ooh which i had gotten a cq swap partner in malaysia but didn't. perhaps next time. will you at least fan the fabrics out and take a pic so i can enjoy them once you receive?

Lol I thought that too!

barri1 08-22-2012 03:42 AM

I swapped with three from Australia, and one from Canada... I don't notice any difference in the fabrics from there.. I don't want to buy any fabric, but I do notice that there are more variety out west. I only have Joann's, and there are a couple of them. I like seeing the fabric before buying. I went to The city quilter in NYC, and was disapointed in the limited choices. I had a great time in Lancaster PA. I also ran into a couple of problems whe I was in the stores with sensory overload. There were too many choices, and I didn't buy much.

peaceandjoy 08-25-2012 04:48 AM

So sorry, I won't be getting fabric from Malaysia to show you. The other swap I am in offers newbies an opportunity to receive squares. I was sending 2.5" squares to Malaysia, but won't get any back. Just helping out somebody who is just starting.

~ when i go to my lqs that happens to me also, sensory overload. i love everything!!!! so i usually just go over to the remnant bin or look on the mark down tables and purchase from there. it makes it easier on me.

~ ok on malaysia. so we won't get to see malaysian fabrics. maybe next time. i also swapped with australia and canada for the cq swap. well the fabrics i received was nothing i had in my stash before so it will all be different which is what i wanted. i am sewing so many strip sets for both of my psq's and i was buying so many 1/8 yard pieces to get different fabrics for them, it will be good to have so many other different pieces to sew together.

It's about time, Bev.. I got mine out awhile ago. I was trying to clean up, and it was annoying me sitting there looking like it wanted to be out of the mess. Now all we have to do is wait for our envelopes.
Thanks Rhonda for doing all the work.. You are greatly appreciated.

Mariposa 09-02-2012 09:58 AM

Thanks for your kind words Barri. :)

We do have more folks that have sent in their sets too. I'll post names here in a bit! :)

Hi Mariposa,
I tried to send you a private message but it could not deliver it because your folder is full. I was just wondering if you received my package of squares?
Thanks for hosting this swap, I can imagine all the time it takes you to sort all of it.

Honchey 09-11-2012 04:38 PM

My Goodness!! why didn't someone warn me about all the counting!! everytime I counted I came up with a different number...I must have counted 30 little mounds 3 different times...next the little bags...I forgot to put my name beside the user name so I had to take each piece of paper out then back in again after I added my name... Anyone have a good, easy system of doing this for future swaps? ...Yes, I will be doing it again :) I will get better at doing it..
These little bundles will be in the mail tomorrow...All I can say now is...Whoopie!!!!

Mariposa 09-11-2012 08:15 PM

Honchey-- I can say, Thanks so much! for taking the time to put all your info on each baggie! :)

marytoddliz 09-11-2012 10:23 PM

Honchey, try a mailing label, you might want to add your board name too... although I usually have to add mine because I forget!

I use the ones that might not be good enough to use on the envelope because they did not print real exact! AND... if you plan on doing more, I cut my scraps into sq's as I go along and put them into baggies as soon as I am done cutting them, with a slip of paper and how many are in the baggie, makes it a lot easier and one step ahead of the next Swap.

Marybeth

sew4nin 09-12-2012 04:59 AM

Honchey - I, too found the counting to be a challenge when I did my first swap. I now try to include a couple extra, so if my counting is off or if there are 2 stuck together, I can still feel confident that my fellow swappers are getting at least 50. For me that ends up beein faster and easier than trying to count multiple times and getting frustrated with the interruptions (kids, husband, dogs...)

Honchey 09-12-2012 07:59 AM

Thanks for all the tips....I've started to organize my fabric on foam boards and have started to cut off pieces to use for stamps and charms...Now I'm thinking...I should cut 13 "" so I could get a 2.5 strip, layer cakes, charms & ps...another project in the thinking!!! I better stop thinking ahead..H.

Nelco 09-12-2012 11:02 AM

What I do for my labels is type them up with my name 'nelco' last name just like a sticky address label and print them on plane paper and cut them as I need them. I get 30 on a sheet of paper.

Mariposa 09-13-2012 05:51 AM

Kendra- I will let you know when your squares arrive. :) Have fun with the horses!

Mariposa 09-13-2012 03:24 PM

islandwiz1-- your squares arrived today! :)

dressmakergurl 09-14-2012 12:12 PM

I have never used squares this small. I saw this swap and the Candy 2.5" squares. Ok ladies. Here is a dumb question. What patterns are best for these tiny squares? Someone said they were not hard to sew. I am not sure.
And I have to mail all the squares in baggie w/ my name and postage for return? What is the fastest way to cut 1.5"
squares?? Deadline to sign up is tomorrow and I am on vacation until tomorrow. So I have to do alot of cutting when I get home.

Mariposa 09-15-2012 06:14 AM

hensandhollyhocks- your package arrived last night! :)
