The RWB carpenters star and the teddy bears are very nice. The teddy is so adorable.

LisaLisa, turkcock wadflew in yesterday or day before. I forget which day -- yesterday was such a goofy day all day long! I was glad to go to bed! You did a wonderful job of quilting Bertie's Birdie! I am going to hang him in front of my computer wall where I'll smile and think of you every day! For the rest of you I will try to put up a picture some time this weekend. Right now I need to deliver a couple of sewing jobs I did but I wanted to let LisaLisa know I got the bird!

Here is the wonderful DQ for June from Kitsykeel! She did a wonderful job and also filled the box with TONS of goodies! There was several kinds of fabrics, 3 metal pins that will be perfect for embellishing a DQ and two different pkgs. of bias tape! She even included a adorable card! Thank you so much Kitsy, it has been great being your DQ partner! Oh, it is on my table right now, ready for the 4th's activities!

BuzzinBumble 07-03-2013 04:15 PM

Really love the quilt you made for Jean Kitsy! Especially the adorable yoyo in the center. And wow that is some fancy piecing in the corners!

Linny 07-03-2013 05:17 PM

More and more I like quilts with a little more white in the background. Yours is so pretty, Kitsy. Very nice work.

dabbler312 07-03-2013 06:23 PM

Beautiful quilt Kitsy! I love the overall design and the yo-yo center is too cute.

Krystyna 07-03-2013 07:10 PM

Kitsy, what a wonderful design! I love it. And Linny, I agree. White is an under-used color. It adds so much in such a ... um, white way!

I haven't received it yet. I'll let you know when I get it. I'm sure it's going to be beautiful.
The Carpenter's star was a fun project except the binding. I must have done and undone the binding four times. I have issues with bigger quilt binding. Little doll quilt binding isn't easier. I have been introduced to a new to me way while watching Eleanor Burns finishing a quilt show. The backing was bigger and she folded it to the quilt sandwich and then folded it over to do the binding. With this trick I can binding now.

I didn't get the doll quilt yesterday, but I did get my new project Season's Greeting fabric from the Fat Quarter shop. New lines come and go so fast. Here's a peek at my new project fabric. Tell me what you think. It's for double pinwheel blocks.

BertieD 07-04-2013 04:16 AM

Great job, Kitsy! Love the quilt and I bet Jean really loved all the extra goodies that came with it!

BertieD 07-04-2013 04:18 AM

Berryberry, your new fabric is really pretty. Will make gorgeous double pinwheels!

Krystyna 07-04-2013 12:06 PM

Who's missing quilts from June?

Krystyna 07-04-2013 07:41 PM

I've now heard from two people who have not received quilts from the June swap.

Seriously, if you know you are going to be busy during a particular month -- don't sign up!

Deadlines are not a suggestion. They are deadlines!

This is the primary reason I decided to resign as hostess.

To all of you who send beautiful quilts that stay with the theme and are on time, thank you.
You are the ones who have made this swap a joy.

To the others --- really????
Is this how you would like to be treated?
This is not OK.

Done with my rant.
Be good to BuzzinBumble. Please.

Maybe those who have not sent a quilt should be listed for all to see. I see no reason to afford them anonymity when they have so blatantly ignored the rules and basic common courtesy.....

Vanogay 07-05-2013 04:16 AM

Could be, just maybe a real good reason. One participant (can't remember who) posted pictures of her package that was late - her partner had been in an accident and missed the deadlines (understandable). Just playing devil's advocate here - I agree with K that deadlines are to be kept and for me, that's always been a thorn in my side. I'm waiting for a package on another swap here - it's way late. Oh, well...

I agree Vanogay, life does happen and we certainly want to be compassionate and caring in those situations. the ones I'm talking about are the ones who don't respond to PM's but are seen on the board posting daily in other threads.

My Red, White and Blue quilt from debbyg

5 Attachment(s)
Look what I received from debbyg! She really put a lot of thought into this awesome quilt. Notice the maple leaves - very nice touch, "America" on the top, "Canada" on the bottom, part of Canada's anthem "Our home and native land" on the left, and part of America's anthem "God shed his grace on thee" on the right. Some bling on the pin cushion and scissors, and she even quilted the label! Thank you so much Debby, I love it!!

Krystyna 07-05-2013 01:52 PM

WOW! I'm speechless! That is an amazingly fabulous quilt! Wow and also WOWWWW!!!

jaba 07-05-2013 02:24 PM

It's awesome! Pretty much says it all in one sweet little package.

BuzzinBumble 07-05-2013 03:45 PM

Wow Debby! You made a completely amazing quilt for Bilben! How wonderful that you combine Canada and the US in their anthems written on the side. It is very moving AND you did a really good job at it!

Jean D 07-05-2013 06:31 PM

What a thoughtful DQ from Debbyg. They are all little gems. Such unique styles and creative people here. I look forward to looking every night and seeing what came in each day!

