Welcome to Quilting in the New Year Swap – June 2011

Sign up deadline: June 18, 2011

This is a swap that would enable you to be paired up with another ‘Quilting Pal’ and swap a quilted item that each has made. It can be either machine or hand quilted. The Quilting Pals would know who each other is and can chat about their projects throughout the whole month. Projects swapped do not need to be the same item - so you can make whatever you make best. This would just be for June 2011. You would be signing up for one month at a time.

Beginner quilters as well as experienced quilters are invited to join. Every attempt will be made to match you up with a quilter who is at the same level of experience. (If an experienced quilter would like to be matched with a beginner and to be his/her mentor, please let me know.)

If you are international, feel free to join!

If you are interested in joining, please send me a Private message with the following information.

Screen Name:
Real Name:
Address:
Level of Quilting Experience:
Can you mail international?
Type of Project you'd like to make:
Do you smoke or have in house Pets:
Allergies:

This form will be given to your swap partners. Partners may choose to exchange additional information about such things as color preferences, specific type of project, etc. Partners are reminded that this is a swap. Please avoid issuing too many specifications as though you were placing an order with a commercial business. The elements of mystery and surprise are at least half the fun.

The cost limit on this is to be $15 (USA) excluding postage.

Sign up will close June 18, 2011. The names will be paired up by June 19, 2011. Partners are responsible for keeping in touch during the month to keep each other updated on the progress of the project. Anyone not completing and sending projects - will be given a poor swap rating and not be able to participate in this swap in the future,

All of the standard rules that apply to swaps apply. The rules were updated on 8 Dec 2010, so please make sure to check them before signing up.
http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-20154-1.htm

In addition:
Neither project will be sent out/exchanged until both are done. Partners will agree on a specific date on which each will put their package into the mail. Unless otherwise agreed by both partners, the projects should all be done and in the mail by July 25, 2011. You must notify coordinator when all items have been shipped and received so records can be updated.

This project has been approved by PatriceJ.

Just a reminder - whenever you are deciding on a project - You and your partner DO NOT have to make the same type of item - so share whatever you make best. Just have fun!!!!!

I would also add....and/or make whatever you are comfortable with making. This is a fun swap and most everybody will be accommodating on what you make. Chat with your partner about it, etc.

Sending you a PM.

Yes welcome to our group to DBrooks and Lbaillie - both new swappers to our group. You will find we are quite friendly and love to chat and send sneak peaks at the projects. I'm sure you will have fun.

Will think about this a little longer. I love this swap, but think I'm a little overcommited with the IRR and 3 row robins at the moment. Will thhink some more, and let you know. May just have to sit this month out.Sob..sob..sob..

Remember that the p;rojects don't have to be large ones. even a small mug rug or perhaps exchange a block or two.

dream56 06-08-2011 04:06 PM

We do understand Lindyline - if you sit out we will miss you, although we would love to have you with us again.

Hi Everyone

I find myself unable to register for the June & July swaps. Wes' oldest son and family are coming home mid-June through mid-July. As I do not want to let his grand daughter on either of my machines I will be "hiding" them before they get here. Not being mean, just can't afford to replace if they get damaged.

Anyway, will continue to watch posts and see all the lovely items I have to miss out on and will keep my eyes peeled for August. Bonni will make sure I see it in August :)

Happy Quilting

Connie

Sorry to see you not being able to join us Connie. I know that you'd rather be doing that then overseeing family. J/K (kinda). :) Yeppers. I will make sure you see the August sign up and show off all the other stuff that I get in between now and then. Gotta keep up your interest you know.

I'll do my best to make it so.

So happy to add sherylb to our growing list of swappers.

Reminder - you can swap whatever you want to make. You have approx a month to make the item. So it can be anything from a potholder, tote, wallhanging, table runner, sweatshirt, mug rug, pin cushion, etc. Ideas are endless.

The important thing is to build new friendships along the way too.

Also you don't have to make the same thing your partner is making. I know that I have received a tote bag before but there isn't any way I know how to make one. It didn't stop me from enjoying the swap and my partner really liked the table topper I made her.

It's a great way to make new friendships and just have fun!

:)

dream56 06-13-2011 06:25 PM

We will be missing you Connie and yes I'm sure we will make you jealous with all the beautiful stuff we get.

lindyline 06-13-2011 07:52 PM

Connie come back soon. We'll miss you.

Conniequilts 06-14-2011 03:04 PM

Thank you everyone! I will be back as soon as hubby's brats are gone. In the meantime, I think I will take up Bonni's suggestions and sneak in some handwork. Perhaps some stuff in red? :)

I'll be spying on ya.....

Hmmm. projects. Wellll, I came back from the quilt shop with new patterns today as well as my brother sending me about three. I have lots to decide from. I'm thinking maybe a table runner or small wall hanging. I know. I always do wall hangings. I like doing them, what can I say. I also picked up a couple of pattern books so have TONS of new things to tempt me.

Anybody else have some ideas?

lindyline 06-15-2011 05:51 PM

How about a sewing caddy/purse. Something to take hand sewing in. Or a great new bag or pincushion or um anything. Time to start thinking outside the square.

That sounds good but I've never done those before. Not much of a sewer which is good because I appreciate those things more when I receive them. LOL.

I saw the cutest coasters/placemat pattern the other day. The coasters were in the shape of cups and mugs.

Also saw a pattern for a "welcome" wall hanging that was cute. Hmmm. hey Dee, it had birdhouses on it!

My partner could even have it easy. I need pillowcases. LOL.

How easy would that be?

Birdhouse Welcome sign - hey that sounds like me for sure.

Pillowcases sound like a great idea - I know I never thought of. I just got a set of red, white and blue ones from my secret pal this month. Also a sewing caddy would be really neat. I've always loved those ones that are box shaped and open flat when you take the lid off. Neat ideas everyone.

Instead of a larger sewing caddy, sewing book with needles, thread, etc. would be good also.

I wasn't going to sign up again since I am working so hard on a new quilting business, designing purses and tote. plus taking care of 2 friends yards. and staging one of their homes for re-sale, carpets, painting ALL ceilings and walls. but I think I will miss out on something great if I do.

so sign me up maybe with some one that want an original designed purse. Maybe it will start something off for me with copyright and producing the pattern. ha ha
