June Postcard Swap, Come join us for the fun! :)
FABRIC POSTCARD SWAP
Come join us in trading Fabric Postcards. Be creative, inventive, try out new skills, embellishments, have fun. It's a wonderful mini project. There are lots of online resources available with all sorts of ideas, inspiration and tutorials . We will have a general theme each month. Please mail your fabric postcards by the 20th of each month. (This is a hard deadline!) Theme, In the Good Ol' Summertime. Whatever kicks off your summer celebration. Or, whatever brings summer to mind for you. Have fun. :) Please PM me with thefollowing: •QB screen name •Real name •Address/city/state/zip •Are you willing to mail internationally? This is not meant to be a Secret Pal kind of swap. Once I have everyone partnered up, I will post the QB names on the thread then will send along the above information by PM to the respective swappers. Some required details: •Postcards must be 4” x 6” •They must have a finished edge. •Your postcard needs to be at least either pieced or appliqued plus whatever you want to add to that. *If you add a lot of embellishment, you may need to enclose your handmade postcard in a clear mailing envelope (available at the big box stores and online) in order for the USPS to handle it/mail it and so your postcard doesn’t get caught in their equipment. •Your postcard must have adequate postage. Do not send something that will require the recipient to have to pay postage due. •Please let me and your postcard recipient know that you have RECEIVED your postcard. •Most of all, have fun! Please, we want this swap to be fun. Just as a reminder, it is up to you to make sure your partner receives your postcard. Use an envelope if in doubt. Make sure your return address is on there. If you have not fulfilled you obligation you will not be allowed to join the swap the following month. If you do not fulfill your obligation, you will leave me no choice but to leave negative feedback. |

Do these postcards have a paper backing?
|
Suzy, some people use a sturdy cardstock for the back and some people use muslin. It's really up to you. There is no right or wrong way. There are lots of tutorials on Pinterest and Google if your interested in a bit more info.

Updated player list. Just a couple more days to participate. Remember ladies, if you have not sent me your personal info by pm, to please get that to me by the end of the month. If you have participated the last few months and your address has not changed at all, I have your info.
Judith1005 cuppy dfelker JuneBillie Nelco nana20010 Dee7683 Armylady2012 zinnia I have had so much fun working on my postcard today. I need to run out tomorrow for posterboard before I can finish. I'm working on a new design. But, It is almost ready to go out. I hope whoever I get doesn't mind it being slightly bigger then 4 x 6. It's just a bit. I had a little glitch getting it to come out to the perfect size. I am pleased with it though. It's exactly as I designed it. I just love it when I can get my ideas to come to completion. I can't wait to see what you ladies come up with for The Good Ol' Summertime. Will it be a trip to the beach or a hike in the mountains, playing with bubbles with the grands, or flying a kite, or, maybe a picnic or BBQ. Or growing flowers and veggies in the garden. There are just so many summery ideas. I look forward to a peak into your summer "trip". :D Just a head's up, next month's theme is Fourth of July or Red*White*Blue. At the moment, we don't have any International players. But, if we did, share your July traditions with us. "Treat" us to a look at your country. |
Thanks Judith for all the encouragement, and info. :)

Okay Ladies, I know some of you would like to know the themes ahead of time. So, here are the themes for the rest of the year. I hope you'll keep coming back and playing with us.
July, 4th of July, Independence Day, Red*White*Blue August, Our Feathered Friends, Anything to do with Birds. Any kind of bird. If it has feathers, it fits the bill of birds. September, (Sept. 10) Sewing Machine Day, So, In the Sewing Room is the theme. However you want to interpret it. (Piecing, Applique, Fabric etc.) October, Halloween or Fall, PLEASE DEFER TO YOUR PARTNER. Where I adore Halloween, my partner may not. I will defer to HER wish. I also will not make her make me Halloween if she is against the Holiday. I will try to match up appropriately as well. November, Sweet Treats, (cakes, cookies, pies, donuts, jelly rolls, ect.) What would you love to end your Thanksgiving meal with? Do you love a sweet treat with your Coffee or Tea or Cider? December, Winter NOT Christmas unless your partner wishes to have Christmas. We all celebrate differently. We ALL place a different emphasis on the holiday. Winter to me would be forest trees, animals, snow, snowman, snowflakes, sledding etc. Feel free to expand on my suggestions. I would love to hear your take of what winter is. |
Sounds like a fun rest of year. Lots of time to create some interesting postcards.
|

But we have an uneven amount this month. So I had to mix it up just a little. I sure hope we get a few more players soon. I do so love making these postcards. I hope yall don't get tired of making them. I just love the different themes. It pushes me to try new styles of quilting or try a project that I have been wanting to do but, doing it on very small scale. I think this is my favorite swap of all and would love to eventually have a postcard from each one of you. Have fun this month ladies. |
Great to see the list.
I worked quite a bit on mine last night. Have fun everyone! :) |
Hi everyone, I think I have all the addresses out. If you have any questions or if you do not have your address, please, let me know. As always, have fun. I look forward to seeing all your little works of art.
My postcard is ready to go. Partner, (cuppy) take your time. I will mail whenever you want me to. I just wanted to have mine done because, my daughter will be calling me into baby sit when she goes into labor. Baby Kaylynn is due anytime in the next couple of weeks. I will know more by Friday. My daughter lives in NC. So, I'm hoping to make it in time to be there. I'm so excited. I can't wait to see my grands! |

Nelco, that sounds great with me too. Take your time, and glad to have you as my partner. :) I still have a lot of stitching to do on yours. I will be slower here on out as I try to work some too on my June Mini Quilt. I sure hope good things happen with what you enter into the county fair. Let us all know.
