I realized yesterday that I forgot to ask for the address to send my rows. I will be PMing and getting it out on Monday by Priority mail. Sorry. Once I have the address... all will go smoothly... I hope.

Whigrose 12-04-2012 02:13 PM

Hi ladies,
It occurred to me that it is equally important to notify senders (and me) when you receive rows as when you ship them.

I am waiting to hear on my two rows I shipped. They should have reached their destinations on Monday.

d

Whigrose 12-05-2012 01:26 PM

Charlottemarie,
I received your row today. Am I understanding you are asking us all to make the same SBS pattern?

best,
d

Whigrose 12-05-2012 01:45 PM

Just curious, how many of you other ladies are sending along a 'blue print' with your rows?

I belonged to other RxRs in the past and they didn't work the way this one is going. Those RxRs worked very differently - each subsequent person added their own design and creativity-including the layout.

That said, I am happy to do whatever the owner wishes. :-)

charlottemarie 12-06-2012 05:55 PM

I just included the pattern on mine in case someone wanted to use it. You all do not have to use it. It is just there.
I don't think I included a label to be signed either. I don't need to have a label with me.

Whigrose 12-07-2012 08:22 AM

Ladies,
Wait until you see Charlottemarie's SBS- they are so cute.

I'm looking forward to starting my addition to these lil gals.

best,
d

Krisb 12-08-2012 11:21 AM

I did send some description of my theme idea, and a little notebook for people to write the names of the blocks or why they included them, or any other thing they want to write, and a request not to join rows. Other than that, people are free to do whatever strikes their fancy.

MistyMarie 12-10-2012 07:26 PM

Ironically, I not only received the rows in the mail... I also got mine back. I guess the marker I used on the label smeared and they could not send it on. However, I used an address label and so it was returned. It is going out in the mail TOMORROW... once again... Priority!

Whigrose 12-19-2012 10:30 AM

MistyMarie,
Are you okay?

Your row hasn't been received yet by Mhobbs. We are all concerned for you.

Please check in and let us know your status. I have sent you several e-mails and not heard back from you. Today I called you today and left a message.

We may need to put a Plan B into action. I have been in contact with Qbee for her sage wisdom. Let's hope this all works out - soon.

best,
d

Whigrose 12-20-2012 07:49 AM

Hello ladies of Group 6,
Qbee has recommended we move forward as a group of four.

You may have noticed on the Group 6's page there have been shout-outs to MistyMarie along with several pms from myself and Mhobbs with no response. In her last post (12/02) she indicated she was resending her row the following day - it had been returned to her because of an issue with the label. As of yesterday Mhobbs hasn't received the row.

We all truly hoping everything is alright in MistyMarie's life and it has been nothing serious that has kept her from this board and group as a whole. With that said, Qbee and I recommend we move forward.

Krisb, you could try contacting MistyMarie about your row but in the meantime the suggestion is you make another and send it on to Mhobbs. She is anxious to get to work :-) You may pm either Mhobbs or myself for her mailing address. If that doesn't work for you please let us know as soon as possible so another plan can be laid out. Let's just call this a small glitch and continue on :-)

The new order is:
Whigrose to Krisb
Krisb to Mhobbs
Mhobbs to Charlottemarie
Charlottemarie to Whigrose

Our quilt will be significantly smaller than the original project intended. How does everyone feel about that? Should we double up one month, let it go, or we each take care of it when the rows come home? Ideas? Thoughts?

If any of you have concerns or comments, please feel free to share them. You may also pm me if you would rather not post to the group.

Let us all hope MistyMarie is safe and healthy.

best,
d

Whoot, whoot! Starting Charlottemarie's row today. Looking forward to relaxing, enjoying the feel of fabric and hearing the hum of the machine.

Yea me.

best,
d

Krisb 01-03-2013 08:42 PM

Finished row 1a today and it will be off to Marie tomorrow. Oddly, my row is going to Raleigh and my swap block this month is going to Cary--and both would have a much shorter journey if we were back in NC.

Tomorrow, starting on Deb's row. And hooray for me, the flooring in the condo is done.

Whigrose 01-05-2013 10:49 AM

I have Charlottemarie's SBS all fused and ready to applique.

Krisb, when I get these sewn down, may I send them on to you or do you prefer I hang on to them until the due date of 2/1? No extra pressure for you to do them, just moving them down the line.

best,
d

Krisb 01-05-2013 08:49 PM

Deb,

Go ahead and send them early if you want to them to move on down the road. I am ready for them any time. Anything to keep from doing more pp units for my dizzy geese quilt.

Kris

Whigrose 01-06-2013 07:24 AM

Hi Kris,
I send them in tomorrow's mail (Monday). Please let me know when you receive them.

PP? as in paper pieceing? I love paper pieceing. It's slow and uses fabric, but I love doing. Just finished a New York Beauty top. Waiting to get the quilting done on it.

Mailed out charlottemarie's 'blocks" today to Krisb.

best,
d

Krisb 01-07-2013 07:52 PM

Yep--paper piecing. When I read the pattern and it said "sew with a very scant 1/4" seam allowance" on only some of the units and then easing those units into the centers, paper piecing seemed like much less annoyance. And I have tons of scraps, so I am just using any shape and trimming later. Somehow it seems OK to trim off and throw away a piece of fabric when just tossing it would have seemed wasteful LOL.

