It was great to get away from everything - no phones, tv,barking dogs to let out/in, etc. It's also great to be waited on so much. I went with a bunch of girl friends. DH would never enjoy something like that -- he's too active, and I was perfectly content to sit in sun and read.

Sounds like you had a great time! Welcome back:)

Ok Ladies,

I am ready to mail....I have my row, my label, extra block and journal. I will mail extra brown fabric for the sashings (uncut), that way you can cut to your measurement to make your row fit to my row. The extra to be mailed back with the finished quilt.

So, I would like for my row to be in the middle (that is why I signed on line 3. If you would be so kind as to sign your name on the line of your row...

If anyone would like for me to send extra cash for the cost of shipping, I will gladly do that...just let me know.

Looking for to receiving TF Quilters row.

Thanks so much for the pictures of your row, label, etc. It gives me a better idea of what to do for my label. Somehow seeing a picture is better than all the words.

Wish I was an experiences machine embroiderer.............

So pretty!

Gees, I put this same info in the middle of your info...sorry Pam..

Qbee 01-31-2011 11:10 AM

Pam.....I LOVE your EVERYTHING!! It all looks SOO beautiful!
I think we may have some confusion about the extra block though. The extra blocks are for like a "personality" block or something. So you add an extra block for EACH row that you send forward. For example, when I get Sue's row, here is everything I will do:
1. I will make a row and attach it along with any sashing if needed.
2. I will take a picture of me working on her row or something and add it along with notes to the journal that she sends with her row.
3. I will sign her label "Gail D 'Qbee'" on the appropriate spot depending on where my row is positioned.
4. I will make an EXTRA block using some of the fabrics I used to make her row adding my "touch" to it. Like I might put a big Bumble bee for "Qbee" or sign it or whatever.
5. I will then send all of it forward to the next person who will do the same.
So is that about as clear as mud...LOL! So you make an extra block for everyone. I think most of us are going to use them as a row on the back of our quilts. Now....since Pam has already done one extra block using the fabric from her own row....we could just go with that instead of using fabric from the row we are making?? I kinda like it now that I see it. It is totally up to ya'll.
Again Pam, BEAUTIFUL work!!!

TFquilter 01-31-2011 01:37 PM

Gail, thanks for the info..I did the same thing as Pam...I made an extra block for myself, but I still want everyone else, who works on my row, to make an extra block. Then I will have 5 blocks as a memory row, including my own block. I hope this is okay. I have all my stuff ready to be sent tomorrow to Pam.. my row, journal, pictures, extra block, sashing for between the rows and label for signatures. I guess that's about it. Looking forward to receiving your row! :)

Qbee 01-31-2011 01:46 PM

OH.....I see!! Yeah...i get it...i thought that was her extra block to send or something....duh...ignore me...i'm the one who is confused...LOL :D

Nancy in Louisiana 01-31-2011 04:58 PM

OK folks, it's only Feb 1 (in a few hours) ... and I have two out of 5 blocks done and now y'all a stressin' me out!!! I know what I'll me doing tomorrow morning.

Beautiful work with the embroidery. I'm still learning and burning up the stabilizer in the process. If time and ability would only keep up with my ideas ...

Good work, all. Stash Queen -- you there? Almost ready? Anybody have questions? Am I the one behind the most?

It might be helpful to each of us if we could post pix of signature block and maybe the journal so we know what to expect or do.

Also, how bout we send the "extra" blocks directly to the quilt owner when we forward on the rest of the quilt so that we aren't paying more postage than we have to. That way the quilt owner can have something to fondle while waiting for the finished product. And photos of that also required because we are all curious (nosey). OK???

Qbee 01-31-2011 05:16 PM

Hey Nancy...don't worry...I'm behind too the rest of them too! I am working SOOO slow 'cause I'm REALLY stretching myself with this row. I will be attempting regular piecing, paper piecing and applique! I'm so excited :D
I like you idea about the extra blocks and it is true that they would cost more if we send them with the rows. However ya'll want to do it all is great with me :D

pamesue 01-31-2011 06:58 PM

Ok, ....I think that is what I am doing.....the extra block I have pictured is for my backing, and I will make a block for the back of all the rows I get with the fabric that I use to make your row and I will add my special touch to the extra block

I am willing to keep my extra block at home and then mail the extra blocks directly to the owner of the row I a working on.

The journal....are you saying we should send that with the quilt or separate??? we could send the journal pages to each person and then when they work on our row they complete the journal then mail back to us...

Michigan is due to get 10-15 inches of snow in the next 1-2 days....

If everyone is not ready for the mailing I can hold on to mine...just let me know.

Nancy in Louisiana 01-31-2011 07:25 PM

Guess we need to think a bit more about the whole journal thing. Do we actually send a physical journal, or maybe each write on our own and send pages back to the quilt owner (maybe along with the "extra" bonus block we are doing). We could agree on a standard size (maybe just regular 8 1/2 by 11" copy/printer paper) and then it can be put into a standard folder or notebook. Again, that would cut down on the weight of the quilt as it grows with each stop.

Opinions? Comments? Better ideas or suggestions?

