goldsberry921 needs two for the month of March, she is done already and it isn't even March. LOL I am only getting some ideas in my head. Haven't got to making it yet. Have some UFOs to finish for February first.

Dragonfly Nana 02-15-2012 04:39 PM

Krystyna, what is the signup count so far?

Hey Ladies, truthfully speaking I am having surgery in 2 weeks and I don't think I will be able to sit at the sewing machine so that's why I got it done quickly that way my husband can mail it off. But.... it may be a good idea to get April out of the way LOL

Sorry to hear you are having surgery. I hope everything goes well and that you have a very speedy recovery. Your partners will be happy to receive your quilts and it will be nice to have little squishy packages arrive while you are recovering. God bless you. :)

Aunt Janey 02-16-2012 09:43 AM

I'm also going to be out for the month of March but am interested in the one for
April. Will April have a theme or will it also be senders choice?

Krystyna 02-16-2012 09:59 AM

Aunt Janey, not sure about the theme. Do you all have a preference? I'm open, but I don't want to impose on the group.

Dragonfly Nana 02-16-2012 03:16 PM

what about a two-color theme for April? I know we did a red/white last year but this could be senders choice of colors
i.e., black/white, blue/yellow, pink/purple, etc.

Crazy Quiltin Robin 02-16-2012 06:44 PM

I wish there was a like button on this thread .... cause there are alot of likes I would like to just click on .....lol....... Paula good idea !!!!!! I LIKE it!!!!!

ljdugas31 02-16-2012 07:26 PM

yes i like that too!!!

mooretll 02-17-2012 02:36 AM

Sounds good to me to. like the two color theme.

goldsberry921 02-17-2012 04:02 AM

Thank you. I think this quilt that I made is probably the best one I've made. I know that having participated in the DQ swaps has allowed me to improve and be a little more confident in being "creative". I guess I am going to have a busy weekend and upcoming week. MIL's bday is in March so I need to come up with something for her and hopefully I can be ahead of the game! This may be my opportunity to learn how to hand quilt from start to end with a doll quilt while I'm in down mode. Thanks for the blessings too!!!

JenniePenny 02-17-2012 04:15 AM

I do like the idea of having a theme because then it is almost like a challenge to the mind and soul.

Krystyna 02-17-2012 05:28 AM

Okey dokey. In April we'll have a two color theme. If you have color combination ideas, let me know.

jillnjo 02-17-2012 06:33 AM

Colors of spring!! Well, that's coming from the states anyway! I'm open to any 2 colors.Except black and brown.:p!

Krystyna 02-17-2012 06:44 AM

OK. Colors of Spring it is for April. I was initially thinking pastels, but then I thought about those "delightful" bright yellow dandelions on the fresh new grass, and, of course, the deep purples and yellows of crocuses. My personal favorite reflects the Sakura (Cherry Blossom) Festivals - pink!

I have to share this since it always makes me chuckle when I think of the Sakura Festival. Decades ago I was pestering a friend of mine to go to the Sakura Festival at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. He resisted and finally asked, "Why on earth do you want to go to a festival celebrating a Russian dissident?" He thought I wanted to go to a Sakharov festival! OK. I'm weird. But you already knew that.

SewExtremeSeams 02-17-2012 10:52 AM

Colors of spring... hmmm. And only two colors? Will have to put my thinking cap on for that one.

Jillnjo... your February doll quilt is coming along nicely. I had a lot of fun yesterday trying out a new (to me) technique!

No one said anything about thread colors!

Lynnie25 02-17-2012 03:18 PM

Love the 2 colour theme. Umm autumn/fall colours for this part of the world though :)

I'm in for April, I think I can whip one up before the surgery LOL

Krystyna is talking about using a quilting thread that is in contrast to the fabrics used in the top. i.e., dark blue thread on an pale blue and yellow top, or red thread on black and white top.

Dragonfly Nana 02-17-2012 06:31 PM

Since we are going with Spring colors for April I will have to put on my thinking cap and start shopping my stash - fun, fun but only after I finish my March one.

Dragonfly Nana 02-17-2012 06:36 PM

I know I suggested the two-color theme for the April - but does two-color mean you can use multiple shades of the same color? Think tone-on-tone or batiks

Good question Paula, I was wondering the same thing myself!!
:D :D :D :D

Krystyna 02-18-2012 04:50 AM

OK. Should we allow three colors? I am going to have a horrible time with this myself since I've got tons of prints.

Dragonfly Nana 02-18-2012 05:23 AM

Remember that the Theme has always been optional. I think if you have a print that you want to use then you just choose one other color to compliment it. We did say two colors not two fabrics.

Krystyna 02-18-2012 05:32 AM

Interestingly, someone just posted a link to a spring color pallet! http://en.paperblog.com/spring-2012-...watches-64273/
OK. Two colors. You decide what that means. But that's April. We have even done March yet!

goldsberry921 02-18-2012 06:38 AM

Wow that is interesting. I went to a guild meeting one time and a lady said that another good idea was going to home depot or lowes and getting the swatches from there because many are already coordinated so it gives one a better idea on what fabrics to match.

Krystyna 02-18-2012 06:51 AM

Here's another one I rather like http://bestdesignoptions.com/?p=2644
And here is a link for the Google image search - LOTS of inspiration there!
Have fun.

SulaBug 02-18-2012 02:24 PM

WOW!! :D Thanks Krystyna for all of the great color sites. This is going to be such a fun Doll Quilt project.
:D :D :D :D

mooretll 02-18-2012 02:51 PM

Well, I have my march doll quilt started. I am doing a lot of different applique on it. Dogs, Trees, Grass and Stars. Well back to work on it. Love the two color for April.

Judith1005 02-18-2012 07:03 PM

Love the two color theme for April. Sew fun. Still trying to concrete my ideas for March. And need to mail my February doll quilt. But, at least it's all set to go. And I'm super excited to send to my partner. I love how it came out.

cuppy 02-18-2012 08:29 PM

April.....theme is ... 2 colors , so how many different fabrics can be used?

cuppy

SewExtremeSeams 02-19-2012 12:33 PM

Krystyna, Krystyna... help me, help me.. or as my little GD said when she was younger... hep me, Gpa!!!
I don't mean to cause trouble (especially on your first doll quilt swap as the hostess) but I am totally lost. I must have missed some posts somewhere.

For March... what can we do? And is the theme optional or not? :D :)

hobbykat1955 02-19-2012 01:09 PM

I'm in, sending PM

cherrybsixty 02-19-2012 04:13 PM

Krystyna, and DQ ladies, I'm sorry to say that I won't be particapating this time around the ole laptop it going back to the shop again. When I get her back I'll join back in on the fun. I miss you ladies. It has been fun. Maybe I'll get smart and buy another one.

Ladybug 1938 02-19-2012 04:20 PM

Krystyna

You sure hit the mother lode with that Google search... Wow didn't realize there were so many colors in one place... So what is April suppose to be, I came in a bit late in this conversation.. Spring is good, two color not great.. Already have my March one near done, Fall colors so hopefully someone likes fall as much as I do. As I am making 4 place mats and a table runner for myself with the same pattern...
