DQ Swap

So thankful that your eyes are ok. I've always said that I'd rather lose anything than my eyesight. Got my DQ from buslady today. I love the vibrant colors. The picture doesn't really do the color justice. I also love the simple Amish pattern. Thank you for the notebook and clips.... I can never have too many notebooks. Going to display my doll quilt with my little Amish dolls that I got in Shipshewana IN a few weeks ago. Thank you all for letting me join in this month. It was so much fun that I'm getting ready to sign up for next month! I CANNOT get this picture to upload so I will keep trying.

Krystyna, so glad your eyesight is back to normal and hope it stays that way.

Yes, I have been remiss in not mailing my DQ yet (hanging my head in shame), but have been making slow but steady progress, and have hopes of completing it by the end of the weekend. Lisa has been more than patient with me; I hope she will judge it worth the wait.

BuzzinBumble 08-26-2012 06:50 AM

Krystyna - so glad that your eye troubles turned out to be a short lived problem! Thank God for our eyes!
I read a very interesting article recently about a quilter who makes amazing quilts even though she is blind.... now my brain has a bubble in the plumbing and I can't think where I read it. :o

Very pretty quilts have came in since I last looked -
Judith yours is so amazing and Mary is a lucky duck!
Juanita Bean - how in the world did you do such tiny feather quilting?!
Buslady, those are fantastic colors!
978gray - I love your daisy focal print. How do the Amish resist using prints like that?

Hey! I just got back from Vancouver day before yesterday. What a coincidence. It's an amazing place if you like sky scrapers and traffic and people and more skyscrapers. I think the median age of everyone there is somewhere around 28. Did enjoy seeing the white Beluga whales at the aquarium. How do they teach them to dance????

Nancy - Actually we didn't get to see the city of Vancouver - we were on Vancouver island, across the Salish Sea. We saw Vancouver (city) from the ferry going across though. My DH didn't want to go to the city - he works too often in NYC and has more than his fill of skyscrapers and traffic and crowds.
Why we would have loved to see the Belugas though! Must be some amazing aquarium! Hope you had a great trip!

Near Tofino (on the far side of the island) some lucky folks fishing saw a baby humpack and it breached right by their boat. I think he was just getting a good long look at the odd creatures above the water. It was on the Seattle news and I found a link on the internet. The folks in the boat were filming and caught the whole event. If you love whales you have to take a look at this! An experience of a lifetime!

OMG that whale was CLOSE!!!!

Linny 08-26-2012 09:15 AM

As yet have not kept my promise to post a picture of the dq I sent Juanita Bean...will do so as soon as possible. The interesting thing is that, except for color, we made the same quilts....hope to post soon. All the quilts coming in are lovely.

Here they are, as promised. This is the DQ I received from BJolly yesterday. Take note of the little quilted Amish boy and girl in two of the black triangles and the flowers in the other two. The label is a design in itself, such a professional look to it! Didn't BJolly do a wonderful job? I love it!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

Oh, the picture just does not do justice to the beautiful color choices!!!

BuzzinBumble 08-28-2012 06:54 AM

Beautiful work BJolly! How clever to quilt little Amish children in the black triangles! Onalee you must be pleased as punch!

Krystyna 08-28-2012 06:58 AM

Bjolly, I love the pattern and colors you used. So calming. And I love your label also. Very very pretty.

Lynnie25 08-28-2012 01:19 PM

Oh where oh where can my little DQ be... DragonflyNana I am officially harassing the postie :) :)

Dragonfly Nana 08-28-2012 02:12 PM

Lynnie25 - I am so sorry that this is taking so long to get to you.
The US Post Office was of no help what so ever. It seem that on my International shipment receipt the number is just a transaction # and not the tracking that I asked for! Arrgh - I like the machines better - they do what you tell them unlike some counter people who do what they want - but we can't use them for international shipments.
We are at the mercy of the postal system but if it does not arrive before you head for the mainland visit - I will make you another one and send it via UPS - I know they will get it to you!

Do you want me to post a picture so you can see what you are supposed to have by now?

Lynnie25 08-28-2012 06:34 PM

It didn't come in today's mail but the poor postie was battling strong winds and heavy rain so probably wasn't in the mood to leave a squishy...oh well tomorrow maybe. Let's wait another few days as I like the surprise. I don't head to the mainland for another couple of weeks and it should have arrived by then.

I can't believe it is the start of spring here on Saturday when really we are just beginning to get our bad winter weather - rain, snow, rain, snow :(
