You all inspire me... You know I have been stalking this thread, well today I saw a pincushion swap too... I gave up and designed and made myself a matching set. I hope you don't mind. :) It has 3 pockets, one large and two smaller and a tiny tuck space for a thimble. The ribbon is for thread. I need to fill it now!

They are so fun to make, I jumped in today and made two more, and I have 4 laid out to make. They take less then 30 minutes from start to finish. I'm using them for Ladies gifts for Christmas. Nieces probably. Oh, and one will be a stocking stuffer for my daughter. I love them.

These are just too cute. Did you say you made your own pattern? They are really creative.

kensington 07-20-2012 08:41 PM

I did make my own. I looked at all of them in this swap, and a few I found online, then put the things I liked the best into one. It has four pockets, one is the shape and size for a thimble, one for needles, one for a seam ripper or small zissors, one longer for a acrylic board or buttons, and then I put in the ribbob for a slender spool of thread and the felt pages for pins. I made it a rectangle, but when I cut the end at an angle for the flap, it made a thimble pocket. I used a button and ribbon wrapped around for the closure.

They are 12x7 over all before sewing, but when finished and trifolded they are about 6x3 1/2. I used ultra thin batting in side for padding. They are just right to throw in a purse or a suitcase and have all you need to mend or repair something as you go! I just need to get the threads, bobbins and needles for the pockets.

I've made four since yesterday when I made that first blue set for myself. LOL. I'm going to make the pin cushions to match and give the sets for Christmas gifts.

Do we have any swappers, living on another planet, maybe? Maybe the tracking number would help solve the mystery.

Do you know if it's an international swap? Sometimes those can take a long time, to travel. I hope it arrives soon!

Judith1005 07-25-2012 02:07 PM

quiltymom, keep us posted. I surely do hope it arrives soon.

How sweet! Love the detachable pincushion (if that is what the yellow pillow is).

jigs1354 07-26-2012 11:02 AM

SewExtremeSeams, yes, that's a yellow pin cushion hanging on the side. I was going to add one into the case itself but completely slipped my mind. I was thrilled to day myself because I received Linda's sewing case and will post pics. of it later. She also sent me lots of goodies too. It's a wonderful large case which she did patchwork for the front then machine stitches in different patterns just like a crazy quilt designs down the rows. Beautiful pieces of fabric strips she used in colors I love, Big thank you Linda. Love the magazine you sent too Will post pics. later today.

Very nice needle case, and lots of nice things inside.

nancia 07-26-2012 10:10 PM

to my very patient partner! i started your needlecase today, and with luck will finish it tomorrow. saturday the po closes early so it will likely be mailed on monday. we are leaving for my dgd's first birthday party and i am trying to get a 1000 things done. i have made 2 dq's, 64 swap blocks, and started the b'day dress. then just need to quilt and bind the baby's quilt ( which i likely will do on the plane, just the binding. where would i plug in a machine?lol). i am counting on my dil still having a machine. we will see! meanwhile, i have to get the cats shots or they will have to stay unattended in the house with copious amounts of food, fresh water and an air conditioner. hmmmmm, that doesn't sound that bad. my only concern is one of the cats is 19 and if he should die while we were gone i would handle it better if there was someone taking care of him, in case they could help. i may snag my son to cat sit! anyway, chickens without heads come to mind when i dash past the mirror. where did i put my.........(fill in the blank) lol. just wanted you tp know. dear partner, that i have not forgotten you!!

Well, imagine my surprise when she told me I had taught her to sew! As I remember it she wasn't a very good listener. I've been working on Olivia's dress all day and I'm disgusted with my lack of sewing skills. I had hoped I hadn't lost much, but the old fingers and brain are not behaving in a co-ordinated way. Good thing I am skilled at frogging! Lol. I will post pictures later.
Meanwhile, I have cut the fabric for my partner's needlecase and will quilt it tomorrow. Who knows, I may get it mailed on Monday. I would love that! Oh, wait. If I embellish it it will take a little longer. Not a problem ! Tomorrow I call the library and beg to use a table to sandwich Olivia's quilt. I can do a quick job of straight line quilting and sew the binding on. Then handsew the rest. Tuesday the cats get their shots. If not, they stay home alone(where is Mac Cauley caulkin when I need him? ) Packing will take 5 minutes since I have everything in a pile already. Yay polyester knit! In a jumble not a problem!

There really are wonderful Angels on here!!!!

nancia 07-31-2012 12:36 AM

quiltymom-- that's crummy!! i sure hope whoever your partner was has not fallen on hard times! my partner for a different swap fell and broke both feet! i forgave her immediately!! now, her swap item has gone astray with no sign or clue where. our p.o. is not one of the better ones so it could be on the way to hawaii by now!! i hope your partner is alright and there is some very good reason why yours hasn't arrived yet!!

MarLeClair 07-31-2012 07:26 AM

If I may add my 2 cents. Aren't the needlebooks supposed to be finished before we sign up for a swap. I'm sort of new here but I thought that would prevent this from happening. From the time of posting and the time we signed up there was plenty of time. Of course things happen but I would be thoroughly disappointed with swapping.

I believe some swaps are like that but for this one, we had the option of waiting until we had our swap partner's name and preferences. However, they were all supposed to be mailed by June 29 and have a mailing confirmation # (at least, if mailed within the states). IF there is a problem getting a swap mailed, the sender is supposed to contact the hostess and explain. Emergencies/accidents happen and are beyond our control . . . but a partner shouldn't just be left waiting . . . and waiting . . . and waiting, without a word of explanation.

quiltymom 07-31-2012 09:26 AM

Okay I feel its time to just move on!! I hope you see you on the Aug swap. I think Caroline will be back soon!!! Thankyou all for your kind words!! Quilty hugs to all,Sue

jigs1354 07-31-2012 10:44 AM

I agree to that missing partner business, that's way to lame not to explain it why, hows or what evers. I think she deserves that much anyway. I'd be so embarrassed if I did that. So if the swap partner would come forth and at least say I'm Sorry just couldn't do it that would at least make the other swap partner feel better rather than all this time in waiting. She could have let the hostess know she wasn't able to make the needle case. Doesn't matter the reason just let someone know. Things do happen out of our control, we all have had that happen. So missing sewing case swap lady please let your very sweet swap partner know your sorry about this whole thing. I'm sure she won't send out the swap police.

The problem was from what I heard is she mailed it without Del Con. but never got here. A couple weeks ago she was going to send another one but still----- Anyways I'm just ready to move on-------

JuneBillie 07-31-2012 07:13 PM

I am sorry too that you have been waiting all this time. I also know things happen, but a month past due date is not normal with no word of what is going on. As said, we all have things happen, that's life, but please just let the person know what is going on so they know something. That is just being kind.

SewExtremeSeams 08-01-2012 08:43 AM

Like Quiltymom said, several times, let's let it go... By now the poor lady is probably too embarrassed. Hopefully, she won't just drop out of the quilting board. :)
