Heah there, these swaps are FUN you will enjoy it. I have done it for a year or so now and really enjoy getting MY ss packages together. It's fun to try and fill their 'wants as well as their needs'. Enjoy it!!

BTW: where in Tx are you? Im in the DFW area.

LAQUITA 10-01-2012 02:55 PM

Sharon, thank you for well wishes for Shea, today she got a 'wound vac" and Lord willing we would like to be able to go home tomorrow.

As for me, I have lost right at 20 pounds in a little over 6 weeks. I am so thankful for this. But still have a long way to go! Thank you for asking!! Your too sweet! :) :) :)

Well, one month I got a pony with a little saddle and quilted blanket to keep him warm. Then, of course, there were the monkeys, although sometimes they get in trouble and make a mess in my studio. Loved, loved loved the Smithfield ham. Oh! and the bicycle. You never know what you'll get!

Susan, he looks like a puppy, I bet he will be such a great addition to your family. I have a friend in Northern California that Trains Dogs for companion dogs. Your Dog sure is pretty.

I love the blocks behind the smoker, you have some very interesting things you have received Krystyna! October should be a good month for Candy I think!

We live in town and get masses of trick or treaters, I love it, my husband is always thinking of ways to scare the poor kids who come to the door, but mostly he scares the parents. The spiders drop down behind the kids but Moms and Dads see them!

crafty grammie 10-02-2012 04:35 AM

I hope todaY is the day for our names,we will be starting the SHOP HOP in the morning Im ,sure I can find some goodies there, there are 12 shops to go to,but I can't make all of them as some are to far away.

Crafty Darlene 10-02-2012 07:06 AM

Good Morning! Hope everyone has a great day today! I'm with you, can't wait to get my new pals name!

Me too! This month we're all getting MITTENS!!!

jaba 10-02-2012 07:53 AM

I might need those this week Krystyna, please send in a hurry....suppose to start raining tonight and tomorrow snow and then again on Friday. I sure hope not, absolutely don't want winter yet. Those little eyes sure gives them some personality very cute.
I miss those little trick or treaters don't get too many in this little rural town, think I had a whopping 6 or 8 last year. Love to see all the costumes so cute. I wouldn't want to come to your door maryt, those spiders would be the death of me. Spiders and snakes, mercy I get the chills just typing their name. Waiting for my name, box is waiting, 1 sitting there for SP and 1 for secret santa, can't wait. Love to fill them and send presents.

Ummm, could you skip the mittens for me please? When we first moved down here I'd just stocked up on gloves as I was wont to do in the NE, always losing 'em, leaving 'em, you know the drill....second yard sale we had all 12 pairs of brand new gloves and mittens GONE...gee I miss Filene's Basement:D

I'm afraid Ray and the moneys would fight, so I guess I better skip them too....

We got NO trick or treaters. I hate it..we used to make up those little treat bags and would give out 70 to 80 every Halloween. In over 20 years we've never had even one. We annually pick out one bag of small bars we both like just in case....shoot when I was a kid, I loved apartment buildings, you could really clean up on candy fast.

Really handsome looking dog Susan, I hope you two get on well. Bet the training is tiring, tho.

buslady 10-02-2012 11:15 AM

Prayers out to Shea! Sounds like she has been through a LOT!! Never heard of what she has, sounds terrible.
I'm thinking that if I get someone from southwest of me I will have the perfect "local" gift to send. The leaves are turning around here and the color is just brilliant!! LOL We are going north for the weekend and I think the color will be stupendous. At any rate, I know of 2 quilt shows in the area and I plan on getting to at least one of them!!
I don't remember getting a trick or treater at our house in the 30 years we lived there. DH was really excited that he could pass out candy this year, then I told him that the community's tradition was for everyone to bring their candy down to the club house and pass it out there. I wonder how "written in blood" that policy is?! My DGD has talked of nothing else except decorating my place. Says we are gonna have the scariest house ever!
K, I was reading your post and it reminded me of something that happened a Loooong time ago. My mom and I were headed to DH's grandparents house for my bridal shower, there was a little zoo down one of the back roads in our very rural area, and it was not uncommon to take that road, even though it was gravel. Anyway, we got just past the "zoo" and there was a monkey in the road. Sooooo, I stopped the car and opened the door. Don't ask me why. Anyway, the monkey jumped in. My mom jumped out, so did I. So here we are standing in the middle of the road with both car doors open and a monkey in the back seat. Well, we must have scarred that poor animal half silly, cause after he bit the flashcubes for my camera (remember those?), he jumped out and ran accross the field!!! We went back to find someone to report the escapee to, and when we returned found the monkey up the road playing catch with some kids in their front yard. Now, that's a MONKEY story!! And it is true. I think I'll pass on the monkey's, thank you.

buslady 10-02-2012 11:17 AM

Oh, Susan, what a great companion you have there. Such a little cutie pie, but I'll bet he's a hard worker, as well. Have fun training with him.

luvstoquilt 10-02-2012 11:20 AM

What a lovely pup. I bet you are in love already! Thrilled for you!!!

