I "think" I got my package yesterday...also from right around the corner, like so many of you! I'm awaiting a package from another swap, so I'm not positive. But I was warned that the "secret Santa" label accidentally got left off...soooooo...this could be it!! How exciting is that!!

juneayerza 11-16-2014 09:55 PM

I suspect it is just random drawing of names for the most part and is just the luck of the draw if they are from the same area. My package came from several states away, but my Santa-ee just lives south of me.

I agree!

Thanks for the compliments on the socks I made... the crocheted rainbow booties are the Crocodile Stitch Booties from Ravelry, done in Mini Mochi yarn, rainbow colorway. A friend begged me to make those for her little girl! The pattern is by Bonita Designs and she has a pattern for baby, children and adults. The adult boots are shown in green. The crocodile stitch is way easier than it looks!

Neesie, your crocheted house socks look warm and toasty. Just what we need in this arctic blast!

Secret Santa your package was delivered last week. Want to make sure you received.

dharen7 11-17-2014 02:48 AM

I'm expecting two packages, one from Kohls with my work shoes. And Secret Santa. Hope the Kohls box is marked clearly.

Judylee2 11-17-2014 04:03 AM

WooHoo! Both packages are almost to their destinations! Yipee!

I too, have begun my Secret Santa box for next year. I found so many cool things to share with all my quilty friends. I have vowed to my self that after each customers' quilt that I must complete one of my projects. Those really cute projects are the perfect size to complete quickly!

Alaska carol 11-17-2014 04:24 AM

My secret Santa box arrived yesterday from just down the road in Mesa!! I haven't seen opening day and time yet. Help I think I missed it?

Alaska carol 11-17-2014 04:45 AM

Can some one PM me if they know that date? Thanks.

sewbizgirl 11-17-2014 05:38 AM

Alaska carol, we decided on Dec. 7th... time is still undetermined.

PeginCO 11-17-2014 08:33 AM

Ok! It has been confirmed by our wonderful swap hostess that INDEED I have received my Secret Santa package!! Ooooooooooh....so tempting!!

(Croak .... Croak)

I have a question for all of you. After the beginning of the year, I was thinking of do a "make-a-gift-monthly" kind of thing and wondered if anyone wanted to join me in it.

Basically I'm sure most of us does more than one Secret Santa type thing every year and would like to have some home made goodies that are "Generic" (for the lack of a better word as the gift could fit more than one person) made up a head of time for your gift giving needs to alleviate the last minute panic and stress. And sometimes it's hard to come up with fresh ideas that are successful especially if you have a large number of people to make for. Also would be a good place to SS Newbies to visit so they can see some ideas what is made for the swap.

I did start doing that this year and some success before the health issues took over. As a group we could share gift ideas, pictures and advice to show our support to each other. Maybe I found a project that states it's for beginner's but it's not coming together for me. Well I could go to the thread to see if someone found a way that works out differently and Viola!! problem solved and gift is made. Maybe you have a person that kind of stumps you in the thought process, by sharing of general info. we could brainstorm together to come up with some suggestions that might work out for you.

And nice thing is that isn't not limited to just quilting. I love doing all kinds of needle works, So I'm thinking of making some small cross-stitch ornaments. or some cute little craft felt pincushions, and maybe some simple knitted wash clothes.

Also I know a lot of us go on the no-fabric-buying diet at the beginning of the year and I have a thoughts about that too. For example I have a need of small pieces of different colors in homespun fabrics beyond what I have on hand, but because of the diet-- there's no buying... okay so I put out a trade request and say as an example Neesie needs floral prints and has some Homespuns to trade.... we swap... and for the cost of a stamp or two we don't break our diet. Dose this make any sense?

Any ways I was thinking if someone did it with me it could help me be more productive in that arena and keep me motivated during a severely difficult time of the year so that I don't sink in to the black-hole of depression starts now and might go on until summertime. So what do you think?

Tricia

I was also shocked that my SS loved so close to me. I could drive it to her doorstep, but I didn't. Was really tempting though.

I don't like to crow..... But I had to show you all what I have won!!! When Terri asked what machine she was getting I guessed she was buying the Babylock Destiny.... And she was...... How "jel" (as the young people say) are we. Well, asked what I would like for a prize and I replied that I would love anything...... But I didn't realise how wonderful the blocks she sent would be......!!! They are fabulous. I don't know if the picture show how beautifully shiny they are... I am so looking forward to creating with hem.

Terri, thank you so much... They are fantastic.

hugs

Tricia, I would love to join a group of like minded quilter-crafters! I have so many patterns and ideas floating around that sometimes I just need to focus with a little direction. Great idea!! Why wait until the swap/SS/etc sign-up happens to start digging for ideas? It's also a great way to springboard gift ideas for family and friends too!

Bilben 11-17-2014 11:45 AM

Great blocks, CarolinePaj! And Terri!!!

juneayerza 11-17-2014 11:51 AM

Tricia, I like that idea too.