Qbee 01-31-2011 07:41 PM

Again, I am not picky AT All. I got one of those really small spiral notebooks at the Dollar Store because they are small and they also don't have as many pages (that's why they are so much cheaper)....it's probably like 4 X 6 at the biggest. Ya'll just let me know what you want to do. I got a PM from Stash Queen and she will be all ready to send her row to me on the 15th :D

Qbee 01-31-2011 07:43 PM

I wanted to ask you Pam...what embroidery machine do you have? That is just SO cool!

FQ Stash Queen 01-31-2011 07:48 PM

I'm not ready, but hoping to be by the 15th. For quilting, snowed in good. (Be back in Detroit area this weekend). UGH!! I have ordered a quilting journal from Connecting Threads. They are on sale for half price in the clearance section, and would like to use it. Will mark the page to start on, as I have projects that should go ahead of it in order. Anyone else who might like a real quilt journal might want to check that. I know I'd like to use mine for more than just this quilt. ....and Gail, I kept your address in a safe place this time.

I concur, lovely siggy block. Am looking into doing a similar one but with kitchen utensils on it. Are we supposed to send the extra block on or keep it for ourselves? I really don't want an extra block (hope I don't hurt anyone's feelings), but I want my quilt to look like a kitchen quilt, not a hodge podge on the back.

I don't think extra postage is necessary as by the third round we'll probably be at $11.95 anyway. I don't have a problem as long as you don't send cinder blocks and bricks.

Blessings, Cherie

TFquilter 01-31-2011 07:51 PM

Okay, I will keep my extra block...then we make the extra block for each person's row we work on and send that block directly to that person and forward the row...got that...I'm not sure about the journal...I have bought my journal already, wrote in it etc, however, and would like everyone else to comment in it as they work on my row if possible. In my opinion, it would be better just to forward the journal with the row so each person can write in it..it's fun to see what everyone has written, and that sort of thing..if someone chooses not to have a journal, then paper or whatever works for them.. and I thought we decided on a picture of each row as we work on it also...

Qbee 01-31-2011 08:35 PM

That is what I was doing as well. Small journal with sent with my row, etc. and then I was gonna have daughter take pics of me working on row and put in everyone's journals etc. so by the end there will be a documented "story" of the rows being made...LOL :D

Love it Elaine ..... Both your "Label" and "Extra Block"! I've only got "two" more rows coming (one should be here today, I believe) ..... then I will have "my" RR back in my hands. This whole experience has been a "blast" .... and the "icing on the cake" is, I have come to know 4 great people in the Early Bird Threads, which includes "Jacquie" in Scotland.

"Yeah" and I suppose you want me to come over an see it in "full bloom", so you could rub my nose in it!!! ""LOL""
Got the stuff you told me about, fed mine .... no sign of flowers yet, but probably a little too soon. "Want to trade plants"?

TFquilter 02-01-2011 10:56 AM

I will send you a PM...:)

Nancy in Louisiana 02-01-2011 12:11 PM

OK - so journals go with rows, no extra blocks to Stash Queen.

TF - could you post pic of your first row so I can get a better feel for what you want done?

Qbee 02-01-2011 12:52 PM

Nancy, TF's row is posted on page 3...you'll remember it when you see it....remember it is that AMAZING row with the women in bonnets....maybe you were on your cruise actually..hmm. OMGosh...you will DIE when you see it!! It is SO pretty....go look....it's on page 3!!

As far as the extra blocks...they go with the row you make for the rest of us. Like when you make my row...you will make me an extra block using the fabric that you used to make my row but making it "yours" like with your name or like TF did with the little lady or whatever. I'm using the extra blocks that I get to make a row for the back. I think that is what everyone is doing except Stash Queen; she said that we don't really have to do an extra block for her because she isn't doing a row on the back like that.
I'M SOOOO EXCITED!!!!!! He-he-he

TFquilter 02-01-2011 02:11 PM

I messed up Nancy...first I looked for my orig posting, couldn't find it...figured pics must drop off after awhile...reposted them, then Q Bee said they were on P. 3 and yes, they are on Page 3..I must have had a blind moment...sorry anyway, Page 3...

Qbee 02-01-2011 02:13 PM

I wouldn't delete this post!! this way she doesn't have to go looking back to page 3! I was only telling her in case she came on before you saw her post. I will be sending my row to you probably early next week. I need help from a lady at the LQS on something and will be having a class from her on Friday so I'm hoping she can help me then. I'm stretching myself big time on this row but hopefully it will work! :D I will let you know when I send it out though.....I'm SOoOOO excited!!!

I have a Viking Designer 1 that I do my embroidery on and a Viking Rose that I do my sewing on. I love both of these machines. I keep thinking I would like to upgrade, but the cost is unbelieveable. Anyway, thanks for all the nice comments on the blocks...I really like them.

I am looking forward to working on each of your rows.

We are snowed in here in the Rockwood area of Michigan, they actually closed the entire clinic building where I work Detroit for employee and patient safety. Of course the hospital can't close but the clinics did. I did not have to try to fight the snow today..yeah!

I will put my package into the mail either tomorrow or Friday to Nancy...I will pm you went it is actually in the mail.
