I do have a lot of fabric here at home, but if I don't have anything suitable for the assigned block, then what? Can we pick someone who wants a block in colors we already have on hand?

Unfortunately, I pick partners at random. :(

Many of us are open to doing more than one block a month, you could cruise the list. Find themes that could work with what you have on hand and pm the other person to see if they are open to an extra block.

brushandthimble 02-10-2010 05:44 AM

Great Blocks!
I have blocks sitting here in the envelope waiting to go to the post office for JaneCat.... Sharing one car between DH and DS, won't make the post office today, storm coming....maybe tomorrow:)
I will post pictures later today of two blocks from JaneCat, I love them, you did an awesome job! Thank you!!!

sew cornie 02-10-2010 10:16 AM

Great idea NorBana. Due to time constraints, I don't have a star by my name to be available for sideswaps, but I'd make an exception here for your circumstances 7armadillos.

LadyGen, I received your adorable lotto block today! I laid out all the mini blocks, and they are GREAT!!!

Now I have to get busy making my contribution. :)

Moosegirl, THANK YOU for the extra 6" inch block for myself! It is adorable! I love it! I need to learn all the fancy embroidery that you do- it is an amazing little block! :) Every time I look at it, I see something new! You're so sweet to send me treats!

Samroberts01 mailed me a great red and white star. This quilt is going to be amazing!! I need to put up pictures soon,

THANKS EVERYONE!

...ANd if you haven't submitted your lottery block, there is still tons of time! Remember, you have to enter the lottery in order to have a chance to win. (And you'll want to win this set of blocks, they're so much fun!)

STAR 02-11-2010 12:59 PM

You ladies are really pushing me to try the pieced blocks. I do not have much experience with that - I mostly do applique and crayon quilts but I am loving all of the blocks and it is amazing how different the same pattern looks when you just change the fabric. I may learn something new - perhaps an old dog can learn new tricks. Thanks for your friendship and all of the wonderful support.

dettonlisas 02-12-2010 10:54 AM

You Can DO IT!!! There are ALL different skill levels on this site! Dont worry!! Just try it! It's lots of fun!!

Hi Tam1960,

Could you explain what a crayon quilt is? I haven't heard this term before.

MadQuilter 02-12-2010 12:52 PM

I recently took a class for crayon quilts. You actually color the design on muslin using Crayola crayons. Then you iron off the wax between paper towels or brown paper. Any embelishments can be made with outline markers, embroidery floss, or whatever.... It's fun.

Reneebobby - glad the block arrived! No rush on the one you're sending. I completely understand the math-not-working issue. (Happens with my checkbook, too... hmmm.)

Tam...Moo 02-12-2010 01:59 PM

Mad Quilter is right - it is so simple and lots of fun. I did a quilt last year with children doing all kinds of activities and donated it to St. Judes through the local Hancock Fabric Store. I guess the kid in me just likes to color so why not? I am working on a plaid cat quilt for my sister who is going through Chemotherapy and it really looks cool with the crayon colors. Try it - you may like it!

sew cornie 02-12-2010 02:02 PM

These latest blocks are all so great.

April, that's a fantastic collection! Lucky you!

Thanks for the info MadQuilter and Tam1960. Sounds very interesting. I already do fabric painting and colourque - does this mean I now have to buy crayons? I think it does!

Make sure it's the Crayola brand (or some other high quality crayon). Apparently it doesn't work with the cheap ones.
