Just checking: are those sizes accurate? It seems a narrow range to me.

Because we want to keep this doable, with sizes that are achievable, we're keeping this to lap size-- anywhere from 45x60 to 60x60.

I sent you a PM. If you need more info, just PM me.

jillaine 10-11-2011 02:29 PM

Now up to 12 !!! I'm getting excited.

boohoofish 10-11-2011 04:03 PM

Very interested in this but a question - how is the quilt to be quilted? by hand, LAQ or domestic machine. Can it be a mixture of two types of quilting. Carol

madamekelly 10-11-2011 04:09 PM

I can quilt on my domestic machine, or I can tie them. I might be able to hand quilt using the method called 'big stitch', since I can't see well enough to do regular hand quilting. I can't afford to 'quilt by check' at this time. I hope this is OK.

jillaine 10-11-2011 04:16 PM

The quilting is up to the giver.

fabric_fancy 10-11-2011 04:17 PM

i'll be machine quilting mine

shnnn 10-11-2011 06:52 PM

If ya'll are going to wait on me to hand quilt anything we better extend that deadline a few years!!! :D the last thing I started was a 14"x14" square.... it's about 3/4 of the way done nearly a year later

dressmakergurl 10-12-2011 06:28 PM

If we happen to finish before the required date
can we go ahead and send it ?? I am in and will send detailed info after I go look at my stash.

jillaine 10-13-2011 05:51 AM

Finishing before the required date is certainly allowed. I believe I have to wait until the closing date (12/15/2011) before I make matches; I'll check with Patrice as this information is not in the instructions. Mm... yeah, let me check on that right away. Cuz I bet some of us would like to start our quilts now. (The late date is due to the fact that most people who expressed initial interest said they couldn't start until after the holidays.)

watterstide 10-14-2011 02:06 AM

Good Morning !

eagleoneowl2u2 10-14-2011 02:47 PM

I am in, I already PM you right after you posted this Still need to send you the info tho, just been busy getting stuff done for other swaps. I think this time I might have extended myself but I will not let anyone down in my swaps. Even if that means I stay up all night sewing. LOL But I am looking forward to this swap for sure!!!!

jillaine 10-14-2011 06:06 PM

Christina,

I look forward to receiving your answers to the questions.

Jennifer22206 10-16-2011 03:42 PM

I'll be machine quilting mine. there's no way I can hand quilt in that short of time. :) I'm still working on hand quilting my baby quilt for my DD who will be 3 in December. And I started it right when I found out that I was pregnant.

nurse bonnie 10-16-2011 09:46 PM

I would like to do this swap, too. I will send you my info tomorrow nite. This sounds like alot of fun. Definitely different.

charismah 10-18-2011 11:16 AM

Oh with that extended date ...I would LOVE to join this group! I will PM all my info!

tealfalcon 10-18-2011 01:59 PM

Count me in will send info shortly

jillaine 10-18-2011 03:08 PM

This is very exciting. I spent some time this evening comparing who wants what with who wants to make what; so far so good. We do have almost two more months before the signup closes. This is very fun (for me, at least). :-)

I am pretty sure I will be LAQ mine.... ;)

The due date would have to be 2020 if I were to hand quilt something??

jillaine 10-18-2011 06:54 PM

It's up to the maker of the quilt how they would like to quilt it. Just keep in mind that it has to be complete and sent to your swap partner by July 15, 2012.

IrelandDragonQuilting 10-18-2011 07:33 PM

Sent in my info and very excited for this swap!!! Never had a quilt made for me and this is going to be so much fun!

jillaine 10-19-2011 03:09 AM

Oooh! When tealfalcon submits her answers, we'll have TWENTY participants. (I have no idea what a typical size is for a swap...)

I want to encourage folks to get as specific as possible about what they want to receive and make. It's really okay to ask for what you WANT! (It also will help me match partners!)

jillaine 10-19-2011 04:21 AM

22 and growing (I hope!)... By the way, non-U.S. board members are welcome to sign up! We have one from Canada; another from Australia! I will connect people willing & able to deal with international shipping costs.

Terryl 10-19-2011 06:42 AM

I think I'd like to do this but my experience is limited, I am mostly a scrappy/ piecer in my quilting, I do have an embroidery machine so I could do an embroidered quilt if anyone wanted, I would also like to experience something other than what I would normally do for myself, but I REALLY dislike civil war/1930's repos and pastels. So have I disqualified myself from this swap?

Terryl, I would be thrilled to receive one of your quilts. Everybody starts somewhere.

jillaine 10-19-2011 07:35 AM

Terryl, it sounds to me like you've QUALIFIED yourself for this swap. We have participants with a range of experiences. Please do join.
The instructions are in the first message of this thread. (Page 1.)

Terryl 10-19-2011 08:39 AM

Getting all my answers written out now, to PM you this afternoon anything I answer incorrectly please let me know

Sandynorm 10-19-2011 06:36 PM

Sounds like more fun.

marcialee 10-21-2011 04:33 PM

I would love to have one from you too. Not all of us are as talented as some on this board. That is not the point of this. We are making quilts for each other, not the quilt police. In fact, quilt police are not invited to our swaps.

watterstide 10-23-2011 02:52 AM

i am itching to get started on one!

I know.. I keep waiting, and thinking "is it December yet??" But on the 15th, it's my DD's 3rd birthday!!

jillaine 10-23-2011 06:49 AM

Here's the deal: I set the 12/15 deadline because so many people who initially expressed interest said that they would not be able to start until after the holidays.

THAT SAID, a number of you would like to start NOW. PatriceJ tells me that I can start matching/pairing you as soon as I want. And frankly, I've already started the work of finding what I hope will be compatible swap partners.

SO... if you want to get started NOW, let me know via PM (please do not post your answer here) and I'll communicate the partner choices. JUST KNOW that if you want to start right away, the person I partner you with may not be able to start until after the holidays.

But there's no reason why some who want to start now can't.

I look forward to your PMs...