1 of my partners hasn't posted what I sent her but delivery confirmation says it was delivered. I'd love all of you to see it so this is what I sent to argentium for the red, white and blue. I hope she liked it, I haven't received mine yet but hopefully she will mail soon.

Krystyna 07-06-2013 05:05 PM

Jaba, that is outstanding. I love the liberty bell center. I'm so sorry you haven't heard from your partner. I sent her a PM and see that she is logging onto the board so chalk another one up to incredible rudeness.

BertieD 07-06-2013 05:16 PM

Bilben, I'm really impressed with your little quilt from debbyg. She does do nice work, doesn't she? Very nice!

Cogito 07-06-2013 06:54 PM

Jaba, your quilt is wonderful!:) Thanks for sharing. I had Argentium as a partner in May...she is very busy with school, etc. and was a little late but sent an exquisite quilt to me so I have no doubt you will receive the same.

Perhaps, but deadlines are deadlines. When we don't think we can fulfill our obligations, sometimes it's best not to sign up.

The Hostess gives you your deadline before you sign up. I totally agree that if you know your schedule is going to be busier than normal don't sign up. And if something unexpected happens, notify the hostess and your partner letting them know what is going on.

I will be making a trip to the quilt store tomorrow for the background fabric for this months quilt. What I have is just a little too dark for what I need. And the one I have that is light enough is not big enough. UGH.

mooretll 07-07-2013 01:18 AM

Ok I am one who sent out late so shoot me. I have been doing this swaqp for 18 months and this is the first time I have ever been late. yes life does get in the way sometimes and my granddaughter is why I was late she will be having surgery Tuesday and in Aug we will find out if it was a success when she lets us know she can hear us for the first time. with that said I will sign off and most likely not do the swap anymore!

Chasezzz 07-07-2013 02:44 AM

Jaba...sweet quilt! The bell and the loyalty, duty, honor fabric are great together.

Mooretil, I think everyone understands that occasionally--and once in 18 months is occasionally--life intervenes and certainly family comes first. I think that communication is the key when this happens. A PM to the swap partner letting her know you are unexpectedly overwhelmed and the DQ will be a bit late is the key. Making sure to acknowledge the DQ you receive when you get it is also key. If you communicate with your partner you will get a lot of support from the people on this exchange. I'll be praying for a wonderful outcome for your granddaughter.

berryberry 07-07-2013 04:13 AM

I received my lovely quilt from dabber312 yesterday. It's a beauty. I'll have pictures posted before the day is out. (Battery charging) I really admire the binding. I have a time doing bindings. In fact I have several unfinished projects that just need bindings but I dislike binding so much they remain unfinished. Dabber312's binding ability is perfect. The binding is even, stitches aren't showing and it's straight. Sorry I didn't post yesterday. I've just been looking at the quilt and admiring her skills.

Debbie, it wasn't you. You have been here and plodding along through thick and thin. And if someone sends you a PM, you always answer right away. There is another person who has sent out late consistently and does not respond to PMs although she is on the board regularly.

sistahdebbra 07-07-2013 06:02 AM

I agree, communication is the keyword. I was late this moñth but I PMed BertieD . So we're cool and my name is safe from the doghouse.. Hope you like it BertieD!!

BertieD 07-08-2013 02:44 PM

I've tried posting a picture three different times now. I don't know what's happening with this blanket-blank computer today! I WILL keep trying - Sistahdebbra sent me a wonderful RWB quilt for june called "Sweet Liberty" and it has lots of hand work on it which I love. Goodies came with it to keep me humble, haha. (She knows I need help in the small even stitching area so she sent me some tiger tape amont other stuff, a flag, a Jean-a-ma-Jig for hemming DH's pants up to 26.5" inseam, and some needle pullers to save my fingernails). I'll post this first so I don't forget and I will try again to post a picture.

Krystyna 07-08-2013 02:51 PM

Darling Bertie, email the photos to me and I'll resize and post.

I do LOVE it, sistahdebbra. It came today with accompanying goodies. Thank you very much. You knew I liked birds, didn't you? I appreciate all your handwork on this little quilt and I really like its name. Okay, here goes to see if I can post pictures or not.

Well, I can but that was the wrong bird! Something flipped on me and it wasn't my fingah! I'll try again!

And now I finally have it! Don't you all agree she did a mahvalous job!

BertieD, I use the Jean-a-ma-Jig to lift my machine foot up and over humps to avoid jagged stitching lines. I don't hem pants for me or hubby - lol. And I'm glad you like it, I enjoyed doing it. My BIL tried to steal it so I'm making something similar for him for next year.

Here's the beautiful quilt dabber312 sent. Look at that binding! I can only hope one day I'll be able to do it half as good.

Krystyna 07-08-2013 07:49 PM

What a beauty! That little quilt just oozes pure Americana at it's best.
