Do you like receiving a mystery project in the mail - then it's time to sign up for the next month of Quilting in the New Year Swap - This is a swap especially designed to swap a variety of completed projects. These projects can be anything from a totebag, table topper, wall hanging, sweatshirt, sewingcase, set of blocks or pin cushion to whatever you choose to make. It's a swap designed to get to know your partner, share ideas - then make her something she might like.
Description: Quilting in the New Year Swap – September 2011 Sign up deadline: September 20, 2011 This is a swap that would enable you to be paired up with another ‘Quilting Pal’ and swap a quilted item that each has made. It can be either machine or hand quilted. The Quilting Pals would know who each other is and can chat about their projects throughout the whole month. Projects swapped do not need to be the same item - so you can make whatever you make best. This would just be for September 2011. You would be signing up for one month at a time. Beginner quilters as well as experienced quilters are invited to join. Every attempt will be made to match you up with a quilter who is at the same level of experience. (If an experienced quilter would like to be matched with a beginner and to be his/her mentor, please let me know.) If you are international, feel free to join! If you are interested in joining, please send me a Private message with the following information. Screen Name: Real Name: Address: Level of Quilting Experience: Can you mail international? Type of Project you'd like to make: Do you smoke or have in house Pets: Allergies: This form will be given to your swap partners. Partners may choose to exchange additional information about such things as color preferences, specific type of project, etc. Partners are reminded that this is a swap. Please avoid issuing too many specifications as though you were placing an order with a commercial business. The elements of mystery and surprise are at least half the fun. The cost limit on this is to be $15 (USA) excluding postage. Sign up will close September 20, 2011. The names will be paired up by September 21, 2011. Partners are responsible for keeping in touch during the month to keep each other updated on the progress of the project. Anyone not completing and sending projects - will be given a poor swap rating and not be able to participate in this swap in the future, All of the standard rules that apply to swaps apply. The rules were updated on 8 Dec 2010, so please make sure to check them before signing up. http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-20154-1.htm In addition: Neither project will be sent out/exchanged until both are done. Partners will agree on a specific date on which each will put their package into the mail. Unless otherwise agreed by both partners, the projects should all be done and in the mail by October 30, 2011. You must notify coordinator when all items have been shipped and received so records can be updated. Group activity page - http://www.quiltingboard.com/group_a...sp?gracnum=205 This project has been approved by PatriceJ. Coordinated by: dream56 (If you want to be added to this group activity, then please send a private message to the coordinator.) |

This is actually my second swap. I will give you a link to see what we made each other. I was floored by her gift to me. I loved it so much, I painted the dining room to match. I made her a 72" table runner in colors to match her decor. (Burgundy and Gold)
http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-150831-1.htm I can't wait to see who my partner will be. |
It's been quiet so I'm issueing a reminder that tomorrow is the final day to sign up for the September Quilting int he New Year Swap.
We do have 15 people signed up so far. |
We are quiet because we are waiting with baited breath? Ok ok. in my case it is because I"m finishing up my August swap one so I can mail to Australia. 15 is a good number.

PM'd you Dee. If need be, I'll do another one.
I've also PM'd my partner! This is so much fun. Thanks for coordinating everything. |
I just responded to my partner! I'm at work and I just gave my kids busy work so I could answer on my phone! :)
So excited! |
me too and I am in the middle of responding to your PM. LOL. Had to put my boss in a meeting so he'd leave my office. Imagine trying to work when I have a new friend! Silly people.

Oh My! Ever have one of those days? It's been that with me. Mom back in hospital...brothers bypass have to be postponed....and As I was quilting Vicky's wall hanging (the last step before binding).....I totally ruined it and have to start over. Sigh. At least I know what NOT to do next time.

What the heck did you do to it to ruin the whole thing? Hope tomorrow is a better day |
October must be a very busy month for everyone, it has been so quiet here. Working diligently on mine when I get a chance. Waiting to see finished projects.
|
so sorry, bonni! is there no way to save it?
|
People tell me there is but to be honest? *I* don't think so. I could take one persons suggestion of taking a black marker and covering up the white stitches but no, I don't want to do that. I did bring it to work today to take a look at it in better light and after a good nights rest to see what I think. I'm still thinking no. This is a learning experience and I can redo it. It might not be quite like the other (since no two quilts are the same) but I think I can redo it.
