October Pincushion/Needlecase Swap - Breast Cancer Awareness Month
 

This is a secret swap. You will not necessarily be sending to the person who will send to you. Please do not contact your secret partner. We will be making one SET (1 pc and 1 nc) for 1 name. All skill levels welcome!

THEME: This month the theme with be to honor "Breast Cancer Awareness Month". Please use either the pink ribbon or just the color pink.

CONSTRUCTION:

1. The cushion/case does not have to be quilted or hand embroidered, although it can be. But it must be handmade - not purchased.


2. Use cotton or wool felt for the pincushions and stuff with appropriate filling. Use cotton or felt for the needle case, and it should have an insert of wool, felt, or Warm and Natural (this is great for needle cases).


3. Embellishments/appliqué/embroidery are welcome but not required. If you plan on using the cushion/case as a daily use item please mention this, as polyester will dull the points of pins and needles.


4. The size and shape of the pincushion/needle case is up to the individual creating it, but should not be smaller than 3” x 3”.

SIGNUP: Signup begins today and ends on September 30 at 11:00 pm EST. This is a firm closing time. Names will be assigned by PM beginning no later than the morning of October 2. Please respond to this thread with a post if you are joining the swap. Then highlight and copy the information sheet onto a new PM, fill it in and PM it to me. I will acknowledge receipt of your PM.

MAILING DATE: The deadline for mailing is Thursday October 22. Participants in the September swap who did not fulfill their obligation by the time the October signup closes will not be able to participate in this swap. You are required to PM me with your tracking number when you ship. You are required to have a tracking number on your package but priority mail is not required. First class with a tracking number is acceptable. If for some reason you will not be able to fulfill your obligation, please PM me as soon as possible so that I can locate a swap angel.

YOU MUST SEND ME A PM WHEN YOU SHIP AND WHEN YOU RECEIVE. Remember to thank your partner, either by a post, or a PM for a personal thank you. It would be nice if you report a feedback score to your SP. Pictures are encouraged, but not required. We all love seeing what everyone is receiving. If you are unable to post a picture, please make sure that you mark that on your information sheet so that your partner can take a picture before shipping it. Please understand that this board has members with different skill levels and you will not necessarily be swapping with someone at the same level. Let's love the creation we are sent. We all started somewhere and the most important thing to remember, is that your partner made it with you in mind!

EXTRAS: Please add a card or note with your name and board name so the recipient knows who made it. It is not necessary to send other items such as needles, pins, etc., but you may if you would like. Just make sure the pin points will not poke out during shipping and stab the postal worker.

We have a slow rainy day here today. Cooler, and nice. :)

Wish we did today, 94 was the high. Usually I hibernate in the house when it's freezing cold or hot...not today. Hubby had to go to North Dakota for a funeral, very short notice...yesterday, so I did all he was scheduled to do today. Then booked my airfare to Florida, oldest son is finally getting married. Will be looking forward to the nice Florida weather the first part of November :) when it is snowing and blowing and freezing here :)

Guess I need to sit this one out and next month for sure, I got my apartment and move in date is October 29TH.. will have my furniture, etc moved on Monday Nov 2. Hopefully I can get into the Christmas swap if Karen will remind me, or Sis maybe you could, already have a Pincushion made, has taken me 3 years to get it finished and it's all by hand... I have bee sick for the past 3 days, my son was here for a week and we ran every day.. After he left I tried to catch up..... BIG mistake...Will try to check in once in awhile, I do love you all... Got my pincushion done for this swap and started the needlebook. I thought this would be a harder theme ,but really it seemed to just come together.

I will try to get some more of mine done today. Didn't do anything yesterday, because we all got together to celebrate my dad's 83rd birthday. We all had fun. My son and daughter in law were there too, and announced they are planning a wedding for next September 28th for a renewal of their vows. He said he is going to build a gazebo for them to get married in, and have a live band. I am so glad I have a year ahead to plan for this. lol....

Susan, congratulations to your son. renewal is such a sweet thing to do,yet most won't do it.

It was a little humid today but only 69 so I'm not complaining. I did go for a ride in the country and the leaves are starting to turn. It was a weekend of chasing the train and this is the best pic of the whole weekend. Can't thank the police enough for their service

pat were the police there to get ya? lol. Were they the quilting police? Looks like a fun time. Leaves are just, starting to turn a tiny bit here. Temps have dropped to a very comfy 75-80 day and 60-65 nights. No need of fans or anything. Been just perfect. Gonna start dropping this next week. About 10 degrees. Have a good evening.

Mary they don't want me. They have their hands full with all the crime in Akron. I was surprised to see them there. Maybe the quilt police would be after me if I was doing any quilting. At least this morning I did finally choose what I'm going to make and even have the fabric too. You should join the Mug Rug swap. It's really fun.

People must be ending summer stuff and getting ready for winter....I finished mine today unless I have the partner I have had before...then I need to come up with a new idea. I think I'm saved, got one in mind :)

I'd love to get into the swap but am really into trying to get things done, actual moving(with movers) date is November 3rd.. I get the keys 10/29... Then I can mentally put the furniture where I want... am also moving a decorated 5 ft Christmas tree, need to call the movers abut that today, forgot yesterday. Things are on track...
