OK Folks.....WELCOME TO GROUP #11!!!!
I think before we do anything we should come up with a name.....so ya'll give your ideas when you check in.
Also, go ahead and start giving your themes, etc.
I'm really excited and can't wait to work on each of your tops :)

Ooops....I forgot to give my theme. My husband and I just got a travel trailer that we are LOVING. We take it to the lake to camp as often as we possibly can and desperately need a quilt for our queen bed in the trailer :)
The colors in the trailer are browns, creams, bronze and black. Here is a picture of the colors.

wanda lou 09-17-2012 09:21 PM

Hello group 11 I cant wait to get started.

Qbee we have an rv and enjoy camping.

my theme is a book case quilt.

wanda lou 09-18-2012 02:23 PM

Ok lets come up with a name or forever be known as group #11.
come on guys name ideas.

I like thread bangers, pin pushers, or block builders.... what do you all think?

Qbee 09-18-2012 05:39 PM

I like block builders alot!!!

MdmSew'n'Sew 09-18-2012 05:47 PM

Hooray, I was in a swap with Quiltermomma and WandaLou, if you don't know them already, trust me, they are both VERY talented ladies!

I am excited, haven't settled on my theme yet, I'm thinking about my row consisting of blocks representing places I've lived (my father and ex were both in the Navy, so I've traveled --- a LOT!) Then have everyone add blocks representing where they have lived or visited or dreamed of going to see - so when it's done, it'll represent a lot of different places ... and sending a journal along with the blocks so that everyone can tell me the names of the blocks they chose and what they represent. I think it would be like a flying carpet of sorts. And since I want to sash it when I get all the rows back, I'd ask everyone to baste their blocks together and also baste to the previous row, so nothing gets lost but I can easily finish it without overworking Jack the Ripper - I think my sashing will be based on what everyone does, I'm not ready to commit to a color yet, I want everyone to let their imagination fly on this one.

As for our group's name, what about a riff on Ocean's Eleven? I'll have to think on that tonight and come back tomorrow.

Qbee 09-19-2012 02:18 PM

Would anyone in this group be willing to switch into another group? It's a long story but I need to make one switch.

QuilterMomma 09-19-2012 02:20 PM

If you need me to I can, Thank you very much for the compliment Mdmsewnsew.
Whatever you need, I can do dear.

Scrapper 09-19-2012 07:19 PM

Howdy Groupies! LOL until we have a new official name. This is my first triple R and I can't wait for the fun to begin. I love the ideas of camping (we hv an RV we just love) and places visited (like a postcard theme)- those should be fun!

For me, I like the idea of adding the sashing when it comes home - so I guess the strips wouldn't have to be attached to each other just pinned together so they don't get lost in the shuffle.

Drum roll........here's me theme: Home Sweet Home. My section would be the one with the words Home Sweet Home. Each subsequent section would reflect a season: spring summer autumn winter. The only quirk would be that the last person would have to do whatever season is left - no choice unless they coordinate w the others and they arrange amongst themselves if they prefer a specific season. Wow that was a long-winded explanation LOL

I can't advise a color theme yet as I am still in the design mode but would include a note w it when it starts it's journey. Since this is my first time as a GROUPIE LOL, guess I'll be posting questions etc as they pop into my head.
Please bear with me

QuilterMomma 09-20-2012 07:28 AM

Wandalou how about Row Ragers (LOL)

I can go out there once in awhile.

I am thinking for this row robin to do a crazy quilt theme. There would be no need for sashing and each row can build upon the next. This will bust some of your ladies stash of scraps, and help you use all those wonderful stitches your machines have or do some fun handwork with buttons, ribbons, beads, or whatever you have in your stash. I would like to use just muslin foundation. Nothing fancy or that real ugly fabric you do not want to keep around that you would not mind covering up. The fun part is that it should not cost you anything except using up stash.

I do say, adding a note to what you have for your theme and what you are doing is a great idea and this way we all could add in as we go so we get some well versed row robins. I will be adding in my note.

wanda lou 09-20-2012 12:18 PM

Quilter momma I love making crazy quilts, my all time favorite. would it be a quilt as you go, and can we embellish.
what a great idea. i can't wait to work on it.

QuilterMomma 09-20-2012 12:41 PM

You may embelish all you want. I do not know how to do quilt as you go so I will put under the machine and quilt it. But by all means, embellish away when you get it.

Qbee 09-20-2012 01:57 PM

I'm good with whatever name ya'll pick :D

QuilterMomma 09-20-2012 02:10 PM

Or, Quilting Groupies

Qbee 09-20-2012 03:30 PM

How bout Heavenly Eleven Quilters :)

Qbee 09-20-2012 06:09 PM

OK....I stole this from one of the other leaders but it was SO well done....LOL :D

Mailing dates are:
1st Row – mail by Dec. 1st
Row 2 – Feb. 1st
Row 3 – April 1st
Row 4 – June. 1st
Row 5 – Aug. 1st

A few things to think about:

Correspondence - include with your starter row. This could be a piece paper, note card or anything you choose. Consider this your opportunity to express your preferences, such as colors, techniqes, and what not to do/use. Perhaps you prefer to join your rows when they come home to you - you would state that in your correspondence.

Labels - Send along a label with your starter row for each person to sign. This can be as simple or fancy as you want.

