Nov 2016 - Feb 2017 Wall Hanging Swap

Welcome to our Wall Hanging Swap!

You have 4 months to make a wall hanging of your choice.

Size and Type of Wall Hanging:

A wall hanging should be smaller than a lap quilt but larger than a mug rug.
You can use any technique/ any style / any colors.
Embellishments are a fun way to add to your wall hanging if you like

Sign Up list

There is no deadline.
The Sign Up list is just to see who is interested in joining us.
But please remember that the only list that counts is the Ready to Mail list at the end of the 4 month swap.

Ready to Mail list

Ready to Mail list will be posted the middle of Feb.
If you are not on this list you will not get an address to send to.
Deadline - MIDNIGHT central time last day of February 2017

I Need:
Please send me an updated info even if you have been swapping with me for awhile. I seem to be missing some info I need.

Real name
your address
send international or not
Allergy info
Pet and smoking information
Would like an email address
Phone number would be appreciated

As long as you have a wall hanging ready to mail by the last day of February you can join us any time!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Addresses Sent Out:

I will be sending addresses to each swapper at midnight of the last day of February!!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You will then send your wall hanging to the quilter who's address you get.
You will receive from a differant quilter than the one you send to.

This is not a partner swap.

IMPORTANT:

Please send me a pm when you mail and when you receive!!
Only those who send me a pm to let me know they are ready to mail will be on the mailing list.
Anyone who is not done on time may enter theirs in the next swap.

Please Post Pics of:

Your fabrics
Embellishments you are using
Progress pictures
Finished wall hanging - since noone knows who gets what -not even me-there is no surprise ruined by posting your pictures.

Prewashing or not is up to you

I hope you decide to join us and have a lot of fun!!

Please make sure to read the general rules that apply to all swaps here at the Quilting Board:http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-20154-1.htm

Looking forward to participating in this one. I have the perfect WH for spring, and with the extra time off during the holidays I should be able to have it done way before the deadline.

So for those that did not see this on the July-November swap, here is the WH and goodies that lovethemgreys received.

SewingSew 11-16-2016 08:20 AM

Jnct, I have been hoping to see your completed wall-hanging. The color choices are nice together and the quilting is very pretty. I'm glad that you girls were able to figure out how to post the photo. It seems as though there should be more wall-hangings/photos for that swap.

marytoddliz 11-17-2016 10:03 AM

I am in! I have the cutest Idea and am so excited that I can post pictures!
Being left handed myself I feel your pain, Ube! My Daughter who is also left handed learned how to knit from my Mom she sat across from her and duplicated her movements! I think I couldn't do it because my Mom was a lot harder on me that she was on my Daughter!LOL
I taught myself to crochet small items but quilting and sewing will always be my first love!

I crossed learning how to do it off my list of accomplishments a long time ago so now I don't have to worry about it. I can enjoy all the wonderful things created by all of you. :D

Very nice! I am so glad, and I am sure that lovethemgreys is too, that you got inspired, Janice. 😄

Boy, we all need more time in the day. Am working on ufo's this year and here is another one. This was a Fat Quarter Shop BOM from 2009. I finished It!!!! Now I hope I can post it!

SewingSew 11-18-2016 07:38 AM

Skaduzy, that is beautiful!!! From 2009--that really is a UFO. Some things are so amazing that you have to take your time with them.

ube quilting 11-18-2016 02:41 PM

A beautiful BOM. I would love to see close ups of the blocks and fabric. They are all so pretty. It make me happy to see your work.
peace

skaduzy 11-18-2016 04:56 PM

Ube, you are so nice, Thank you......It was Glacé fabric by Moda, I think. I will try to post a few of the blocks.
And SewingSew.......thank you, too......it wasn't that I took my time...haha...it was that I did the blocks, didn't know if I liked them so I put it in the closet unassembled. Finally found some fabric online a few months ago for the backing...yea, some store still had some! Now that it is done I do like it. It is actually Christmas fabric.

JNCT14 11-18-2016 05:15 PM

Oh skaduzy that is so pretty. I am doing one that is using all my auditioned blocks. I hope it comes out as well.

klaws 11-19-2016 05:14 AM

skaduzy what a beauty! You do wonderful work.

Anoka Quilter 11-19-2016 11:01 AM

Beautiful quilt skaduzy.

JNCT14 11-23-2016 04:58 AM

Hope everyone is ready for Thanksgiving! I was up at 4:30 am making pie crust. Then off to work - when I get home, I will roll out crust, freeze and make filling. Then brining the second turkey so everyone has leftovers! Bloody Marys tomorrow morning, yippee!

Anoka Quilter 11-23-2016 07:47 AM

Ohhh, I love Bloody Mary's. May just have to make some of those myself.

ube quilting 11-23-2016 11:54 AM

Bloody Marys for every one! Happy Thanksgiving .
peace

skaduzy 11-23-2016 07:00 PM

After the holiday hi! Mini quilts have really grabbed my attention so look into the future, March to be exact, I downsized a full size quilt to 12.5" sq so far.

I call this one "A Little Irish"

And what I saw on my morning walk.

These beauties belong to a neighbor two houses away and we get to see them pasturing occasionally. We can hear the Emus' throaty drumming all the time. Wonderful to know them.

Cogito 11-25-2016 09:04 AM

Haha ube I am a left hander also and had the same experience! My mother both knitted and crocheted beautifully. I have a sister who is a master knitter and a daughter who crochets. I just love quilting. 😊

Anoka Quilter 11-27-2016 10:37 AM

Love the quilt Ube

rbwiese 11-29-2016 04:29 PM

Love the quilts and afghans posted here. My mom (also left handed) taught me to crochet and I learned to knit late in life - I knit most of the time because arthritis makes crocheting hurt a little more.

As for using up stash - I might have to live to 450 to be able to use up all yarn/fabric stash!

LAQUITA 11-29-2016 07:34 PM

Hello Everyone,
I have contacted Rhonda & want to join in on the fun. Could someone please tell me what the 'theme' is? I couldn't find it anywhere. I must if over looked it. Thanks'

ube quilting 11-29-2016 07:54 PM

Hi LAQUITA, welcome to the swap. This is a swap with no theme. It is always makers choice. The only rule as far as design is to make it bigger than a mug rug and small enough that most people will have a spot to hang it. Most of us usually, with some exceptions, make quilts about 2 square feet in size but there is no real limit.

The most important thing is to PM Rhonda when you have your wall hanging done and ready to send or your name will not go on the ready to send list.

So feel free to make anything you want. We love to see patterns, fabrics and progress and hear about your life and pictures too. We will do our best to answer questions and support each other.

Hope this helps.

Rhonda 11-29-2016 09:02 PM

To add to ube's description -- noone knows who gets which wall hanging so post all the pictures you want of your progress and the final wall hanging!! We love pictures of all kinds!

Welcome to all these new swappers or returning swappers! We're happy to have you join us!
