Ok how is everyone coming along, we have about 5 more weeks or so , December 1 will be here soon, and then we need to have them mailed. Mine is going to be a rather simple row. Going on vacation this upcoming week, and will look around for something else to add to it. I want to complete it soon. So many choices. Really looking forward, has anyone changed there themes, please let me know ,cause I am sorting through fabrics according to your themes!

Sauki1 10-11-2012 04:16 AM

Nope, I'm still a scrappy triple irish chain. I will be forwarding the grey fabric for the background to each person so they will be able to keep the same color throughout the quilt. We were looking at maybe moving our date up to November 1st if possible. I think most of us have completed our rows and it might be fun to work on another row.

Let us know if you are able to findyour next piece. I don't know about everyone else but I'm excited to see everyone's rows! :)

That's way more organized than I am. I won't even try to sort through my fabrics until I have the row in my hand. I'm good at selecting colors, but not that good, And, Sauki, yes, I am ready to ship in November - how 'bout everyone else? Cuppy, did you see the date change? and, no, I haven't changed my theme - Scrappy cats.

Vanogay 10-24-2012 12:14 PM

What's happening everyone?????? Our thread here is way too quiet. Is the November 1st mail date still good?????????

Sauki1 10-24-2012 07:11 PM

It's good for me. I think everyone is busily working on their rows. Mine is finished and I will be mailing mine on Nov. 1st. Everyone else?

Sauki1 10-29-2012 06:53 PM

Hey everyone, how are the rows coming? I believe everyone agreed to send by Nov. 1st. I'm ready and I can't wait to see everyone's versions of the rows. Please chime in and let everyone know when you'll be mailing. Also, if you don't remember who you're mailing to, let me know. If you don't have the address any longer, please let me know.

Thanks for ensuring we all get our quilts moving and being worked on and we are all having fun doing it. :)

girlscouts1 10-29-2012 07:39 PM

we have a lot of storms here, and dont think I will get to the post office to get my stuff mailed out by the 1st.... power outages, and the canal is probably going to flood, so that leaves me stranded....

Sauki1 10-30-2012 03:44 AM

Girlscouts1, it's understandable that you may need a few extra days due to the big storm. No worries. Just wanted to touch base with everyone and see if we were all still on track. Mail as soon as you are able to do so. Thanks for checking in. :)

Vanogay 10-30-2012 03:53 AM

Recommendation that if you are not mailing on the 1st of November (storms, not finished, whatever), contact 1) Sauki1 and 2) the person to whom you are mailing. That way, our illustrious leader knows what's happenin' as does your recipient.
I am getting my box ready to go today and it will be in the mail later this week. I mail to you Sauki1, so will be sending a PM when it's on it's way to you - or we could just plan to meet for lunch 1/2 way and I'll give it to you. Except, I really don't know where Hinesville is. My sister is in Covington and we've met for lunch in Chattanooga.

cuppy 10-30-2012 06:15 AM

I see the date has been moved up, well maybe I can get row mailed by the end of first week, in November. I have had company, and been on vacation. I had a few other deadlines prior to this one. I will be able to mail around 10th Nov. I thought we had deadliny as Dec.1.

cuppy

Sauki1 10-30-2012 09:19 AM

We do Cuppy. We had all discussed about a month ago, that the deadline out at Dec. 1st was quite far off and most had completed their rows and were eager to send. I think Vanogay is right. Please let me know when you are mailing so that I can notify your partner. Also, it would be a good idea to PM your partner to let them know as well.

1/2 way for me would be a several hour drive. I'm near Savannah on the SE corner of GA. I'm not sure where Covington is as I'm a fairly new transplant here. :) Thank you for the offer though :)

Covington is about 40 miles east of Atlanta. And, half way to my sister was a 3 hour drive for us. We started out trying to meet for lunch about every 6 weeks after years of living way far apart. That didn't really work as their drive through Atlanta was way more stressful than our 3 hours on the freeway. Will mail and - as I said, PM you when it's on it's way.

cuppy 11-01-2012 11:32 PM

All OK, I should have row completed this weekend, will we always be one month ahead for mail date, just want to put on my calendar. I will pm my partner.

cuppy

Vanogay 11-02-2012 05:22 AM

Got your PM Cuppy. Don't know about always one month early - Sauki1??? But, joy, oh, joy - my row is in an envelope to mail today. Has label, check, has journal, check, has sashings, check. One word by way of apology - my 'journal' is really a mess. Remember I broke my arm (my dominant arm - my writing arm, my eating arm) and everything I do now is with my other arm - my right. Even type with just one hand. I guess the nuns in school were preparing me for this day, because I can sorta write with my right hand, but it's not great - you'll see when you get the journal. PLEASE Excuse the writing and if you can't read it - PM and I'll try to interpret!!!! Sauki1, I'll PM after the package is actually posted but planning to hit the PO after my PT this morning.

