Not sure I'd hear the drumming or the tapping! The jungle & zoo animals are quite a roar! ;) (Jungle/Zoo swap)

Okay, impatiently waiting. :D

Mariposa 06-16-2012 07:34 AM

Ah, those little squares are having fun playing with all the jungle blocks downstairs! Yes, it gets very noisy at times! ;):)

mariposa i took a peek over in that swap and there are some interesting blocks. i wouldn't know what to do with them and i know they would probably end up sitting in some storage space somewhere if they were at my home.

you my dear are a busy swap host.

Mariposa 06-16-2012 09:00 AM

havplenty-- at your place, that just leaves more room for all those little squares to multiply in the dark!!

as a matter of fact i am sewing 1.5" strip sets today for my 2 psq's. i have a laundry basket full of individually sewn 1.5" squares also. once i get this next swap set, i will sort them and start incorporating them into my quilting projects. i have requests for several sets of postage stamp potholders that i need to finish up so...... like twisted i am patiently waiting for my swap goodies.:)

Wow, can't imagine a laundry basket full of those little monsters! Here's my unorganized bin of stamps. I believe my stamps are 'sterile', they don't seem to multiply at all. Maybe if those jungle animals weren't so noisey they would be able to 'get busy' and multiply. 5 or 6 more swaps and I should I have enough for a quilt.

twisted i surpassed that amount (in your pic) a looonnnggggg time ago. i posted some pics on my blog of some of the containers of squares i have. do you have any ideas set aside for your postge stamp quilt project (i.e. size, pattern)? the blocks for my random psq are 10 x 10 so it takes 1000 squares for 10 blocks. each swap nets me 10 blocks for the one psq. i don't know how many blocks i have assembled yet. i have 10 blocks clipped on my design wall and the rest are in laundry baskets. i have those little squares everywhere and i mean everywhere. :)

Twisted Quilter 06-18-2012 01:31 PM

No definite design in mind, probably just a random selection of dark/light/medium. Maybe sashing, but again not sure. I can't believe you're working on 2 postage stamp quilts at the same time. You are one super woman!

are a crazy one as the csase may be.:D once i started with collecting the squares i had to do something with them. i wish i could train myself to do the leaders and enders, i would get through with my sewing them much faster, but my brain needs a certain process and not the co-mingling of projects. so when i set time aside to sew postage stamp squares, that is all i do.

so you see how the 2 psq's got started? i wanted random but i also wanted design. this idea came to me after we were discussing psq designs from the last swap that you hosted. i looked at so many pics, then that's when i found it, perkiomen daydreams quilt. since i had already trained my brain to think in 1.5" (strips, blocks), this 2nd quilt was a natural progression. i just hope when i get them both completed, i can stop myself from cutting 1.5" strips from all of my newly acquired fabrics.:D

Mariposa 06-18-2012 05:23 PM

Havplenty~ you know you will just keep cutting! An addiction, sort of! ;)

Evie 06-19-2012 07:04 AM

Mariposa, what's the final count of swappers? Can't wait to add to my 1.5" stash! Like Havplenty, I've become addicted to these little squares, but unlike her I use them mostly as leaders and enders unless I feel like doing "mindless" sewing. I have about 75 seven-inch blocks and haven't quite decided what to do with them!

Mariposa 06-19-2012 09:07 AM

Just over 30 swappers! :)

seller noted it as 6000 squares. i wonder if they were selling them as a business or even on ebay and may have decided to sell them as a lot. who has time to cut 6000 squares if it wasn't for a business?

there is a person on ebay that was selling 4000 2" squares for about $40.00. i was tempted to buy them for my psq projects as i was thinking of the hours it was taking me to cut that many squares. i am sure plenty of us quilters would pay to have cut squares.:)

goldendog55 06-20-2012 04:16 PM

You can tell I'm a scrap quilter. I have a big bin of 1.5 squares and drawers in cupboards of each size of fabric by 1/2". 1.5, 2", 2 1/2", 3", etc. up to 6". All the rest of my fabrics are either in a plastic shoe boxes, folded, and if they are larger than a fq, they are folded on shelves, by color or holiday. When I need something, I shop in my own stash! (And I actually use all these sizes!)

Twisted Quilter 06-20-2012 07:00 PM

Thanks for the cape Havplenty! DH wanted to know if it's going to help me clean the house any faster. I told him I wasn't sure, but he could borrow it and we'll see how fast he gets it done. No din-din for him tonight. :D

Mariposa 06-28-2012 04:40 AM

Mariposa . . . I was so busy closing the library at school and getting all the textbooks back and dealing with graduation that I missed out on this!!! My apologies to everyone for signing up and then not participating. I don't usually do that. I'll be sure to keep on track the next time. I really hate that I missed this!!!!

sew4nin 06-29-2012 12:24 PM

Happy Day! I got my stamps today:)
I would not have thought there could be so many different ways to package 50 stamps. I have company all next week, so I won't get to play for awhile. I sure have something fun to look forward to.

Thank you everyone.

Special thanks to you Mariposa for hosting this.
