Krystyna, you know me too well! Of course I will be sorry, which will make me all the more excited to jump in in September, right? Sorry you're a terrible driver...LOL! DH & I took a class on line once...can't remember exactly about what, but it wouldn't let you just answer the questions and get out to pass the course...it was timed...so, we anwered the questions and watched TV to while away the time thing...
I'm sorry you've had a bad day with us quilter girls today...do you just need to take us out back of the woodshed maybe??? |

I can't help but sneak a moment here to read about how excited everyone is before I go quilt. Its inspiration and heartwarming to "feel" the joy that these projects bring. Not everyones will be perfect or as good as the top quilters here can do but this is so fun I can not believe in the end that that matters much. The time and energy and goodwill that go into this brings me joy on both sides.. giving and receiving. I can't wait to find mine in the mailbox! Off to sew everyone have a beautiful day. A toasty 90 here today. I am sure hoping for a bit of relief. Maybe next week. Thank God for air conditioning. Imagine this weather in a darned long dress with petticoats (a true lady wore no less than 5)? Uh shorts and a tank top here I come! A fallen woman surely. sigh...
Linda here in SW Oklahoma the temp is now sitting on 114* ..... air conditioning is working double time ... its so good to be inside .... we have had temps over 100* now 45 days .... I'm ready for fall ...... winter would be great ..lol.... stay cool everyone ..... pray for rain for us down here in the south ..we are dried up and buring up .... |

I read your post about me Ms Krystyna! LOL! Okay...everyone...listen up... I AM THE GUILTY PERSON WHO DOESN'T LIKE TO SEW WITH SOLIDS AND DIDN'T SIGN UP FOR AUGUST! Whew! Glad I got that off my chest...feels so much better! :) :) :) And if you want another chuckle, go to July's DQ thread and see what I got from Ms Krystyna yesterday in the mail! LOL! I am lurking here though and will admire what you all are making, and join with ya'all in September, assuming the theme won't be sewing with solids? Perhaps you girls can make a believer out of me yet? :):)

Just wanted you to know I was like you and this was the first time I worked totally in solid colors...And I have to admit I really love how my piece came out...You might want to reconsider and give it a try...
|
Dragonfly Nana is my partner this month and I LOVE LOVE those colours she picked out :) rwquilts, I love working with solids and this month I have decided to go with an 'Amish type' DQ with a modern twist so I hope Dragonfly Nana likes it, just something a little different.
For those ladies who are sweltering in the heat over that way, spare a thought for me - heavy rain and oh so cold evenings abound so I am longing for daylight savings to start beginning October and for much warmer weather. |
I get the Doh' award today! I went to the post office with a bunch of things to mail. The kid behind the counter said to me"And who is this one for?" I told him, "Oh that, it's for Brenda"... Duh guess who forgot to put an address on it! He got a good laugh, and I know I was bright red heading back to the car, hubby asked me who did ya get the package from... "OH this, it's for Brenda"...
So now I get to go back to the post office! So Brenda you package might be a little late! |
That is so adorable marytoddliz. So glad you can share you humor with us. :D
|
Lynnie I can't wait to see what you create with that Modern Twist!
I told you we could swap a couple of days - now if we could just figure out how to do it! :p |
And to my second partner GinnyMc - jump on in here lady, the fabric is flying!
|

|

That's funny! I've had to use mine a bit yesterday on this new block I had to use it on 3 blocks before I finally finished the top part only!

Funny thing, before I started participating in this swap when those persnickety little points didn't match up, I'd often sigh and say ... "Oh ... close enough." No more. This board has absolutely destroyed my casual outlook. Foo.

