Yay, I don't think my SP posts much so I'm not really expecting to see it here, but I hope she likes what I got/made for her. I can't remember if I put my screenname on the package. I hope the chocolate stayed intact, or at least she likes chocolate enough to not let a little meltiness get in the way of eating it :) But it was delivered today!. Now just waiting for mine. So excited.

quiltnut4ever 06-13-2012 12:26 PM

Krystyna loved the way your grouped those colors! I love pink and caught some cute fabrics on your pic that I also have.
On another note, I too shop with coupons and sales, dollar stores and such for my SP. When I can get a chance I'll make a handsewn item. Normally when I order from nancysnotions.com I get a free needle and I have so far many of them that each of my SP pals receive one. One could never have too many sewing needles. BTW Quilty-Louise belated Happy Birthday! Hope you had a great day!

I've been really busy reorganizing my stash ... so far only got three shelves done ... they are two bolts deep.

I have a long, long way to go before it's all done. And then there is my lace stash ... another story all together.

marytoddliz 06-13-2012 01:07 PM

Wow, well thanks for all the answers, I kinda figured that must be what is happening. I am sorting through stuff now, we are having a HUGE yard sale this weekend and hope to get rid of a lot of stuff! I am getting rid of a lot of Icky Fabric I have 3 bins full so far!

Most of the fabric I should have never kept in the first place, but when your Stash is small... Well Now it is not so small and since my sewing room has taken over the storage room and is spilling into the basement and the bedroom, I figured what the heck time to purge! Make room for more Good Fabric and stuff!

I really can't believe how much stuff we have, just the two of us and 3 cats! My husband has pants he wore in HS and he is 60! time to get rid of those!

OK my break is over back to work, I am heading to mail box to see if I got anything from my secret pal yet!

Quilty-Louise 06-13-2012 01:46 PM

I really need to get back to working on my fabric room finish that
organizing in there, then start on the sewing room again.

We kept the "platform" bed that hubs and youngest daughter made
for her several yrs ago. There are 18 bins (58 qt size) on the platform
top, underneath the platform there is room to stack the bins 4 high x
6 stacks which is 24 bins, not counting all the smaller bins of fabrics
those are mostly fabric already planned for or part of a UFO.

Fabrics that I have that are coordinating are in plastic zip close bags
in the bottom 2 drawer of the dresser in the fabric room.

But I am a good ways off from being finished yet.

Today I recieved the most wonderful package from SEGASAL, Susan. I thought it was Christmas. It was a box absolutely full, and I do mean full, of Christmas fabrics. Lots of fat quarters and some larger pieces. Some of them were tucked into an adorable little minature tote style bag, just adorable. Yea, I got my Purple Thang! Homemade strawberry jelly for my morning toast and that very pretty ironing pad that susan had posted a picture of on this thread. Needles for my machine, some tacky glue and some real cute panels. I cannot post a picture right now, but will try to do it after a while.

Dear SP, Your package went out with today's mail. You are wa-a-a-y north of me. It is coming Priority mail so I'm hoping you have it by Saturday. You and I like a lot of the same things. I left my letter out of your package but will stick it in the mail tomorrow. Fayzer

Mailed my package out yesterday to somewhere that is famous for dinosaurs! and that is all I am saying at the moment about where it is going

mdall 06-13-2012 05:22 PM

To my SP, your box is packed and going out in the morning. Hope you like everything. Sorry, it took so long to get it out but with all that has been going on and having to start over three times, one of your handmade items took awhile. I guess it was worth it though because while in town today I found your favorite candy which none of the stores here have had until today, so extra surprise for you.

TOOMANYUFO'S 06-13-2012 05:34 PM

I just checked the tracking on the pkg I sent out. I mailed it on the 11th and just found out it left NH today. That is slow. I could have driven my scooter and got it to the next state faster than that. I hope my sp gets it by the end of the wk.

The last two swaps I have spent over the 10.00 limit (I know thats a no-no) and still have not been able to send out large swaps. I hope my sp likes them anyways. One of my problems, I do not always make something homemade, but buy something someone else has made. That really puts the cost up, but I don't always have the time.

I am going to start making 3 clown costumes for myself, dd, dh to wear for the 4th of July parade. We are going to ride our scooters. My town is celebrating the holiday on June 30, so don't have much time.

Don't try to keep up with others. Just send items that you would want to recieve. We are not in this to see who can send the most. That wouldn't be fair to those of us that are on a fixed income. i'm sure what you send is fine. Mary

TheMamaHauser 06-13-2012 05:53 PM

I cannot wait to get home and see if my package is there. We're on vacation visiting my great-grandparents until next week... so don't despair if I haven't posted! We get back on the 21st... I promise I'll post soon as I open it!

brenda21 06-13-2012 06:00 PM

~UFO-exactly what Mary said....it's the thought that counts and just have FUN!
~Mama Hauser-hope you're enjoying your visit...we're all like little kids waiting to get our packages and get home to them AND for our pals to get theirs:thumbup:

Sending my package tomorrow, Thursday, the 14th (or for most of you, I guess it's already Thursday). Let's hope the canines don't open the package before my SP partner can do so. The firmie will be headed southeast and there is water involved at her location. Lori, I will send you a PM tomorrow after work regarding the shipping.

To everyone on here suffering from infirms, my thoughts and prayers. Feel better and get better pronto!!!

