October Secret Pal Swap Signup Closes September 30th 4pm CST

September Secret Pal Swap
Description:
This is a monthly secret pal swap. There is a sign up every month, and you can choose whether or not to participate each month. You will get a different partner every month, and the person you send to will be different than the person you receive from.

1) YOU NEED TO SEND THE HOSTESS A PRIVATE MESSAGE WHEN YOU MAIL YOUR PACKAGE TO YOUR SECRETPAL.

2)ONCE YOU GET YOUR PACKAGE FROM YOUR SECRET PAL, YOU WILL NEED TO SEND A PRIVATE MESSAGE TO THE PERSON WHO SENT THE PACKAGE TO YOU TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU DID RECEIVE IT AND TO THANK THE SENDER.

3) AFTER YOU HAVE THANKED YOUR SECRET PAL, YOU WILL NEED TO SEND ME A PRIVATE MESSAGE TELLING ME THAT YOU HAVE RECEIVED YOUR PACKAGE SO THAT I CAN KEEP ACCURATE RECORDS.

FAILURE TO SEND THESE PRIVATE MESSAGES IS REASON ENOUGHTO BE BANNED FROM THE NEXT MONTHS SWAP.

PACKAGES NEED TO BE SENT OUT BY October 15th this is a FIRM deadline (NOT A SUGGESTION). IF YOU KNOW THAT YOU CANNOT MAIL BY THAT DATE, PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP. You can send your package as early as you'd like!

If you are sending an international package it will need to be mailed by the 10th of October. Due to mail processing, our mail dates for international mailing has to be as early as possible! No later than the 10th of October. It can take many weeks to reach your SP so any delays in mailing can delay the start of the next month’s sign-up sheet being posted.

Ready for October's swap.
Off topic: For a few months I was asking for black on white and white on black fabrics from my SP which several did send for a quilt I made for my SIL for Christmas. How about that one done!! It will go to the LAQ in Dec.

verna2197 09-26-2013 05:43 AM

I'm in again this month. I think this time it will only be 2. Love this swap. Thank you Lori for everything you do.

Well I finally took the plunge and started my paperwork for SS Disability. Keep your fingers crossed. Going to see the Orthopedic Surgeon today. Lots of problems. Left Rotator cuff is shot, already had the right one operated on twice. No cartlidge in my knees, they are all swollen and every step I take you can hear my knees pop and crack. Lots of pain. Say a prayer please.

cherrio 09-26-2013 07:05 AM

Lordy girl! hope the doc can give you something to at least keep the sewing arm and foot pedal foot in business! now seriously-good luck with the ss paperwork. and hope you find relief and feel a bit better tomorrow!

I am going to set this month out as we leave the 25th of October for Texas and not sure the package would get here before we leave. I will be looking for Novembers though and enjoy following you all with yours.

Good luck Verna on the SS. I am at the wait stage of a hearing. Will be a year since filing and now they say I won't get a hearing till next Summer. Ridiculous wait. I hope yours goes quicker then mine.
I am now confined to bed. Early, early, Tuesday morning I was in excrusitating pain. Couldn't walk, sit, on laying I could do was almost completely on my stomach. Was a crying day. Doctor got me in Tuesday, she believes I ruptured a disk. So on high does of pain meds, sterroids, go back Weds. If swelling down they will schedule a milligram cat scan. As I have neurostimulator implant in my back so I can't have a MRI now. I have degenerating disk disease so it a surprise this happens and not doing anything. I already have a pinched nerve in lower back and 3 disks in neck messed up. One compressing on the spinal cord. Arthritis, chronic migraines, 2 rotary cuff surgeries and still not right, and fibromayalgia. All this and disability turns me down. Got to love the government! I wish you the best of luck and I hope you can get it quickly.

catjo 09-26-2013 02:31 PM

I'm in again. I have a box already filled, just need to find out some likes of my pal and then I can get it out the door. I just love this group of swappers. Everyone is so generous!

