September Secret Pal Swap - Sign-ups close August 31

This is a monthly secret pal swap. There is a sign up every month, and you can
Choose whether or not to participate each month. You will get a different partner each month, and the person you send to will be different than the person you receive from. Failure to send you package after signing up will be cause to be banned from all future swaps. Please do not sign up if you cannot fulfill your obligation. Have fun and be creative!

After receiving your Secret Pal’s details, go to work and put together a package with something you think your pal would like. There is a $15.00 limit on this swap that does not include what you have in your stash. (This does not include shipping) Most swappers do not mind like-new stash items. You will need to send me (HAV4Boys) a PM when mailing and receiving. This way I can keep my records straight. Also send a PM to your SP thanking them and leave feedback.

Please take pictures and post in group as everyone likes to see what you get.

Packages need to be mailed out by September 17th, this is a Firm deadline. All International mailings must be mailed by August 10th FIRM. If you know that you cannot mail by that date, Please Do Not Sign Up.

For international mailing it is very important that you mark your parcel as a 'Gift' on the Customs Declaration (there's a box you can check). Also, the value should be $10 only (even if you send diamond necklace). The person receiving the package is liable for Import Duty, Tax and a Handling fee. This can cost the person receiving as much as $40.

Padded envelopes are much cheaper to send compared to small boxes. These can be ordered free of charge from the USPS website.

You must have a phone # or email to sign up

Please fill out the questionnaire below and Private Message me your info by midnight August 31 to join the swap. Please do not use a prior months form as I have made changed to the form.

hav4boys 08-27-2018 09:09 AM

It is hard to believe is is already the 27th of August. Time is flying.

I will do my best to get the names out early Saturday. My son is moving and I promised to help.

LAQUITA 08-28-2018 05:09 AM

Just sent in my info for Sept. Question for you all. Does anyone have / wear a fully apron while sewing? I like to call them 'thread catchers'? This way instead of the thread leaving your sewing area and 'walking' all over the house, you take the apron off and leave them there? I think I'd like to see about making on. Anyone have any other cute ideas?

Annaquilts 08-28-2018 07:45 AM

I don't for sewing but I do for many other things and not just cooking. I was thinking of making one with lots of pockets for small and big items. I have a apron that I use now but it only has two pockets on the front and they are shallow, short, too small for some items and two big for pencils and thermometers. I was thinking kind of like a tool belt with pockets but on an apron.

hav4boys 08-28-2018 08:37 AM

I love aprons. I use them for gardening and cooking. Never thought about using one for sewing, but what a great ideal.

hav4boys 08-29-2018 01:59 PM

It is feeling like fall here in the greater Sacramento region. I welcome the fall. I love the cool weather, the changing colors of the leaves, and the foods of fall.

What is your favorite season?

frsur33 08-29-2018 04:29 PM

My favorite season is fall! I love the crisp air, changing leaves, hot tea, swesters, boots... Just everything. Also I like how you can be outside for more than 5 minutes

frsur33 08-29-2018 04:31 PM

It was 97 degrees here in long island today

Tiny Tigger 08-30-2018 01:53 AM

Still in the upper 80's and lower 90's here in central Missouri. I am so looking forward to cooler temps....

hav4boys 08-30-2018 02:10 PM

I am checking in with everyone... any ideas on improving or what you would like to change in this swap? Please send me a PM. Want to make sure the swap is the very best it can be and am open to ideas.

22 in so far for this month!

Thanks for pointing out the increase from $10 to $15, crispy_frog. $10 is limiting for new items in the quilting world. This will give a little flex.

tumrub 08-31-2018 08:34 AM

Please sign me up for this month. I maybe another Indiana girl

hav4boys 09-01-2018 07:33 AM

Working on getting the secret pals out right now.

hav4boys 09-01-2018 08:08 AM

All the secret pals are out. Let me know if you did not receive yours.

Armylady2012 09-01-2018 11:53 AM

I have received mine

quiltingdragon 09-01-2018 05:16 PM

I got my secret pal - of course, I checked my mail right when I walked in the door from Joann's! My partner is someone I don't think I have ever had as a partner before, giving or receiving!

LAQUITA 09-01-2018 05:41 PM

I got my SS name, I've never had her before, & if I'm right her state should start to look beautiful with fall colors....anytime now.....

Anna- that sounds about perfect! If you do make one please tag me in your picture post! Thanks!

Armylady2012 09-02-2018 11:17 AM

SP some hints for you.

It is unlawful to walk one's cow down main street after 1 PM on Sunday.
There's a law on the Books that say teachers from your state can not receive a raise if they bob their hair.
It's illegal to honk your horn at a sandwich shop after 9 PM.
Alligator's may not be kept in bathtubs.

Good Luck Guessing. I do believe I have been in swaps with my partner before but I am not for sure If I have actually swapped with her.

Annaquilts 09-02-2018 05:06 PM

My Secret Pal makes a type of quilts I have not tried yet.