Love all the goodies everyone is receiving - such fun looking at the photos.

And to Krystyna - I'm am flabbergasted by your beautiful and extensive stash. I hope you don't mind if I used you as an example for my DH. He now thinks I don't have much fabric - you are a true inspiration and role model...!!! Thanks - I owe you. lol.

I thought I would do the same thing. I'll show DH, Krystyna's stash and he will think my stash isn't quite as bad. Just think how many marriages and lives K's photos will save! lol If I keep adding to my stash, we will have to find another residence.

Krystyna your stash is to die for. I love how you organized it. Are those shelves from Ikea? It really looks like you have a little fabric shop. How big is your sewing space?

I am looking forward to getting our new house so I can set up my sewing room. I am staying with the in-laws for a little bit and sharing my mother in law's sewing room. I would never show pictures of that LOL. Two quilter's stashes combined YIKES. The scary part is 1/2 of my original stash is in storage. So, I have no idea how I will fit it all in the new house. I guess when we start looking I look for BIG sewing area! Luckily dh is very understanding of my addiction.

Krystyna 06-14-2012 04:55 AM

Awwww, Quiltymom, I hope you're feeling better soon. You've been ill for too long. I will step up my work on a special package that is coming your way ... hopefully it will cheer you up a bit.

ToomanyUFOs, clown costumes??? Oh my gosh, you HAVE to post pix. We have to see this!!!

As for my stash, yes the shelves are from Ikea. At one time I had a very active eBay business selling Catholic artifacts from estate sales and on behalf of some convents and parishes so I really had to get shelves up. They are quite deep and wrap around two walls from floor to ceiling. Yes, from Ikea, but they don't make this type any more. I still have a couple of shelves with statues on them that I need to finish repairing and get sold and out of here. The other two walls have an L shaped desk that hold two of my machines. There are two plastic drawers underneath and a small filing cabinet ... and more bins of fabric and lace. It's a tiny space so every inch counts.

I'm glad that my photos will help you convince your hubbies that you need more fabric! Mine goes shopping with me and is a good bargain hunter. BUT ... no more shopping. I still have many, many, many more bins of fabric to sort through. Many. Besides quilting (and, of course, veil making) I make scarves, aprons and embroidered tea towels to sell. So happily all that fabric is a business expense -- we are incorporated in Delaware.

Hmmm. Beaches and fairytales. Sounds like Florida or California. We have beaches, but no fairytales except the ones I tell myself.

Pinkwater 06-14-2012 11:06 AM

I'm getting very excited since packages should arrive in the next two days! I can tell you that the packages do not included the following items as they are readily available at my 3 sp’s locations: macadamia nuts, fancy picture hats, grandchildren, figurines that dance on the dashboard, fried chicken, hay, kings or queens of the castle or Spam. </SPAN>
On a completely different subject (and I hope this doesn’t annoy anyone or break any rules) I read a post from someone who was looking for Harry Potter fabric. When I posted that I had some, people came out of the woodwork asking for some. I packaged it all up in batches and sent it hither and yon to quilters who were using it to make things for kids with special needs. Then yesterday I received another request, but this one really got to me. The woman explained that she sews with a group that makes blankets/quilts for terminally ill children and that they had a little boy who desperately wanted a Harry Potter quilt. I had two ½ yards left that were going to someone’s stash so I set them to her today ( I still need to make my apologies to the other person), but I also suggested that she could find awesome paper pieced block patterns @ </SPAN>http://www.fandominstitches.com/p/hp.html</SPAN> and that perhaps someone in her group could make some of the blocks. She wrote back to say thank you for the fabric and explain that most of them were cross stitchers and there was no one to attempt the blocks so although I’m at best an advanced beginner I told her I would try and make one or two. (I’ve never paper pieced before) I also said I’d ask around and see if anyone I knew would be willing to make a block. So, if any of you are willing please send me a private message or post a reply and I’ll coordinate our efforts so that we don’t end up making the same block. Just so you know, I did look into the organization, the woman and the child to verify that this was on the up and up and it is. Thanks for listening. I know that I’ve only been around the board for a short time but you all seem like you’d be ok with me asking. I apologize if I’ve offended anyone. Thanks. Leslie </SPAN>

we have tried, and tried to post the pictures of my gifts from miss pinkwater ,as soon as i find out how to do this i will put pics on here,i need to learn this ,just to let everyone know ,that pinkwater is grrrreeeeaaaatttt to swap with.

brenda21 06-14-2012 03:18 PM

oh Krystyna, I don't know how you are able to control yourself on the fabric freeze....yesterday, I went to the LQS and they do a lot of precut FQ's, which I love.....so I bought a bunch and when I got home 4 of them were not the right shade that I needed to finish what I was working on....so today, I went back and my ONLY intention was to exchange these 4 FQ's for 4 different FQ's, which I did....HOWEVER...I just couldn't help myself from wandering around the shop (even though I was just in there yesterday) and of course I ended up coming out with my 4 exchanged FQ's, a few MORE FQ's, a yard of something I missed yesterday, a kit, and a Dr. Seuss panel that was marked down to $2.00.... and how was everyone else's afternoon?

Krystyna 06-14-2012 03:22 PM

Brenda, it's very easy. If I don't go to the store, I don't buy anything.
