Summer 2013 PS swap- Sign ups close July 1st

This swap is for 1.5" squares (postage stamps) in sets of 50 different 100% cotton fabrics. Please send what you would like to receive. Limit is 20 sets per swapper.

*Please send me a PM to sign up, and let me know how many sets you'd like to swap.

*Please use quality 100% cottons only! NO flannel, NO homespun, NO blends. If in doubt of fiber content, please leave it out!

*All sets do not need to be identical. You can use any 100% cottons in your stash!

*Please MAKE SURE to trim off selvages before cutting your squares. Also try to be accurate in your cutting of the squares, so they DO measure 1.5". Rotary cutting these does help with accuracy.

*Please double check that your sets have 50 (or more) squares in them! We don't want to short change anyone.
Also check that there are 50 DIFFERENT fabrics.

*It seems to work best to put the squares into small, snack size baggies. Be sure to label each baggie with your name, board name, etc.

Sign-ups close July 15, 2013. Sets are due to me by July 30th. I will swap them out, and get them in the mail no later than Aug. 15th.
** International folks, please mail 10 days earlier! To make sure I get them in time.**
For mailing:
Most folks have been sending in stamps, a USPS m.o. or cash for a PADDED flat rate envelope ($5.95). It does make things a lot easier, and no worries about bulky packages. Delivery Confirmation is included. I can supply these envelopes, they are free from usps.com.
NO pre-paid printed postage! They are dated, and my P.O. does not accept it!
If you choose to send a different envelope, please, please make sure there is plenty of postage $ for it. An extra stamp, or such wouldn't hurt. These packages are "bulky" and get considered a "parcel", per my Post Office. They charge more for that.
If your sets cost more than what you sent in, I have no choice to hold them until I get the difference. In the last swap, I had several that were "over". It all adds up. Thanks for your understanding.

Please feel free to mail your sets early, if you wish.

If you have any questions or concerns, please send me a PM.

Do you guys have a template you use when cutting squares?
I can't seem to find one, maybe I could make one out of cardboard.

Wanda, I just use my rulers. First I cut one long strip from the WOF with my 24" ruler and the I use my 6"ruler to cut my squares. Do not use cardboard. Every time you use the cardboard it will get smaller and all of a sudden you will see that your squares are smaller. That makes it difficult to sew the squares.

djmat 06-15-2013 03:10 PM

I love my rulers & marked matt!

Country1 06-21-2013 02:13 PM

I have mine cut and baggie my 20 sets tonight. Doing the happy dance for getting mine done so early this time!

Country1 06-21-2013 02:22 PM

I cut mine wof X 1.5", then I put several on my mat and take my June Tailor Slotted Shape Cut. It has slots every 0.5". Love it, I wanted 1 ,but was to tight to buy one. DH and I was at an estate sale and it was still new in the plastic with instructions for $3.00. Needless to say I grabbed it up real fast. Score! I use it ALOT and LOVE it!!!!!!

SheriR 06-21-2013 09:13 PM

Ohmygosh how did I miss this? Am I to late to sign up... I'll scroll up and read the details. I'm just totally consumed in a project for my DEARmotherInlaw. She's 89 and I'm sewing all her 6 children/23 grandchildren quilts from her stash. I made 5 last week and have been cutting 4.5" squares ALL this week. I'm tired of cutting, frankly. But I know I have 1.5" strips all ready to cut down. Do I need to pm mariposa? Of course....hangs head....PMing her now... :D

Oh max sets. :D

Mariposa 06-22-2013 10:22 AM

Sheri-- I gotcha! :)

Patrick's Mom 06-22-2013 11:20 PM

dj-- the first picture~~ :)

Keeping color coded active swap fabric in a separate drawer makes it easy to find! Recently restocked FQs used in a March swap back into general stash. Nice to have 4 active swap drawers at one time.:D Plus, keeping a swap set helps keep track.

booklady 06-29-2013 09:40 AM

Mariposa, sent my squares yesterday as I'll be on a trip in July. Only 17 this time though! 3 of the little buggers slipped out of the envelope onto the floor in the car on the way to the P.O. Oh well, they'll get added to the leftover stack for a future trade somewhere. Thanks!!!

Mariposa 06-29-2013 12:17 PM

booklady- thanks for the heads up! I will let you know when they arrive~ :)

Mariposa 06-29-2013 03:52 PM

booklady, your package got here this afternoon! That was quick! Good thing you had the envelope lined, since there was a 4" hole missing from the outer envelope! Yikes!

booklady 07-07-2013 10:07 AM

Good Grief! what does that post office do to those packages? eat them for lunch?!!! Also glad I double packaged it!

Mariposa 07-08-2013 06:05 AM