Sashings - Does anyone in the group have objections if any of the swappers wants to send along sashing to be used to join the rows together? It may affect the cost of shipping.

Mailing the rows - What is the preference of the group - do we mail according to the dates, or do we want to mail the rows as soon as they are finished?

What are we forgetting to address?
Suggestions?
Comments?

Let's get this party started :D :D :D :D

QuilterMomma 09-21-2012 08:25 AM

Oh you thief you, ah, labels is a good idea. On our church round robin we did that was a priorty and I just love having it and knowing who did what. Will add that one to my group.

Qbee 09-21-2012 06:45 PM

So far our tenative themes are as follows:

Qbee - Sampler quilt with browns, creams, bronze and black for the travel trailer
Wanda Lou - Bookcase Quilt
MdmSew'n'Sew - Places you've lived
Scrapper - Home Sweet Home
QuilterMomma - Crazy Quilt

They all sound great....some may change but for now that's where we stand....fun...fun...fun :D

QuilterMomma 09-24-2012 03:26 PM

Next month will start and get it ready by end of October. Hopefully keep up with you ladies.

Scrapper 09-25-2012 08:10 PM

Keep up???? I need to stop dreaming and scheming about it  and get moving on the REAL THING......LOL

QuilterMomma 09-26-2012 07:20 AM

Oh but to dream the quilt into full color, wow what a vision.

ScrapQuilter 09-26-2012 06:14 PM

Hi - I would think about joining but need someone to tell me exactly how it works. As this would be my first swap of this kind.

Qbee 09-27-2012 02:22 PM

Actually the swap has already closed for new folks and groups have been assigned. Keep watching though....you never know when another one might start :)

Qbee 10-03-2012 03:30 PM

So....how is everyone doing with their rows? :D

QuilterMomma 10-03-2012 03:34 PM

Haven't started yet. Have put it on the back burner and will do this month, but not till after the quilt show. I am a presenter so working on a presentation for that and then I need to get my UFOs done so I have four of them in the process right now. I have the background blocks all ready, just deciding on what fabrics from the scraps I want to use. thinking I want this one more of a floral and fauna so need to dig them out of the scraps. I am excited because I get to use up some of those trims I have been hoarding for years and years. Then when it comes back, I will see what else I can add. May even do the crazy patch in the border to frame the row robin.

Qbee 10-05-2012 05:36 PM

I have my fabrics picked but haven't even decided on what blocks to do yet...LOL :D
I have SO MANY projects going at the same time it's not even funny!!
I've got to make some ornaments for the ornament swap and get my Secret Santa taken care of.
I have a couple of quilts that need binding, a couple of Christmas quilts, baby quilts...woooo! I'm tired!
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

wanda lou 10-06-2012 02:36 PM

I have made 2 blocks so far.
still making boom blocks and working on secret santa box too.

wanda lou 10-06-2012 02:38 PM

have we decided on a name yet? It don't matter to me.

Scrapper 10-10-2012 11:07 AM

LOL our name appears to be NO NAME LOL..........

I've completed my design and will start working on it this weekend........I hope it turns out as purdy as I picture it to be.....heehee........otherwise my Home Sweet Home will become OH SHACK OF MINE.......HEEHEE

QuilterMomma 10-10-2012 11:28 AM

A shack will do, as long as it is a roof over your head. :D:D:D

MdmSew'n'Sew 10-10-2012 04:53 PM

I am not sure where the list with names/addresses etc. is for our group, did Qbee send it out to everyone and I missed the message? Or is it somewhere on the site and I don't know where? I've picked the blocks I will do, but won't be able to start sewing for at least a couple of weeks, will definitely have them done and ready to mail in time ... just don't know where I will be sending them to.

Qbee 10-10-2012 05:58 PM

You will only need one address...the one you send to which I think is Scrapper.

Qbee 10-21-2012 06:37 PM

Well I guess it's time to get addresses. We will mail in the order of the group names so just to make sure everyone has the correct address, please PM the person you will be mailing to in order to get the address they want the rows mailed to. For example, I will need to get wanda lou's address and wanda lou needs to get mdmsew n sew's address and mdmsew n sew needs to get scrapper's address and so on and so on. Remember you send to the same person EVERY time.

Let me know if you have any questions. Here is the order again just in case you need it:

Group 11
Leader - Qbee
wanda lou
MdmSew'n'Sew
Scrapper
Quiltermomma

Thanks so much
QBEE

QuilterMomma 11-05-2012 03:57 PM

It sure is quiet over here. I have not started yet, but will get busy on it in next couple weeks, I will meet the mailing deadline for sure.

wanda lou 11-05-2012 09:14 PM

I know what you mean I have only three blocks done.

QuilterMomma 11-06-2012 09:05 AM

Doing the crazy patch block is time consuming but so worth the effort. Nice thing is when it is done, will need minimal quilting. LOL

thinking of that end step.

QuilterMomma 11-15-2012 10:58 AM

So ms. Qbee, how are you doing on yours? Is everyone ready to mail yet? Getting ready for the holiday? Hello............?

wanda lou 11-16-2012 01:01 AM

I'm almost ready to mail and how about you.

QuilterMomma 11-16-2012 09:43 AM

Hi Wanda, Ms. Qbee's mail is full and I need her address. I am glad for you, but I am still in the starting phase of mine.
