November Secret Pal Swap Sign-Ups-Closes at midnight October 31 - Come join the fun!
 

This is a monthly secret pal swap. There is a sign up every month, and you can
choose whether or not to participate each month. You will get a different partner each month, and the person you send to will may be different than the person you receive from. Failure to send your package after signing up will be cause to be banned from all future swaps. Please do not sign up if you cannot fulfill your obligation. Have fun and be creative!

After receiving your Secret Pal’s details, go to work and put together a package with something you think your pal would like. There is a $15.00 limit on this swap that does not include what you have in your stash. (This does not include shipping) Most swappers do not mind like-new stash items. Please send items you would like to receive. Do not send smelly, holey, thin, or stained fabric. You will need to send me (hav4boys) a PM when mailing and receiving. This way I can keep my records straight. Also send a PM to your SP thanking them. This is an important part of participating. It lets your secret pal know you got their package.

Please take pictures and post in group as everyone likes to see what you get.

Packages need to be mailed out by November 20th, this is a Firm deadline. All International mailings must be mailed by November 10th Firm. If you know that you cannot mail by that date, Please Do Not sign up.

For international mailing it is very important that you mark your parcel as a 'Gift' on the Customs Declaration (there's a box you can check). Also, the value should be $10 only (even if you send diamond necklace). The person receiving the package is liable for Import Duty, Tax and a Handling fee. This can cost the person receiving as much as $40.

Padded envelopes are much cheaper to send compared to small boxes. These can be ordered free of charge from the USPS website.

Sign Ups will close October 31 at midnight PST and names will be sent out no later than November 2nd (Usually the first, but like to give myself some leeway).

If your pal does not receive her/his package within a reasonable time I will need tracking information. If there is an exception on the mailing, you will need to inform me ASAP. No one enjoys not getting a package after they have sent one.

A little note for international shipping. If you have any advice about shipping, please share. I know one participant uses pirate shipping (I believe that is the name) and it was much cheaper to ship. I also see DHL is a much cheaper shipping service to.

Any one have experience?

I have used pirate shipping and it is cheaper but you can't use USPS envelopes or boxes.

Hmmmm…. That’s interesting, as I use pirate ship and send the bubble mailers flat rate almost every month. I don’t get much of a price break on them though. The biggest savings I’ve seen have been with international and first class domestic. I just sent one first class today for 4 that would have been 7. Last month I had to mail through the post for international and paid the same for first class as priority costs me on pirate ship. I definitely recommend checking it out! 😊

How is everyone. Busy her. Made a quilt for a friend's 60th birthday. She picked colors and I made it. Post a picture once I am on the computer.

Tons of luscious beige fabrics (my wanted item), a stunning precut bundle with two sizes of fabric, an adorable sewing machine pattern, two spools of Aurifil thread, a Fall 3-D card with hot chocolate and tea in it, cutter blades (another loved item), a chocolate bar, and the most precious "thimble-shaped" beeswax hanging from a clasp for my thread!

My mom is happy because then I won't steal her slippers!! :) And I love the pinks and greens you picked! Glad you liked them Patti. Always worry when I pick fabric for others as I always lean towards happy, loud, and bright patterns.

That's wonderful that you have been able to use USPS envelopes/boxes with pirate shipping. The one time I did, I ended up paying USPS the difference between their shipping and pirate shipping. So I'm just use plain boxes/envelopes if I ship with pirate.

Received and Loved! Thank you sooooo much for all the wonderful goodies! A mask that I will actually be able breathe in while wearing. Ispy prints, m&m’s (yumm), a book with some really cute patterns in it, a wonderful cooler bag that is going to be great when I go to the grocery tomorrow, kids think they need food, lol. Don’t feel sorry for them, they can fend for themselves they are all over 21. Pins. I love these pins. And kitty goodies - Mudflap, Itty Bit, EZ and Timone thank you too!

Opened my SP package from Annaquilts today. It was so lovely to see all the pretty fabric, machingers, scissors, chocolate etc. I hope to post a pic soon. Thank you Annaquilts.

Good Morning, I received my package from Musicaljan yesterday. She sent a cute goat t-shirt, hopefully you can see it in the photo. It's really hard to find anything with goats on it and this one is super cute. Also I received a beginner friendly quilt pattern, fabric squares, yarn and a cookbook.