Do you still need someone to take an extra partner??? if so, I will! just let me know!
|
Mine is all packed and will be mailed tomorrow to Elisabrat...I think she'll like it...I really enjoyed this "theme" and having to use Solid colors for the first time in my 5 yrs of quilting...How can that be?
|
I will be shipping Lynnie25's tomorrow as it has a long way to go. I hope to finish GinnyMc's this weekend and ship out on Monday.
|
Oh, you guys! Mailing already?! Mine for Bjolly got cut out tonight. Funny, thought I had the perfect fabric, decided it might be too bright, considered t-dying to tone it down. Thought i was the only one that considered "cheating" like that. LOL great minds think alike! When top is done i will decide.
|
Woot Woot, I'm partnered with QuilterMomma. Can't wait. Now, where did I put that solid fabric? LOL!
|
Krystyna, dont get grumpy. Sometimes things happen. I PM'd you earlier and will gladly do another partner. Mine is so wonderful so I am keeping her. Also, I finished Hobbykat's today and will mail on Monday. I could use another weekend warrior project.
tammy if your like me you put it at the store where it belongs :o I am a newbie to using solids. Give me blenders anyday and shoot while I am ordering out hows about nice patterns to go with it on the side? |

I am finished with my DQ... I loved working with the solids... A little story I found out last night. My Husband is a painter and often times I go with him as his helper. We did a job for a childhood friend's parents. His friend had passed away earlier in the year and the Mom was so sweet to us. She found out I was a quilter and gave me lots of fabrics, a huge box of fabrics that were mostly solids, and also she gave me a hand quilting hoop, really cool to quilt while you watch tv... Any way last night I was showing hubby my Amish quilt and told him I used some of the fabric that his friend's Mom had given me. He told me that she was Mennonite, and had come from Pennsylvania.
So my Amish Doll Quilt was actually made from Mennonite Fabric, I have found very little difference in the styles of Quilting. Here is a sneak peek for Needle Grammy. It will be in the mail Monday Morning. Krystyna I would love to be an Angel... Although I do on occasion have some tiny horns poking out... (I though they were necessary to hold up the Halo:o) |
I am not grumpy at all today. Actually, reflecting on the words of a quilty pal, the stinky days, when they roll around, make the other ones so much sweeter ~ and today is a honey of a day.
And ... I received my quilt from Lara already. I think she set some kind of record. Pix to follow. And Marybeth sent me the sweetest little monkey whose arms were full of yummy FQs! Thank you for brightening my day. |
marytoddliz - what a neat thing to have happen. Do you know if she made the fabric too? How cool would that be!

Finally got my DQ planned out tonight. EQ7 made it way easier than me trying to figure out the math for the sizes I wanted. Here is a sneak peak for Krisb....
|
my top is done am going to quilt it today.
|
Just looking at QuiltingKrazy's fabric, I think most quilters on this board would say, "Blah" ... BUT I think this is going to be one of the most amazing months ever. The simplicity of the fabric really allows the design itself to shine.
I have my blocks done and am now working on the sashing. We went to Joann yesterday so I could pick up some goodies for my secret pal and I noticed the Accuquilt Go! dies were on sale at 40% off. They didn't have much there, but I picked up a strip die. Not sure if I'm going to keep it or not. It is really tough to crank that long die. |
Been in touch with partner, bjolly, and raring to go! Bustingbutt packing, colapsing into bed at the end of the day! Glad it is Amish month, simple works for me this month. I think she and I will have a great time this month.
|
Oh, Krystyna, there is NOTHING booring about fabrick. It is the cutting and reassembling that make the plainest of fabric absolutely beautiful.
|
Mine is quilted, all I have to do is cut the binding strips and label. Dummy me, I put a spool of hand quilting thread on my machine and had to rip out the majority of the quilting because it bunched up. Glad it was a small quilt that had to be ripped instead a h u g e one! LOL

Buslady, you're right. NOTHING boring about solids.
Here is the amazing little quilt made by my partner BuzzinBumble aka Lara. My photo doesn't do justice to the colors. They are fantastic. And the pieces are soooo teeny tiny! She was also so kind and generous and sent some minky (which I've never sewn with before), two magazines with some extremely cool modern and civil war patterns I want to try, and patterns for a seasonal quilt and an Amish doll! Thank you sooo much! OOPS! Sorry about the extra photos. They didn't seem to be uploading ... but I guess they were! Now they won't go!!! |
WOW you all are fast! I am still researching! but I did dig out all of my solid fabrics, now the interesting part is to find something to make them look good together.. hehehe... Krystyna are you going to make us all Amish dolls? ;)
|
Question: My Amish Quilt is a sampler done in black blue and purple. I was planning on using my embroidery machine for the quilting pattern, but wonder about the thread. Yesterday when I was in Joann I picked up some variegated thread that goes from black to gray. What do you think? Or should I stick with black?
