Caroline, I'm digging a handy little tunnel, to some of the above-ground fabric stashes. Bwahahhahahaaaa!!!

Secret Santa hint-
After hours of researching and web-surfing, I've finally found and ordered the main gift, for your SS package. I'm hoping it's as nice as it looks online . . . and that you'll love it. Yep, that's it. That's your hint. :D

Look what just came in the mail from Terri --

http://www.quiltingboard.com/attachm...d=494940&stc=1

Have you ever seen such gorgeous fabrics? They're accented in gold. Though they're not exactly Oriental, I have some blues in Oriental prints that these will blend nicely with.

My guess was 133 -- now Terri will have to tell us if that is the correct number of SS swapees or what the exact number is. Thank you, Terri!!!! :)

Now I'll have to sit out the rest of the games and play vicariously through the rest of you. I believe I'll head to the hole and celebrate with a Pina Colada -- before Neesie enlists me to help shovel that tunnel!

Cooky, if you'll help me dig the tunnels, I'll let you share in spoils from the stash raids.

CookyIN 10-11-2014 11:34 AM

jaba, just wanted to let you know how sorry I am for your loss and that you'll be in my thoughts and prayers. We're here for you any time you want to talk -- either here on this thread or in the Personal Diaries section. *hugs*

That's a deal... and based on these two fabrics I'm thinking we should start at Terri's house! (Now wasn't that mean and a horrible way to repay her kindness... sometimes I'm just a little devil, no doubt about it.)

IrishgalfromNJ 10-11-2014 11:40 AM

Congrats, CookyIn on winning the game. Such pretty fabrics.

I finally purchased some hard cider to try. I bought Angry Orchard, traditional dry, it tastes a lot like chardonnay to me. Very tasty. I'll be coming to the hole after dinner tonight and I'll bring the rest of the cider with me along with a few pumpkin muffins.

tlrnhi 10-11-2014 11:41 AM

The number of people in Secret Santa is 134.

Now, ready for the next question?
Just because you win one time, you can still play in the other games. Doesn't mean you can't.

Cooky..I'm glad you like the fabric. It's one of my favorites.

tlrnhi 10-11-2014 11:41 AM

Jaba, I'm sorry for your loss. Prayers and thoughts for you and your family.

Quilty-Louise 10-11-2014 11:45 AM

I haven't seen my person post here in the SS chatter. But they have
posted within the last week.

Now here are a couple of questions to my person in the HOPES they
will see the question and answer.

Do you:......
1) like buttons?
2) like zippers?
3) like wonder clips? (best invention ever I think)
4) drink coffee, and/or hot heat? iced tea? soft drinks?
5) like Christmas themed items? (not just fabric but other items also)
6) like embroidery bookmarks?
7) have any grand kids? (my first is due in April)
8) put up a Christmas Tree?
9) like handmade (machine embroidery) ornaments?
10) would you like a travel cup/mug?
11) how do you organize your fabric?

I'll be there! Think I'll bring some popcorn... it just sounds good and in the virtual hole, I won't get those pesky things in my teeth. Hate that! I'm sure I've seen Angry Orchard at my local grocery. On your recommendation, I'll pick some up.

BrendaK 10-11-2014 12:27 PM

Sorry for your loss jaba. I have lost two brothers so I can understand what you are feeling. Prayers and hugs for you and your family. BrendaK

SlightlyOffQuilter 10-11-2014 12:38 PM

Do you:......

1) like buttons?

I love specialty buttons, the cute themed ones or designed ones, I have jars and jars of regular buttons !

2) like zippers?

I LOVE zippers ! I like to make bags big and small and zippers are very handy !

3) like wonder clips? (best invention ever I think)

Wonder clips are like a little bit of pinch-able heaven !

4) drink coffee, and/or hot heat? iced tea? soft drinks?

I am a Diet Mt Dew girl ! Hot Cocoa from the Kuring when its cold is about as far as I deviate !

5) like Christmas themed items? (not just fabric but other items also)

I love Christmas items, so long as they are of a more secular nature as we are a non Christian household ( angels are fine, but no nativity based items ).

6) like embroidery bookmarks?

I am not a bookmark user in the traditional sense, but trust me, I would find a way to use it if it came !

7) have any grand kids? (my first is due in April)

No Grands here for a while yet I hope ! My only child is a 15 year old son !!

8) put up a Christmas Tree?

Yep we have a tree !!

9) like handmade (machine embroidery) ornaments?

I would love them !! I have some ( not machine ) ones that my great grandmother made !

10) would you like a travel cup/mug?

I would prefer not a mug as we are not a big hot beverage house, but a travel mug is nice for soda in the car !

11) how do you organize your fabric?

Wait... we are sposed to organize it ? I just hide it wherever Hubs can't see it !

tlrnhi 10-11-2014 12:45 PM

Ok, since there are so many out there, I'm starting next weeks' "reindeer game" early.

Question is...what machine am I going to buy? Ok, I'm just waiting on the delivery of it.
YOU MUST HAVE MAKE/MODEL CORRECT.
Such as...the machine I have right now is a Kenmore Ergo 3. YOU MUST have the name correct.
As always..if there is a tie, names will go in a hat and be drawn that way.
If you've won in the past, you can still play.

PenniF 10-11-2014 12:45 PM

Oh Jaba...I'm so sorry for your loss.
I think the thing is - as often the problem with most "texts" or "emails" sometimes the meaning just gets a little lost. Don't think about it again. Since we are friends here in the "virtual" world, we cannot be "there" for you.... but know that we are thinking of you and sending comforting thoughts your way.

PenniF 10-11-2014 12:47 PM

CookyIN.....CONGRATULATIONS !!!!! Gorgeous fabric.

