I was thinking about joining this swap, but I have a question first. Do we just do one block that measures 12 1/2?

Thanks,

Rhonda 10-24-2012 02:13 PM

Yes you make one quilt block. But it has to be one I designed. So follow any of the lists I posted to find one you like.

You will need a 2 1/2" template to make these. So if you need one let me know and I will send you one.

I have found the block that I love the most! The Ashley. I have lots of scraps that I inherited from my grandmother and have the perfect colors that I will be sharing with my partner. Hope she likes them! Dad will be having eye surgery on Thursday and I will be working on this.

stitchengramie 11-01-2012 01:59 AM

Rhonda can you still add me to the list? I forgot to sign up for this month.

stitchengramie 11-01-2012 02:03 AM

I just notice that I am on the list. Sorry! My mind has been on ends the past few days. The doctors think, that my 10 year old granddaughter may have Cystic Fibrosis. She was tested yesterday and we are just wait for the results.

Rhonda 11-01-2012 10:41 AM

Praying for good results Mary!!

I got to work on my block last night. I was horrible at judging how much fabric of one color! I am short!! Guess there is a trip to The Fabric Shoppe in my future this week. I hope to have it finished by the week end.

Enjoy your day!

Rhonda 11-06-2012 11:20 PM

Okay I worked on my albums and now you can find all of my quilt blocks in my albums.
Here is the link. You will also see the layout for each quilt block. If you have any problems with understanding the layouts just let me know.

queenof2802 11-08-2012 03:30 PM

Darn! Went to The Fabric Shoppe, and they do not have the fabric I am in need of!! Had to get a different color. Guess I will have to redo what I have already finished! Oh, well. It is my fault that I didn't measure twice, cut once. Those boys are smart at something!!

Good morning girls! Sorry I have been MIA. Lost my job earlier this month, Thanksgiving week, and trying to locate a new job before the bills start pilling up have had my attention. Not to worry about my block. I am finishing up tonight. Had to start a new one. After I had it all stitched together, measured it and it was short, measured 12 3/4"!! Looking over it I saw where I forgot to reset my machine to 1/4! I had been sewing doll clothes for my neice. Oh, well. I have have to make her a doll quilt too!

Enjoy your day!

josykatz 11-28-2012 11:54 AM

Well I finished my blocks for my first swap and have mailed them out today. I had a fun time working them up. I did a Bessie Block Layout and a Maisie Block Layout. I wanted to do one with the Wings block but I had a bit of trouble with it and since it is something I'm sending out for someone else to use I wanted to make sure I reached the 12.5 inch requirement. I'm hoping to make one for next month.

So sorry about losing your job Queen! When you go over the size you can go back and tighten up your seams if you like. Can't wait to see your quilt block!

Thanks for letting me know you mailed them! I am sure the quilters who get them will love them!

Love this one! the colors work together. It isn't a combination I would have thought of!

josykatz 11-29-2012 03:37 AM

Wow that is beautiful and I love the optical illusion it creates. Just a fantastic play on color choices.

I had an interview with a different company today. They have scheduled a second one for Monday afternoon. Looks good. Also, I had an e-mail from a different company I interviewed with last week. They are having a hard time getting one of my former employers to complete the job verification. So things are looking up. Just gotta keep my head up and pray.

As for my block, I did not make it to the PO. That is on my list to do tomorrow. Sorry I let the deadline catch up with me. I had fun picking out the fabrics (since I had to do two!), learning a new technique and stitching it together. I will post a picture after my partner gets it. Don't want to spoil her surprize!

My sewing machine is calling my name! I decided to make my 6yo neice's American Girl a new wardrobe for Christmas, and Aunt T can't dissapoint.

Hugs!

queenof2802 11-30-2012 05:13 PM

BTW- did you do a new sign up for December? If so, I would like to do another month. Just could find a link. Please send it to me.

Thanks!

josykatz 12-03-2012 04:04 PM

I am also wondering about a december swap. Ive finished last months and sent it out last week but never heard back from my partners if they recieved them nor have i recieved mine yet thou it is still early days if they mailed out at end of month.

Rhonda 12-03-2012 04:14 PM

Before I start another swap I need to know if we have enough swappers. We need at least 6 people to swap.
As long as there is enough interest I will continue them.

I had thought about skipping Dec as it is such a busy time for most people.

So let me know if we have enough to continue!

sgardner 12-05-2012 12:58 AM

1) I'm in for December, if we are still on.

2) Josykatz- yes, I did get your block. Sorry for not posting sooner. This month, I had 3 quilts on my Long Arm- I am not normally that packed in, but it just turned out that way. One was a Bronze Star Quilt, one was a Purple Heart Quilt, and the third was a patriotic one that is going to a widow who lost her husband earlier this year in Afghanistan. That made my blocks a tiny bit late.

3) The two blocks I owe will be mailed by the end of this week, I promise. (probably with a little something extra for being late.)

Shelley

queenof2802 12-05-2012 02:21 PM

I would be in for either December or waiting til January. My new job starts on Tuesday. YAY!! Now I can breathe. Bills were coming due and DH's paycheck was not going to be able to pay them, buy fabric and Christmas presents. Unemployment is so hard to get approved now. There are so many hoops you have to jump through. Once they are met, then you have a waiting period. Can't beleive I have been out of work for 4 weeks. I know there are others that have been out longer than that and they are still looking. Feeling blessed.

Rhonda 12-05-2012 03:06 PM

Well that makes 3 who want to do a Dec one so if you do want to that is alright by me. I just don't have time to make one this month.

Josy and Queen each swap with Shelley works for me unless someone else wants to jump in. I will post a thread for it then. Maybe someone else will join in.