Whigrose 01-12-2013 09:11 AM

Hey ladies,
How is everyone doing? Are you on schedule with your row?

Remember, the next mailing date is February 1.

Please check in occasionally and give a progress update - photos highly appreciated, too.

best,
d

charlottemarie 01-13-2013 05:44 PM

I'm working on my rows now, not finished though.

QuilterMomma 01-25-2013 08:57 AM

Not many peaks, how is one to get any ideas here. But of course, if it is to be a secret..... nah.

Whigrose 01-28-2013 05:19 AM

Just a reminder ladies that the due date for mailing the rows onto the next person is February 1. If you need to adjust that date for any reason please let the person you are to mail your rows onto know when they can expect to receive them - and remember to also let me know.

Anyone up to posting progress photos?

Best,
d

charlottemarie 02-04-2013 04:42 PM

Maria and Whigrose, I received Kris' blocks today. They are beautiful! I have been down for a couple of days, an antibiotic backfired and affected my tendons in my legs, I almost literally cannot walk it is so painful. Anyway that is why the late maildate on Group 3. All for this group is done and went out on the 1st of Feb.

Whigrose 02-04-2013 05:24 PM

Charlottemarie,
Thanks so much for letting us know about the rows.

Take care of yourself first and foremost.

Hi all,
just popping in to say that I received Mhobbs rows today from Charlottemarie and they look like they will be a blast to work on.

Anyone else have an update? Photos?

best,
deb

QuilterMomma 02-21-2013 03:15 PM

Oh yes, photos would be nice to see. Love watching them grow and steeling the ideas from you. LOL

Whigrose 02-25-2013 02:15 PM

Hey ladies,
How we doing? Anyone want to check in with the group? Krisb, Mhobbs, or Charlottemarie? Everyone busy sewing. Shoveling? ;-)

best,
d

charlottemarie 02-27-2013 04:57 PM

I'm not shoveling, but I am sewing. Working on quilts.

Whigrose 03-02-2013 04:37 PM

Can I just complain for a just minute here?

So, I find the PP pattern I want to use, pull the fabrics, cut them and stack them into piles for each of the five blocks.

Commence sewing - This is going great! Or so I thought. When I place the block segments into a block formation, things aren't lining up. What? Huh? Ugh.

Human- check everything again - your copy of the pattern, follow the pattern - opps, turns out I wasn't doing section 6 right. Start next two segments. Still, not fitting together the way it should. Now I could almost understand this if I was a junior paper-piecer, but I have done more than a few quilts with the pp method.

I have decided not to become frustrated and waste my time. I'm ditching the whole thing and moving on to Plan B.

Grumble~

Krisb 03-04-2013 08:22 AM

Just letting you know that I am still here and actually slightly ahead of schedule on Row 3. Want it out before we go home on March 27. These SB Sue blocks are fun and am trying out a new applique method.

charlottemarie 03-05-2013 05:50 PM

Whigrose I am glad not to be the only one with trouble with paper piecing! Hang in there! Krisb I am getting so excited about my Sunbonnet Sues!

QuilterMomma 03-08-2013 09:34 AM

Ooooo, any sneak peaks?

Whigrose 03-12-2013 08:14 AM

I've just finished MHobbs row and am ready to ship anytime. Krisb has asked me to hold off until she gets settled back home around the first of April. (Personally, I wouldn't mind if we all finished early. May and June tend to be very busy months for folks.

How do you folks feel about finishing early? Would your schedule allow for it? No pressure, just asking in the event others might be thinking the same thing. I only have Krisb's row to work on then I'm done with this Group's commitment. The other group I belong is also ahead of schedule.

I spoke with MHobbs the other day and she is on track.

Maria, do you want to see pictures of all your rows to date, or do you wan to be surprised.

I would like to see any photos of my rows to date if Krisb or MHobbs has any.

thanks ladies,
best,
d

Krisb 03-14-2013 09:14 PM

I can do charlottemarie's rows to date before I mail them on, but Deb, sorry, didn't take pics of yours before they were mailed. Will take pics tomorrow when the sun is out--like the quality of photography on my phone and iPad is so good that good light really makes any difference. Charlottemarie, let me know if you don't want to see and it will remain secret. Marie, the SB Sues will be flying your way shortly.

I could be done early if everyone wants to. Will be in Gatlinburg playing bridge one week in April, but that's only one week.

charlottemarie 03-16-2013 02:38 PM

Krisb I would love to see my blocks if you want to post the pix! Thanks.
Charlotte

QuilterMomma 03-22-2013 07:29 AM

So where are those photos?

Whigrose 03-22-2013 12:38 PM

:-( I'm waiting for permission from the row owner (mhobbs) if it is okay to post a photo of all three of her rows together, or even just a snippet of the row I did for her.

Hang tight, QM. ;-)

d

Hi all,
Here are Mhobbs three rows together. The pretty pink, purple and green row is Mhobbs, The row with each different block was done by Charlottemarie. That leaves the paper-pieced yellow, pink and green row done by me.

So pretty!

charlottemarie 03-31-2013 07:05 PM

I don't know for a fact but I may be one day late mailing in my rows. Sorry, but I always come down to a time crunch. Even though I know it's coming, I just work better under pressure.

Whigrose 04-01-2013 08:40 AM

Charlottemarie,
Thanks for the update.
And, I do understand about working under pressure. By nature, I am very organized and strangely enough, at times that translates into my doing great things at the last moment. Go figure.

best,
d