Terri's prize is so cute.

quilt addict 11-17-2014 12:30 PM

Just checked and the package I sent arrived at my giftee's post office. So it should be delivered soon. I thankfully do not have any tempting box yet!

Marilyn43 so wonderful of you to share your experience. I too find the board a source of support and encouragement. Keep on keeping on. I will be in NE to visit family around Christmas and New Years so would be willing to meet in person and give you a real hug, just send me a PM.

Tricia so good to hear from you and such a great story. I was reeled right in. So glad you are feeling better and can join us. I like the idea of a project sew along thread. I am often overwhelmed by the quilt projects and a little project that can actually finish is very nice sometimes.

One of the LQS is moving so they had 70% off notions sale this weekend. You bet I stocked up for the next year's swap! Whoo Hooo!

sew_busy 11-17-2014 01:02 PM

I had a very nice heavy box arrive on my doorstep last weekend! Sorry I wasn't able to post before now but wanted to let my Santa/sender know that I received it!
Thanks in advance--very excited to open it!

hav4boys 11-17-2014 01:04 PM

sewbizgirl 11-17-2014 02:58 PM

It shouldn't be long now... since the mailing deadline was Friday, everyone should be getting their boxes by tomorrow or so. I can't wait to find out if my giftee likes what I sent her.

It's awful we have to wait until December 7!!!! Now that I have my box the suspense is killing me!!!

Judylee2 11-17-2014 03:14 PM

OH Boy Oh Boy! I got my goodie! My Pacakage came today! I shook it, I smelled it! Ooooo, shakey shakey, shakey! If the mail man didn't break it, I figure that I won't break it! I cant believe that it came from 20 miles away! Maybe I can make a new quilty buddy!!!!!

Dedemac 11-17-2014 04:28 PM

Question for the group in the hole, I received something in the mail that was addressed to me that I did not order. :eek:It's a quilt magazine :)I think it is part of my SS box since I have never had a subscription to any quilting magazines.:D Is it permitted to read it:thumbup: or do I have to wait until Dec 7th???:( I really want to look thru it.

Oh......that's a hard one..........I say you can look, but you can't start any projects out of it. You can dream about the project, maybe even go shopping for the fabric, but that's it.

Cindy60545 11-17-2014 04:55 PM

Well, the post office gal left me packages today, but none are marked SS. I know one is the ornament swap & the other 2 are from a friend in Florida. But, with all the packages that were sent out at deadline, it should be arriving any day. Cuts down on the temptations! I may shake, rattle & roll it, but I won't cheat & open early. Bur it's going to be quite a weekend that 1st weekend in Dec.! 3 days of openings!! OOOH! I can't wait!!

btiny36 11-17-2014 05:00 PM

Whoo Hoo came home from shopping and my partner come running around the corner and said lookey lookey here, a package came today....and he wouldn't even let me shake it.....so I waited until he was out of eye sight and quickly gave the box a shake or two, hum no noise, just the sound of paper......my partner is keeping an eye on the package so I'm not tempted to open it.......

I agree with Chester the Bunny--read, drool, buy the fabric but no actual sewing on any project til after opening day.
i come home today to find 2 packages on my porch--yippee! Grinch didnt get them. One was marked secret santa--nice, heavy, no jingles just noise of things shifting around.---put away til opening day.. other package is from one of he ornament swap people--it also got put into bedroom for opening day --which is one day ahead of this one.

PenniF 11-17-2014 05:17 PM

Tricia....count me in on your make a gift monthly idea....as i said, i'm having surgery on my thumb in January and will be in a cast for a while, then therapy....so i don't know what i will be capable of....but like you i can't just sit and do nothing !!! Do you want PMs to get on a contact list??

Caroline --- those are some BEAUTIFUL squares....Whatever you decide to make will be so pretty.

HEY TERRI.....What does it cost ..(ie: what's the minimum bribe amount) to get on your gift list????:p Seriously...those are great.

COME ON LADIES.....MOST EVERYONE IS GETTING OR HAS RECEIVED THEIR SS PACKAGE...So why not go look for that great recipe to share to take your mind off waiting for opening day.

Anoka Quilter 11-17-2014 05:53 PM

Got my SS package today so if your initials are DM and you are in Burnsville MN rest assured it arrived safely. It is a really big box, heavy, and it does jingle if you listen closely. Hubby said he is going to hide it from me so I am not tempted.

cuppy 11-17-2014 06:01 PM

I received my secret Santa package It is heavy , can hardly wait until opening day. My secret pal received hers from me. Secret pal has a return address Metter, Georgia!!

Rennie 11-17-2014 06:24 PM

Still fussing every time the postman passes my house without stopping to deliver anything. But surely this week.... My SS received hers several weeks ago - according to tracker the bloodhound.

crafty grammie 11-17-2014 06:42 PM

Got two packages today on my porch---one from my November secret pal-and my SS box. I really wanted to open them both-it has been a rough 10 days and we had snow, sleet & rain today-16 tonight