Krystyna 10-02-2012 11:39 AM

Onalee, that is the funniest monkey story ever! I just wish I could have seen it ... back in the day when I had a stronger bladder and wouldn't have had difficulties while laughing my posterior off!

LAQUITA 10-02-2012 01:29 PM

Thanks everyone for the well wishes & prayers for Shea. We are still at the hosptial but she is improving daily.

As for our SS have the names gone out yet? Im anxious to get my names too, so I can start searching online for a few 'extra' things while Im sitting here at the hospitla. Ebay is great, or is it??? :( ???? I think so but hubby....not so sure!! LOL :)

TOOMANYUFO'S 10-02-2012 01:51 PM

I haven't read all of the post, but has anyone heard from Lori? Has she said that the names would be late? I worry that something is not well with her.

cannyquilter 10-02-2012 02:41 PM

Hi swappers, just got my name from Lori and 1st clue is she is a regular on the swap thread.

Can I also send out a message to whoever gets my name. Please DO NOT send priority, it costs a fortune, and although it may mean the package comes a bit quicker, even ordinary mail usually only takes on average 10 days so if posted by earlier deadline the package usually is here by 20th of month.

I feel really guilty when I see the postage that has been paid using priority so to whoever gets my name standard mail is OKAY.

Eileen

SEGASAL 10-02-2012 02:42 PM

Thanks for all of the well wishes. I am getting along well with Meadow the trainer said today that I am leaps and bounds ahead of anyone that she has ever trained. So we maybe done earlier than she thought. We are planning a graduation ceremony for October 20th (this is the of my 5th wedding anniversary as well) there will an opportunity for the community to come out and get to meet meadow and myself. If anyone is interested in Supporting Occupaws on my behalf they are always accepting donations. Just PM me and I would be happy to send you the link

mdall 10-02-2012 03:14 PM

So glad to hear that names are going out. Cant wait to get mine. To all those who are having troubles, prayers and good wishes going out to you. Susan, congrats on the progress with training and Meadow is a cutie.

To whomever receives my name there is one thing that I forgot to put on my list. I really could use an address book. Have looked at all the local stores here in Podunk and no luck.

Off Topic Alert: I have been thinking about an idea for a quilt for next years quild show. I have this picture stuck in my head after seeing a similar one on T.V. I was wondering what everyone thinks of it. I know it will be difficult to get it down but I really love it and the oddness of it. Tell me what you think go for it or way to wierd.

Vanogay 10-02-2012 03:58 PM

Mdall, I think the picture is beautiful, not wierd. However, that being said, I would have loads of problems trying to capture that in fabric and have it look like the picture. If you feel you can, don't let anyone take that away - YOU GO GIRL!

mdall 10-02-2012 04:12 PM

Vanogay, thanks for your input. I too thought about how hard it would be to get all the effects in there to get it looking even close to the pic. I have read some articles on some markers that are used for adding dimension to appliques so I think I may try those out for some added interest. Also, I forgot to mention that I would be leaving the wings out of the picture since I am not to hot on those.

marytoddliz 10-02-2012 04:12 PM

I agree with Kathleen, if you can do it! How awesome that will be.

If I had to do it I would have nightmares because I am scared to death of snakes. my hubby has a little plastic one that every once in awhile I find it hiding! pay back is tough though I stitched the bottom of his boxers together! Don't mess with a quilter! He was just lucky he was not wearing them!

TheMamaHauser 10-02-2012 04:14 PM

Can I just tell you ladies that we're forecasted for snow starting tonight?

It looks like a Heaven And Earth Design cross stitch. If it isn't, I bet you could convert it.

I also bet it would take you 12.3 years to complete it as a cross stitch.

wanda lou 10-02-2012 04:18 PM

Marybeth that is so funny, don't mess with a quilter! I bet he got a good laugh.
