LuvTooQuilt is BACK !!!! …… with the 10 1/2" layer cake Swap.. !!!!

February is BATIKS - BATIKS - BATIKS !!!!!! … With a Blender/marble twist……

Swap open for registration until Feb 15th or until 130 sets filled, whichever comes first.....

Each swapper will submit 12 squares of 1 (one) UN-washed 100% cotton ANY colored quality quilting BATIK fabric.. Please be courteous, and keep in mind, send what you would like to receive in return ~~<<~@

Squares should be carefully rotary cut from UN-washed 100% cotton fabric. Keep in mind that your squares could end up in a child's quilt. Select fabrics that will hold up to a lot of love, wear, tears, draggin', cuddlin', washing, and trips through the dryer. Fabrics that fray easily, or are fairly easy to see through are not good candidates for this swap.

Please be advised that fabrics that are not square, squares too wonky or too off grain, squares that are shedding, squares that contain selvages, or those that are not 10.5 or larger, will be returned unswapped. Anything less than MY 10.5 measurement will be returned. If you are unsure of your accuracy, over-sized squares will be accepted as they can be cut down to size if needed be. Will accept any squares larger than 10.5 inches... please nothing over 11 inches as they become hard to put in baggies.. (If you would like /require assistance in cutting please contact me.- Ill need these fabrics sooner.. )

Here’s how it works: - In your packet to me you will enclose:

• ~ 1 gallon size Hefty (or the like) non pleaded SLIDER bag with 12 ct – 10 1/2 (up to 11) inch squares of ONE fabric for each set
• ~ Fabric must be UN -washed, ironed and in gallon bags for safe passage thru USPS.
• ~ Selvages MUST be removed entirely from both selvage ends- Including selvage holes.
• ~ Please remember that each set MUST be cut from a different unwashed fabric
• ~ 5-6 sets fit in ONE priority flat rate envelope
• ~ It is aprox 1 yard per 12ct – 10.5 (up to 11I) inch squares - IF your fabric is 44 wide.
• ~ There is a SIX set limit in this swap plus 8 TWIST(s) MAX

~ INCLUDE your screen name ON your baggies along with SET amounts. *Example- I would like to do 4 (four) sets and a twist - ((4 sets mean that you would send 12 ct – 10.5 (up to 11 inch squares from FOUR different fabrics for a total of 48 squares, each set in separate gallon size bag(s)) so, written legibly with a sharpie marker or pen, on EACH of my bags will have:

~ Please staple a piece of your fabric on the outside of the baggie...

~ You may also include but not mandatory, your real name, mailing address, should your envelope be swallowed by the USPS machines for identification purposes- an adhesive return label perhaps.?. )

Also in your package INCLUDE a Sample pieces of each of your fabric – ( 2x3 tiny strips pieces from your leftover fabric is the prefect size..) Some of you stapled the pieces to a small piece of cardboard/cardstock/paper with an addt’l addy label & board name- (see pic) It is my goal NOT to give you back your fabric square…And this aids me keeping track who sent in what since there are over 100 sets

Also in your package INCLUDE in a sandwich baggie: a self-adhesive return address label, and return priority postage AND mandatory delivery confirmation. ($5.95 in Postage stamps, Concealed cash, or Postal Money orders ONLY)... Please remember that if you do not send enough return postage I will hold them until you send the difference. After 30 days, I will donate the unclaimed squares to charity of my choice.

~ DO NOT HIDE POSTAGE IN THE TWIST BAGGIE... I do not look in the baggies, however you may conceal it in any of your MAIN swap baggies..

~DO NOT mail return SAS envelopes!!!!! Postage ONLY please!!! I will not accept stamped envelopes.

***Due to quick turn-around and distance of my bank I WILL NOT ACCEPT PERSONAL CHECKS***

Postage stamps, USPS money orders (or concealed cash at your own risk) will be accepted as forms for postage/shipping costs..

I would like to have these in hand no later than the 29th of the swap Month - should it fall on a holiday, Saturday or Sunday it must be received in hand the previous business day.
So with a post mark no later than the 20th that should give the USPS ample time to deliver via parcel post with a few days grace period. By the 24th PRIORITY is recommended. After the 26th, Mandatory OVERNITE shipping is required.... International members need to send them to me sooner- PM for details

Please remember that any packages received the 30th or after will be automatically returned unswapped. Any member not fulfilling commitment will not be accepted in future swaps and negative feedback will be posted to members account per Moderators requirements.

I will then sort shortly after and hope to mail out squares No later than the 10th of the following month.

AND THE TWIST…………..Charms !!!!!

FEB's Twist theme is: BLENDERS OR MARBLED FABRICS
Any 100% unwashed cotton fabrics that are considered blenders or marbled of ANY color..

Here’s how it works:
~Cut ONE 5x5 from 10 different 100% quality Cotton fabrics –no flannel, homespun, eyelet, see thru fabrics- When in doubt, leave it out!.
~Place the 10 different fabric sqs in a ziplock SANDWICH baggie for safe transport thru the USPS. (Ten DIFFERENT 5x5 sqs = ONE Twist)
~ there is a EIGHT twist limit- all baggies cannot contain the SAME fabrics so mix them up- you may use the same fabric up to four baggies but the baggies MUST not have duplicates of themselves or NOT be identical to any other submitted baggies..
~Label the baggie with your Board Name and the total count of TWISTS you are participating in..

Does anyone have any favorite patterns or blocks to use these 10.5" squares?

Is this 10.5" ?
if it is 10.5" layer cake batik. I would like to join.

it is saying to cut 5x5." . Am i misreading something?

Sewmany - Please double check the instructions....the Batik pieces are 10.5" and the Twist is for 5x5" charms, which I think are for cotton blender fabrics. The Twist is optional. There is a lot of info in the instructions, so it can get confusing. To join, send an email and provide your info. Hope you join us!

Sewmany- yes this swap is for twelve 10.5 batik sqs .... Each member sends me twelve of the same 10.5 sqs and I return back to the members twelve DIFFERENT 10.5... Non will be the same unless someone dups another's fabrics or no enough swappers ..

ALSO this swap has an addtl swap too of ten different 5x5 blender/marble charms - the charms are optional ..

this is what im working on now from a few of the scrappy 10.5 sqs i have gotten from my swaps.. Ill post pics when im finished.. it takes one light and one dark/med.....thats it. i used two 10.5 and made that block!!!!!!!!!!

Ohhhh, just placed an order for these Batiks to swap!!!! I ordered six different 1895 Watercolor Batiks, my favorites. Getting fired up for this one!!!

I have all the batik squares for this swap are cut and they look perfect. Now as for the picnic squares I messed up again. It seems it is not meant to be.

For sure Cyndy! Those Missouri Quilt company videos are also fun and easy to watch. That they are free is even better.

I would like to join but my batiks are already pre-washed....it has always been recommended to wash batiks because of the wax...is this a problem if I send washed layer cake squares?

Judy... This is a pre-wash swap..

I'm so confused. On page 1 it says unwashed, above it says pre-wash. Glad I held off cutting, Whew! Please which is correct.........

The instructions say UN-washed. Has this changed?

SORRY TYPO.... i meant to type this is NOT a pre-wash swap....

Sorry guys.. didnt mean to confuse yall.... None of my swaps are pre-wash.. EVER.. .. its all off the bolt, sizing and all, just as the manufaturer made it... Im not a pre=washer, i personally like the stiffness of the sizing when piecing and love the krinkle effect after washing the final finished product.. Im one of the few swaps that are NOT pre-wash swap... its just my preference..