I don't think we agreed to send each time a month early it was just this first time. I think al of us would appreciate the 2 month time period to complete each row. This first time we all were just excited to get started.

Vanogay - working in a SNF for about 15 yrs, you get used to different types of handwriting. So, don't worry about it I'm sure I can get through it :). Thanks for the heads up about sending your package. I should be able to get mine out this weekend as well. Will PM my partner. :)

drgranny 11-02-2012 11:04 AM

.
Cuppy, are you sure the mailing envelopes will do? They should work for your first submission, but the second one you send will be two rows and the third will be three rows. Won't the work, with the journal be too much for that envelope? Just asking, in case. By the time we all get to row 3 or 4, I think we'll be working on a small box and of course by the time we get it returned, it'll be in a medium size box - or at least I would think so.[/QUOTE]

I"m not in your RR but you can get the large tyvec envelopes. They will hold a lot and shouldn't cost more than $12 to mail.

Vanogay 11-02-2012 01:17 PM

well Row 1 is on its way to Georgia. Now the excitement begins. Will be looking for the large tyvec envelopes to use for future mailings. Realized my 'journal' really wasn't a journal at all, but a list of 'what fors' on the quilt. DIdn't put anything about me or my family or what inspired me to do the scrappy cat. I may type something up and mail it to Sauki1 and have her include it in the little journal I sent with the quilt - how's that?
Well Cuppy, I'm waiting for yours to arrive and I'll get going on it. I have a dear friend who is helping me with my cutting and what have yous right now as I really can't use my left hand for much. She has been cutting or trimming or all that sort for me since I broke this arm and without her, I would have had to drop out. Most of the credit will have to go with her for all future rows.
Happy sewing all.

cuppy 11-04-2012 12:04 AM

I will be sending my row out next week, Vanogay, I do need your address please pm me. My partner just pm me and will send hers to me around the 12th of the month, I have a primitive angel pattern already picked out.

Sauki1 11-07-2012 06:42 PM

Just an update.... I will be on a cruise until 11/20, so I won't have any computer access until I return. I have received Vanogay's
row and I will be working on it when I return. It's beautiful already!

I have not heard from girlscouts1 or Lv2sew2011 in a little while. Ladies, if you could check in that would be great. I will need to mail soon and I just want to ensure we're all still on board. :)

Thanks! I will check back in once I have returned.

Row is on its way to Kathleen in TN. I have been waiting on a embroidery CD and it was on back order..mermaids.. and it has not arrived yet, it was promised to arrive by 20 of Nov. However we moved up the dates... so I am sending my row, however I still need to finish the embroidery. I guess I will have to finish when I receive it back. It is OK, nothing I can really do. Everyone have a wonderful Thanksgiving, I have so much to be thankful for... this group is one.

Just to post on the thread - I did receive cuppy's row. It is hanging on my design wall and I have been busy searching for just the right fabric. I feel like Goldilocks - too hot, too cold, just right - too orange, too pink - oh, just right!!!!:p

What happens, Cuppy (as our fearless leader) if Girlscouts1 bows out? Did she send a row? What do we do?

Everyone, as of the 2nd of this month, Girlsouts1 has not dropped out. She had been busy with the big storm, then on a short vacation and had said she was going to send her package out that week. She may have gotten busy with the holidays and been unable to mail. I'll ask her again after the holiday and see where she is in the mailing process at that time.

If I don't hear at that time, I'll refer the matter to Jaba for guidance. :)

Enjoy your holidays everyone and we can get back to our sewing in the days after :D

Sauki1 01-07-2013 04:42 AM

I sent mine to Girlscout1 on Friday, should be receiving soonish :). Just a reminder to all, if you send out rows, please either comment here or send a PM to me so I can ensure where tops are in the process.

Thanks all! Hope you're having fun with it. Our next deadline is fast approaching.

Vanogay 01-07-2013 07:11 AM

Reference the above postings (Sauki1 and Lv2Sew2011) were these first row or second. I'm ready to ship Row #2, but was holding on - now I'm confused.
