Sign up time for the lucky seven doll quilt swap! Here are the details:

Doll Quilt Swap #7 -- November/December Secret Swap
You won't swap with a partner this time around. You won't know who your swap partner is until you receive the quilt. It's all hush, hush, surprise.

The doll quilt swaps have been great fun. We just started in May, but we've grown from 12 swappers to 40+! There are some links below if you want to see the beauties that have been created.

DOLL QUILT SWAP GUIDELINES

SIZE: from 12”x12” to 24”x24”…any size or shape in between.

MATERIALS: natural fibers/cotton, wool, linen

EMBELLISHMENTS: if you want to use them, feel free…beads, rickrack, buttons, doilies, ribbon, lace…anything or nothing at all.

CONSTRUCTION: Pieced, appliquéd, wholecloth, or yo-yos; quilted by hand or machine; and bound.

LABEL: It is recommended that you attach a label to the back of your quilt. I know, this can be a bit scary for some people though, so it will not be a requirement. A label is however a very nice addition to any handmade quilt. Whether or not you decide to label your quilt, please do include a note with your quilt with your quilting board name, real name and contact information (snail mail address and/or email address, etc. so that they can thank you). And I probably don't have to say this, but when you receive something, please thank the sender.

PARTNERS: I will send you a PM with the board name and address of your partner. Keep this a secret this time around! You will surprise your partner with a handmade doll quilt!

DUE DATE: The deadline for all quilts to be sent is December 31, 2009.

COMMUNICATION: If for any reason you cannot meet the deadline or you need to drop out of this swap, please let me know as soon as you know. If you communicate any setbacks with me I can make sure things work out favorably for your partner, no hard feelings.

SIGN UP: Sign up begins today and ends October 31, 2009. I’ll PM you with your partner's information after that date.

If you would like to sign up, send me a PM with your address. Please let me know if you are willing to send internationally as we have several members outside of the US.

I'm In. I'll PM you.

Rhonda 10-17-2009 09:10 AM

I'm in! International is fine. So we keep it secret from the others but we are still paired with a partner. Can we pm our partner or not since each pair will know who their partner is? Or is it more random than an actual pairing? Just curious.

SulaBug 10-17-2009 09:15 AM

Count me in too, this time!! :D
I will PM you, my information.
Can hardly wait!! EXCITED!!
:D :D :D

Im in! International is ok-dokey with me. I have two little girls- the oldest one, 2, is just starting to play with babies. This will be fun for her to get in the mail!

wvdek 10-17-2009 12:38 PM

Me too, please. I can't wait.

Chele 10-17-2009 01:01 PM

The theme for the doll quilt is up to the sender. It doesn't have to be holiday themed.

We will not be paired for this swap. For example, I might send a quilt to Rhonda and Rhonda sends a quilt to Lacelady. There may be a coincidence where two names get the same partner, but I plan to print two sets of names and randomly pick names from two different bowls. Does that make sense? It's hard to explain!

The main difference in this swap is keeping the person you send to a secret, so it will be a big surprise for the recipient. So no hints! Suspense and anticipation will be a fun change.

We're getting a great response and I'm always happy to see new swappers! You guys are the best doll quilt swappers ever.

Ninnie 10-17-2009 01:17 PM

This is such a great idea, Chele!!! I love doing it this way!
Now to see if I can keep mine a secret

blueribbontoes 10-17-2009 06:56 PM

I had some free time, so not only did I sew a top and backing/label, I also made a matching something to go with it. Tomorrow, I bind and box. :) I won't seal the package yet- I know I'll feel compelled to add more goodies. Yay me!! Lol...

blueribbontoes 10-17-2009 06:57 PM

OH! Can I be signed up for two since I have 2 little girls? I have time to make another!

I'd like to join in! I've been admiring these beauties, just kept missing the posting until it was too late to sign up - or too late for me to be sure I'd be abel to meet the deadline for mailing. Not this time, though! Yeah!!

I can do international or w/in the USA.

Sending a PM, Chele.

craftiladi 10-18-2009 08:50 AM

I would love to be counted in on this swap...all the directions sound like something even I can handle but I have never done anything like this so I am sure I might a have a question or two but I will look for answers on the boards before bugging you.