Grandma Peg 09-26-2013 06:41 PM

Cathy so sorry to hear about your pain and prayers to you.
verna good luck with your situation and prayers.

wanda lou 09-27-2013 01:24 AM

wanda lou 09-27-2013 01:25 AM

Glad your back Miss Brenda !!

verna2197 09-27-2013 11:11 AM

catjo, I just can't believe all the hoops that make us jump. My sister fought tooth and nail for her SS and when she finally got it she passed away 6 months later. Also having to get a lawyer to help, they get a percentage of the back pay. Not sure how much. Just upsets me that we have to fight for it when we paid the monies in while we worked.

Bullock2us 09-27-2013 01:25 PM

I am new to the swaps and just wondering if this one is for sewing items or any items or what? I have read the instructions but still not really quite sure. Could someone please clarify for the blonde person here? Thanks

mscupid804 09-27-2013 01:29 PM

Bullock2us, it can be anything really but that's why we fill out the info. We generally go by that info to get what our SP wants/requests. It's a great guideline but you can certainly add on extras if you want that's not quilting, a lot of us do! Just have fun w/it!

Bullock2us 09-27-2013 01:42 PM

Thanks so much -that is just what I wanted to know-sounds like fun!

Check out some of the pictures from this months swap and some of the past months swaps. That will give you some ideas of what to send. It's a fun swap and it is not stressful unless you make it that way. We have a lot of fun on here. Lori is a great host and can help you with whatever you need.Or sometimes the rest of help.Hope to see you in the swap and also hope you are a poster.Mary

newquilter10 09-28-2013 09:02 AM

I am in for October after all. Our fearless and wonderful leader says the mailing date is good to get it here by the 25th. This is so much fun.

They get 25% of it. I did everything up to the point the appeal will now go in front of the judge, and I felt I needed a lawyer just to be covered for judicial purposes and not get walked over. They want you in so much debt before you get it that all the back pay has to be used to pay for everything your behind on. Ridiculous process. The attorney says they do that to weed out the people who really don't need it.
This past week they think I ruptured another disk in my back, so I continue to lay in bed. Was up too much today and paying for it today. Husband said, "you better tell the attorney". My wording was, it has to be confirmed or the SS won't care. That is what the attorney says. It all has to be down confirmed on paper before they will even consider it. Just unfortunate we have to go through so much. I checked to see if the process could be speeded up and you either have to be terminal or how being foreclosed on before they will consider your hearing date to be moved up.
I am so sorry for your sister. That is an example of why I am so upset with the process. It is almost if they are waiting you out.
My husbands ex was working and hurt her back, and the workers comp doctor got her SS and she only had one back surgery. Here I have all these problems and 6 back surgeries and I repeatedly get turned down. Something is definitely wrong with our system.

I agree. I know I try to get the stuff on peoples list and then I put a little of this and that too. Magazines, books, patterns, fabric, candy, thread, lace, ribbon, ornaments, just whatever goodies you would think the person would like. Can come from your stash or you can purchase. I think in this group we all welcome used things. We just have fun with it. Some of us post clues for our SP to see if they can guess who has them as their SP. Glas to have you join with us.

Thanks everyone for the prayers. I am still here in bed. I have numbness now in my abdomen and private area. The nurse practioner wanted me to go for an Xray. But the doctor said to wait till swelling was down and she was going to schedule a milligram cat scan for me. So I haven't went to Urgent Care to have the Xray. If I get worse I will. I have a neurostimulator in my back so I can't have MRI's anymore. I have found that nothing seems easy with my body. Will keep everyone posted as things go. Meanwhile, just laying around, very bored.

We had a beautiful quilt show for our guild this weekend. I only got one entry made, plus a challenge quilt from year before last (we do a show every other year, so next one is Sept 2015). It is called the Rainbow Connection, as it is made from many rainbow bits I was gifted with or made bits of. There are pieces from several swap partners in here, and it was quilted for me by Sewdamncute! https://scontent-a-ord.xx.fbcdn.net/...33202958_n.jpg
