Hello everyone.

I've created an activity page for us which can be found here: http://www.quiltingboard.com/group_a...sp?gracnum=101

Please just say hello so I know everyone is looking :)

And Group Name ideas please

Cre8tvlwyr 12-25-2010 11:10 AM

OK ... I just went around in a circle :) will put on thinking cap for ideas... looking for theme similarities??

Cre8tvlwyr 12-25-2010 11:14 AM

how about "Coastal Quilters" it seems we are all either on East or West Coast states... by the way city ends in "a" not "s" should PM? you can see from my profile

bookworm 12-25-2010 11:30 AM

I'll tell Lille the correction

Cre8tvlwyr 12-25-2010 06:08 PM

trying to think of a label... "across the miles from sea to sea, quilting friends we'll always be"... have a tile that says, "whenever this you see think of me"

bookworm 12-25-2010 06:18 PM

Umm... I kinda like the coastal one :)

Random thoughts....

"Quilters of the New Year"..... ok that one isn't great but that all I have at the moment

Lillie 12-28-2010 06:32 AM

Hope all had a wonderful Christmas. Now it's time for me to get thinking on my center. This is my first round Robin. I look forward to this.

Lillie.... this is a "Row" Robin - so you need to figure out what you're gonna do with "top row" or "side row" or "bottom row" - and indicate to the next person [me :-) ] where you want the next 'row' to go ...look at the first page of instructions on the original thread where bookworm gives you dimensions - I think it was 12 1/2" by 60 1/2"

bookworm 12-28-2010 01:17 PM

That's the correct dimensions. :)

Cre8tvlwyr 12-28-2010 07:25 PM

the rest of our group must be celebrat'n Christmas still... or maybe I'm a more devoted procrastinator! ... actually just checked our group list and the two we haven't heard from are the real young ones!! I've been checkn out bios. that brings me to a question and bookworm has no bio like me  if you are supposed to leave off personal info --why do people post the bios? are they open to public?? not that there's names or addresses and I was actually going to add mine. Should sew some winter dear Jane's.... right bookworm??

I'm too lazy to fill out my bio :P..... I've talked to Darkcloud and she's having internet problems. Not sure of the other but I blame the holidays :)

darkcloud 12-29-2010 03:46 PM

I'm here! My router hates me, and my laptop hates public connections. But I'm here. Yay! As for names...well, the only ones I can think of have nothing to do with quilting at the moment, but that is due to the insane amount of tv show marathons I've been subjecting myself to while I finished up my christmas-present-making.

Hope everyone had a great christmas and has an awesome new year!

Thanks Short and Sweet :) I was debating if I should keep going with it and I think I shall.... :)

Jennifer22206 01-01-2011 10:21 AM

I'm here! :) Sorry about that, have family here driving me insane. :) They're leaving on the 9th of Jan so I'll be around a lot more after that.

Plus, both of my machines are in for servicing, so I can't finish the blocks that I've started. :( I'm so upset over that.

I just posted a bio because I like to do the secret pal swaps, and I like people to get to know me a bit better.

I do love the Coastal Quilters as a name, especially since I'm pretty darned close to the NJ shore.

bookworm 01-01-2011 04:18 PM

Wow... aren't we a lively bunch :)

Jennifer22206 01-01-2011 08:09 PM

Both of my machines are in for servicing right now, but I should be getting them back in 2 or 3 weeks. Until then, I might have to hand piece. I do have 3 of my 5 blocks done, and they're all nautical stars and the other two I'm planning on doing a Mariners Compass.

Is anyone planning on sending along sashing strips with their rows?

Cre8tvlwyr 01-02-2011 01:48 PM

Jennifer22206...wow!! checked out your bio and the websites - you sew as much as I used to and am starting to do again :) Have you started I spy quilt yet or still collecting fabrics??I have two grandsons, 4 1/2 and 2+ and one arriving in April. I'll look and see what I've got to pass along - just let me know if you want it before I pass my row to you.

bookworm 01-02-2011 02:06 PM

From what other groups have been doing.... would you guys like to do signature blocks?

darkcloud 01-02-2011 04:34 PM

I like the color combination, but it is a hard act to follow :)

Also, I like the idea of a signature block, but I would do it separate, to be attached to the back of the quilt so it doesn't take away one of the front blocks.

I would... I was thinking of making smaller blocks to pass around with my row [s] - one for each person to write their name for my quilt and an additional one for each person to keep so you all have record of working on my quilt as well. I would incorporate each block into the back of my quilt ~ or use them as cornerstones for the front.

If we all did this, we could incorporate a block/remembrance of each person's quilt we worked on 8-)

Since my theme is birds, butterflies, flowers - thought if I fused one of these or used fabric from my row in each block and marked with ~

Coastal Quilters 2011
birds ~ butterflies ~ flowers
Row whichever row One ~ screen name
if quilter would like to add real name & city

hope this is understandible

Nope, I'm still collecting fabrics for it. What size are you looking for because I'm positive I've got a ton of fabrics that I can send to you!

I'm planning on doing one huge one for a label, but I'm still debating on how I want the label to look.. but signature blocks also sound really fun!

I've been hanging out at quilterscache.com and she has a few signature/autograph block ideas that look easy enough to make a few to send around.

Jennifer22206 01-02-2011 07:18 PM

I make the D13 blocks from Dear Jane, it's a square set on point for another ongoing swap that I participate in. I'm up for making extra signature blocks for everyone - sounds like a lot of fun for me.

Jennifer22206 01-05-2011 07:33 PM

I just got a new sewing machine since my good Singer is in the shop waiting to be fixed. :) I can start piecing my blocks again!! YAY!! Be on the lookout next week for my finished row!

I'm wacky... when I wrote.. "I was thinking of making smaller blocks to pass around with my row [s] - one for each person to write their name for my quilt ...blah, blah, blah.....
 guess that was my "explanation" of signature blocks  ...so....yes, I like that idea too

Cre8tvlwyr 01-13-2011 07:59 PM

we really are not a very chatty group are we   :-( 8-) :?: waiting for those   to come racing in!!
