Needlecase Exchange

Hi Everyone,

Our as the last needlecase was so successful I thought I would organise another! So come on – join in and have some fun.

Okay here are the rules:-

CONSTRUCTION:-

1. The case does not have to be quilted, although it surely can be, but it must be handmade - not shop bought.

2. It must be made of 100% cotton fabric or wool felt. Embellishments and pretty’s are very welcome as is applique.

3. The size and shape of the case is up to the individual creating it, but should not be smaller than 4” x 3”.

MANNERS: Please remember to thank your partner. Just a simple post is great. Please also let me know when you send and receive so that I can mark my records and make sure everyone receives a needle case. It would be great if you could post a picture, but if you are unable to post a picture, please ask your partner to do so. Much of the fun is seeing everyone's creations. Also, please understand that this board has members with differing skill levels and you will not necessarily be sent to by somebody at the same level as yourself...... so, love the creation you are sent, whatever the standard of sewing, piecing, quilting. We all started somewhere and the most important ingredient in our creations is love!

PLEASE PLEASE REMEMBER TO LET ME KNOW WHEN YOU MAIL AND RECIEVE!!!!!!

PARTNERS: You will be allocated a recipient in this exchange. You will send to them, but they will send to somebody else and so on!

EXTRAS: This is a secret exchange so please please ensure that you put a card in with your exchange so the recipient knows who has made it. If you can, give a few details about yourself.... it is lovely if we can get to know each other a little better. This exchange is for a needle case only. It is not necessary to put other items in with your exchange but you can if you feel you would like to.

SIGN UP: Sign up begins today and ends 8th June 2012. I’ll will assign partners as early after the cut off date as I can and I will let all participants know who their partners are as soon as possible.

DUE DATE: The deadline for all needle cases to be mailed is 29th June 2012 so there will be plenty of time to manufacture your creation. Please get proof of posting so that we can try to trace lost packages

Now for the fun...... to sign up please fill in these details and PM me

1. Name

2. Address

3. Email address

4. Favourite Colours

5. Can you post internationally?

6. Do you have allergies?

7. Do you have pets?

Hugs and looking forward to another fun exchange!

Caroline

mercer click on the hosts name above, and then it will bring up a window, and just click on the pm for personal message, and write your message and send. Hope this helps.

JuneBillie 05-05-2012 08:01 AM

Caroline, I sent you a pm, count me in. I look forward to this swap. Thank you!

DogHouseMom 05-05-2012 08:16 AM

I seriously do not have a needle case, and I NEED one. I'm so tired of hunting for one, and it's not the right one, and where I did stick that one when I was done with it?

So heck yes I'm signing up!!

Sue

I really, really love the needlecase I received, I don't think I even need another one. On the other hand, all the ideas and pretty cases shown were inspiring. hmmmmmmmmmm, maybe I should get in.

JuneBillie 05-06-2012 02:46 PM

Cas yes it does sound like fun. I got my pm back that I am in. Now for the designings.

HEY if ANY one thinks they don't need another needle case well.... think twice. I have one upstairs on my sewing table one downstairs by my hand sewing for tv/couch time, I keep one in a kit that travels with me to retreats , workshops, oh yes an emergency gift needed RIGHT NOW! ...etc... SO there you have it... Send in that PM. And join the FUN =^.^=

Judith1005 05-06-2012 07:11 PM

Oh happy day, my pm has been sent. I wouldn't want to miss out on the fun. Thanks for hosting again Caroline. :)

Loved this swap last time around.

Question ~ part of the sign-up info was "favorite color"... should we wait for partner assignments before beginning our needle cases so we can cater to the favorite color? Personally, I am thrilled with anything made with love regardless of color.

SewExtremeSeams 05-07-2012 06:02 PM

Thanks Caroline. I will sign up and send you my info as soon as I have one made for my to-be partner. My mid year resolution is to make item before signing up for swaps. Thanks for putting this on again and for making the sign-up and mail dates far enough out there so I have time to complete a needlecase! :)

Judith1005 05-07-2012 06:41 PM

Well said TiltedEars, I feel the same as you do.

What a wonderful resolution & a great way to feel at peace when swap deadlines approach. I much prefer to be on the "I'm ready for this" side rather than the "oh crap" side of a deadline. That's partially why I asked my question about whether we're required to try to match color preferences of our partner, which would of course mean that we must wait til after partners are assigned to begin.

I intend to go ahead and start mine, also. Once I get the recipient's preferences, the personal touches can be added.

count me in

sewbeadit 05-09-2012 01:04 AM

I am in too. I had a great time for the last one and enjoyed receiving my pretty needle case as well as making one for my partner.

CAS49OR 05-09-2012 12:16 PM

I'm in, but this time I'm going to wait to see my recipient's preferences. Last time I jumped right in and made one, and it was total opposite of her chosen colors, but she said she really liked it!

JuneBillie 05-11-2012 12:53 PM

Everyone must be busy either making their needle book, or thinking about what they are going to create. Have a good weekend everyone. All of you are sew creative.

I had every intention of having it started, by now . . . but keep changing my mind, about how I want to make it. :p

JuneBillie 05-11-2012 05:36 PM

Neesie, I know what you mean, because I am doing the same thing. I keep seeing another design in my mind, and then another. lol.....

Neesie 05-11-2012 05:41 PM

Yep! Exactly! LOL

goldsberry921 05-11-2012 06:21 PM

I am going to participate in this swap. Does anyone have any pics to share from ones they have received in the past?

brushandthimble 05-11-2012 06:36 PM

Sent PM, would love to send one to a special someone:)
I use several also, can't have to many.

TiltedEars 05-12-2012 06:35 AM

See if this link works to see some made during the last swap - http://www.quiltingboard.com/member-...e-t169166.html

goldsberry921 05-12-2012 11:16 AM

Thanks so much!!!! I appreciate it!!!

JuneBillie 05-12-2012 02:42 PM

TiltedEars, I also thank you, because this is my first time making one for a swap. I am so happy to be able to make one for another happy quilter.

Judith1005 05-12-2012 03:03 PM

I've picked out my pattern and fabric. Hope my partner likes it....but, there's plenty of time to make changes if I need to.

DogHouseMom 05-13-2012 10:53 AM

FINALLY I've got my cover design. I was looking for something specific (I'm not telling yet <g>) and Google searching finally paid off. I need to tweak it a bit - but that's just the fun part.

Now to start playing!!

goldsberry921 05-13-2012 12:59 PM

Mine is made! For it being my first one, I am proud of myself. I know they aren't hard to make but when you are fairly new at a new project, it seems like you are all thumbs! I may "practice" and make a few more...

fmhall2 05-15-2012 11:48 AM

I just sent a PM saying that I am in for two if allowed. fmhall2

brushandthimble 05-15-2012 01:27 PM

started mine today, won't be able to finish until Sunday. One lead to 2,3,4,5 LOL.
Looking to add a little something extra, picked up an item today.

mercer63 05-15-2012 04:10 PM

I got mine finished sewing, just a few embellishments to add!

MarLeClair 05-15-2012 04:26 PM