Terri - really - what kind of machine ??? Not even going to hazard a guess as i know almost ZERO about all the machines i hear y'all talk about so often.

SheriR, don't be intimidated by your Santee's skill level / experience. I felt the very same way in a swap as I was last year, and was feeling very insecure about making her items, knowing that her skills were far better than mine. Some words of wisdom that I actually have hanging on my sewing room wall helped ! :

" Don't Compare Your Beginning, To Someone Else's Middle ! "

Have fun !! We quilters are a pretty easy going and friendly bunch ! I am sure she will love anything you send !

Thank you for that. I hope you're right. I got a package yesterday filled with fun things. I'm sure there's something there my giftee will like!! ;D

Quite easily reeskylr, in the sign up info we only have to send a PM to Terri and it said we don't have to be active on the thread. Chatting here is an option, it helps, (me a lot) if we chat that way we can get to know each other. There are some of us who are not comfortable with posting on lots of threads, I only do a few but I read many. I love reading some threads about peoples stash and wanting to stop buying fabric because they have to much but don't post because I have fabric but its just not quilting stuff, I need quilting fabric. I read about those of you out there finishing all your quilts I have finished 3 and have 3 tops to figure out backs for so have no real UFO's but I love watching all you quilters who have been at it for years. I am still working so have to squeeze sewing time in around everything else. I would love to retire and just craft but that is years away.

PM'ing someone answers to a question is safe and easy but trying to get your thoughts on the board is hard for some of us. Some times when I type something it comes across differently than what I meant it to sound. So for some of us its just easier to read and enjoy. Reeskylr your SS is probably just like me, she will like anything that is sent with love.

To all on this thread thank you for being nice and accepting. I am enjoying the hole this year, last year I stayed on the top and just looked down. The view was nice from up there, but the fire is nice down here.

By the way where is the Vodka? I would like a Bloody Mary to sooth the nerves.

PenniF 10-11-2014 03:07 PM

I had the BEST day at JoAnn's.....don't think i've never seen our local shop so busy !!
My SS hit the jackpot for sure.... got some VERY cool stuff and i still have almost 1/2 my money left !!!! Used my 50% off Notion coupon to buy myself an articulated LED light to attach to my machine - old eyes need more light.....and got 36% off the new foot i wanted for my DSM. Tap danced all the way to the car.....which i am sure was VERY traumatizing for the other people in the parking lot....but what the heck !!
Time to grab my bottle of Shiner and go sit on that inflatable sofa in the hole !!!

m-fay 10-11-2014 03:54 PM

I've been searching the internet and stalking for clues as to what my Santee wants and have had no luck finding it. I hope she will not be too disappointed as I'd never even heard about them till I searched. I did find 1. Thing though...but I'll keep searching.

It measures 3-1/2 x 5-1/4. I put a pin mechanism on the back, so it could be worn as a large brooch or attached to a pillow or large bag -- or with a ribbon looped through the top of the mechanism, it could be used as an ornament. I've got mine displayed on a wicker basket using a ribbon through the pin back.

I wonder if my Santee would like one...

I just wanted to say that, I love that ornament and I will love it when it arrives. LOL!

sewbizgirl 10-11-2014 06:34 PM

I got lost in how long this thread has become... can't begin to catch up so I'll just jump in here at the end. I think I have my person's package all DONE, YAY! Just waiting to mail...

Here are my answers, tho I did send really specific info (too much, probably!) on likes/dislikes for my partner to have. Whoever asked these questions probably didn't get my name...

Do you:......
1) like buttons? Yes, but have more than enough.

2) like zippers? Yes, I use all I can get my hands on in making small pouches/bags.

3) like wonder clips? (best invention ever I think) Nope, prefer plain old pins.

4) drink coffee, and/or hot heat? iced tea? soft drinks? Love hot coffee and tea, also unsweetened ice tea. Soft drinks: not so much. Lots of water!

5) like Christmas themed items? (not just fabric but other items also) Yes but I have plenty!

6) like embroidery bookmarks? Not really big on embroidery.

7) have any grand kids? (my first is due in April) Not yet. :(

8) put up a Christmas Tree? Oh, yes! A real one... with good smell.

9) like handmade (machine embroidery) ornaments? Yes, but without the embroidery.

10) would you like a travel cup/mug? Can always use a new one!

11) how do you organize your fabric? Mini bolts on comic book boards, stacked like books in a bookshelf. I have stacked drawers for my different sized squares.

PeginCO 10-11-2014 08:55 PM

Went shopping today!! Santee, I bought you a book I think you'll love!!! (I do!) And also bought some beautiful FQs for you. :) I have decided on your main gift (besides the book), and tomorrow I hope to get a good start on sewing it. It is something you asked for, and that's all I'll say.

Anyway,
Pretty sure you don't have me, Quilty Louise! More than likely, my Santa has mine all packaged up, for all the info I've given already! But in the spirit of things (and because we all like to know about one another), here are my answers:

9) like handmade (machine embroidery) ornaments? Adore handmade ornaments, but not so big on machine embroidery

10) would you like a travel cup/mug? Would love a Starbucks "You Are Here" mug with your state name on it. I forgot to mention I've been (slowly) collecting them.

11) how do you organize your fabric? Mini bolts for 1/2 yd plus; clear shallow bins for FQs; shoe boxes for various size scraps by color; greeting card boxes for 2.5" squares....separate bins for both text fabrics and sewing-themed fabrics....separate bin for holiday fabrics.

Questions like these are why I'll be the last to tape up my box!

Except for the precious things i get that my DGDs have made me, i don't actually ever receive hand made items from anyone - except at Secret Santa time.....and i am always tickled as can be to get them.
