FABRIC POSTCARD SWAP

Come join us in trading Fabric Postcards. Be creative, inventive, try out new skills, embellishments, have fun. It's a wonderful mini project. There are lots of online resources available with all sorts of ideas, inspiration and ‘how-to’s.’ We will have a general theme each month. Please mail your fabric postcards by the 20th of each month. (This is a hard deadline.) Sooner is better so I can add you to the ‘mailed’ list. Use cardstock or index cardscut to 4” x 6” or purchased blank postcards for the back and some kind of stifffusible interfacing, i.e., Timtex, Fast2Fuse, Wonder Under, etc. If you use batting to make your postcard, be prepared to pay additional postage. Any other size will cost more postage. International swappers are welcome!

This is not meant to be a Secret Pal kind of swap. Once I have everyone partnered up, I will post the QB names on the thread then will send along the above information by PM to the respective swappers.

Some required details:
•Postcards must be 4” x 6”
•They must have a finished edge, i.e., zig zag stitching, button hole stitching, satin stich, binding, etc.
•Your postcard needs to be at least either pieced or appliqued plus whatever you want to add to that. If you add a lot of embellishment, you may need to enclose your handmade postcard in a clear mailing envelope (available at the big box stores and online) in order for the USPS to handle it/mail it and so your postcard doesn’t get caught in their equipment.
•Your postcard must have adequate postage. Do not send something that will require the recipient to have to pay postage due. To be safe, please either check at your local post office or put 49 cents on your postcard for US. Check with your PO for international postage.
•Please PM me when you have mailed your postcard AND when you have received your postcard. Also, as a courtesy, please PM your sender to let them know you’ve received their postcard.
•Have fun and be creative.

Please, we want this swap to be fun. Just as a reminder, it is up to you to make sure your partner receives your postcard. Use an envelope if in doubt. Make sure your return address is on there. If you have not fulfilled you obligation you will not be allowed to join the swap the following month. If you do not fulfill your obligation, you will leave me no choice but to leave negative feedback.

Don't let the theme throw you off. I don't usually show my postcard until my partner receives. But, I'm willing to share how simple it is doing just one example of different shapes and sizes. (There are still many different ways to achieve this theme.) I decided to try out the ticker tape piecing. I've been wanting to try this for probably about a year. And I can definitely tell you, I am really glad I tried it out on a postcard. For, I think I would have gone out of my mind doing anything bigger. It is simple. And, as you can see, I had to try out just a little thread painting. To jazz up and add a bit more interest.

I can't wait to see what yall will come up with. I sure hope my partner this month likes what I came up with.

I am doing my fpc for Judith1005 this month. I have been getting out the fabric, and making my plans. :)

Juidth...It is all good. I know how hard it is to get us set up with partners. Do U have any samples of different sizes and shapes of PC.

Nelco, I don't. Just try to leave whatever size or shape you do postcard size. (Give or take a little here or there.) As far as different shaped, your only limited by your imagination. I decided to do different sizes and shapes on a regular rectangle postcard. But, you don't have to do that, You can actually shape your card if you want. I did think about that also. I just couldn't wrap my mind around the concept.

But, examples of shapes could be Oval, Round, Butterfly, Kite, Car really, the possibilities are endless. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

I am still trying to think of my shapes, but do have my fabric now. :)

Ok I see I have a pm with name and address for post card, no beach for me this week end , I will be making a postcard, and finishing 2 other swaps I am in.

Hi, been away all weekend. got my name and excited to get started with my postcard. So many ideas rolling around in my head. Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.

Let's not forget, hexi's, crazy quilts and yoyo's also show different shapes and sizes.

Just have fun, don't let the theme get to you. I am sure that any or all of us would be happy with anything you make.
