags and I'll try to give them to non birthday swappers. :D

Just returned from my BABY's graduation from University of Texas at Tyler. Now she's set her eyes on earning her Masters. I'm so proud of her!! ...my baby :D (We leave May 11 for Orlando to watch her team golf at Nationals!! SOOooooo exciting!!)

I had no idea how much cutting that meant! Think I can wrap it up in a couple of hours.

One 2.5" strip x WOF should cross cut into your 15 pieces, one for each of 15 bags. So you can cut strips of your fabrics or use strips you already have, or cut up scraps. Luckily my 2.5" strip drawer was full so I was able to cut all new squares from those strips fairly fast. I piled the strips up about 6 thicknesses tall before cross cutting.

Glad you liked my Swoon. Thinking about doing another one....

3a.m. are you nuts lady? hee hee that's what my hubby asks me when I wake up and can't go back to sleep. He knows the sewing room is calling. Probably like you, I wake up from a "quilt dream" and have to see if it is even possible. Dum things we do huh???
