Summer 2017 I Spy Swap
Who's up for swapping I Spy squares again? It's time.
Swaps need to be in my hands by Aug 15. I will be out of town from July 20 to Aug 10[SUP]th[/SUP] or so but someone will be here to get the packages. I will not be able to acknowledge packages received until I get home. Please take your time cutting and be sure you have correct 5" squares. Let’s have all good squares this time. Cutting/Packaging Method: We will be sending 10 Different fabrics in each bag we swap. All your bags can have the same mixture in them, or different, but you cannot repeat fabrics in any one bag. We will be swapping bag for bag, so there must be 10 different fabrics in each bag. Please put your board name and state on every bag you are swapping. For instance, "rbwiese TN" for mine... You may swap in groups of 8 bags. Some have expressed wanting more sets of bags, so I am removing the upper limit – but each one must use a different set of 10 fabrics. You will get 8 - 5" squares in one width of fabric, Providing your print does not require fussy cutting. If it does, you may get fewer cuts out your yardage. Please Fussy Cut if your print requires it. Send the kind of nice squares you hope to receive. Anything less than 8 is not cost-effective for you (shipping). Also – please limit licensed prints and holiday prints to 1 per baggie. The Usual 'Stuff': 1. Send what you would like to receive, quality-wise. Send only 100% cotton quilting fabric. Please do not send thin or loosely woven fabrics. If it has to be starched to be acceptable, it's probably not a good fabric for this swap. 2. Try and find new prints you have not sent before or seen in the swap, if at all possible. We all like new stuff! Please select prints that would be acceptable in a child's quilt. No flowers, lines, stars, geometrics, batiks. We need recognizable objects. If I find unusable fabrics in your baggies, I will return all to you unswapped. 3. THEN, pm me (rbwiese) and tell me you want to join and how many bags you intend to swap. I need your real name and address. I will respond to you with my mailing address for you to mail your swaps to me. 4. Put all your swap baggies in one big ziplock with your name and mailing address, as well as your board name. That will keep them together in your package and if it happens to get torn open in shipment, your address will be there for the P.O. to return to you. Speaking of "torn open"... those paper flat rate envelopes are the pits. They tear so easily, especially with lumpy contents in them. Do yourself a favor and use something better-- like the Tyvek envelopes or padded flat rate envelopes. You have to order the latter from the post office online, in packages of 10, but they are free. If you do it NOW, you will have your envelopes in time to mail. 5. Postage: I will be using the padded flat rate envelope. It now costs $6.50 for the padded flat rate envelope using Paypal address labels. Please send cash or you can use Paypal. I can send you my account info. If you send stamps, it will cost the $7.20 that is required by the Post Office. If you have a Paypal account, you can print single label shipping for $6.50 – here is the link https://www.paypal.com/shiplabel/create/ If you want to use an alternative envelope method, please put the postage on the envelope and enclose the self-addressed envelope to me. Remember to send in what you would like to receive back. Let’s have tons of fun, and of course you have to follow all the basic QB swap rules, found here: http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-20154-1.htm |
Let the fun begin. I'm in for 2 sets. Have fun on your trip.
|
I am in and my Mom is in. Have new fabric and just need to cut. Will let you know how many we will be sending!
|
Mine are cut and ready to sort and bag. Will do that sometime this week, and pop them in the mail to you. :)
|
I'm in for 1 set for sure, maybe two.

Great to have you all!

Hello from NC! I've never participated in this swap before so I am jumping in up to my neck. I planned I Spy quilts for my great nieces and great nephews so I need fun stuff! My stash is limited for novelty prints but I have enough for a few sets. I've looked at I Spy quilts on pinterest for inspiration and I love the photos showing kiddos actually looking for items plus the labels that list what you can find. Glad to be on board and I'm looking forward to seeing the finished projects!
|
Mailing my squares in the morning. Tracking info sent via PM. :)
|
My package went in the mail yesterday.

When you have time to go through your prints send me a PM with your info. |
I just found a wonderful print with a pair of foxes on it today. Fussy cut will give me 8 from one 5" strip. Sweet! I will pm you as soon as I have everything together.
|
Nice to know it got there. Now I won't have to wonder.

I would like to join. Can we use Disney characters? Do they need to be for boys or girls or both?
|
Susanna, the rules don't prohibit it, so I guess you can. (Sometimes, they do.)

I just finished getting 2 sets together. These are fabrics I've swapped before either here or on my other swap group. (I have a accuquilt cutter, so often cut more than I need.) Many of these are discontinued, so will not be seen again. No 2 bags are exactly alike, so mine cannot be used for a matching game. There are no duplicates from set 1 to set 2, however. I will label the bags, "not for matching". If you want 2 sets for matching, be sure and tell Rena.

OK - it didn't include your quote GracefulAnn - sometimes QB has a mind of its own. I tried several times earlier to leave feedback and it wouldn't cooperate, so will try again later.
So far we have: Jannie - received Moonrise – received Bkay Mmonohon Bullock2us Bonniekeller81 GracefulAnn Susanna10 |
Hi! I'm in for 8 bags of 10 per bag, mostly matching, but not all. I can get 5 or six off fabric on hand so not all will be alike, but all have kiddie fabric! Half way finished cutting... when I finish I'll PM to officially sign up!
Thanks for hosting! hugs, dj |
OK y'all. I'm in for one set of 8 and I hope I didn't screw it up! All are fun prints, mostly brights one or two subdued and only one licensed print (Hello Kitty) per bag. All the bags are the same with the required 10 fabrics each. I'm looking forward to receiving mine and I hope to have tops made by the end of the summer so wish me luck!
rbweise thanks for hosting! Make sure to check my bags please!!! Hugs, Graceful Ann |
djmat glad to have you join us - we have several new swappers this go round - so glad to have all!
|
gracefulann, it sounds like your bags will be great. I try to give all a quick check, count for correct amounts etc.
Will be looking forward to all of the squishies arriving, it is fun to see all of the cute fabrics. |
I love that you call them squishies. May we call you Dory? (Finding Nemo ref) lol
|
Sent PM for 8 sets of 10 per set all cut & packaged. Hope y'all like them!
hugs, dj |
Gracefulann, I picked "squishies" up from someone here, don't remember who though. However it kinda describes the Flat Rate padded envelopes!
And djmat, your sets sound great. Will be looking for them to arrive. Some of you may not know, but I will be in TX visiting family from July 24 until Aug 10 or so. Andy will be here to get the packages from the mail until I get back. He flies to Seattle the day I return to visit with a cousin who has a vacation house on one of the islands. Then he flies home via San Francisco to visit our son and DIL. So we are covering the miles this summer. Our list is: Jannie - received Moonrise – received Bkay Mmonohon Bullock2us Bonniekeller81 GracefulAnn Susanna10 Djmat |
Gratitude.
More aware of what you have than what you don't. Recognizing the treasure in the simple - a child's hug, fertile soil, a golden sunset. Relishing in the comfort of the common. Friends, Happy 4th of July! The gift of our nation is often taken for granted. Let’s be people more aware of what we have than what we don’t. Max Lucado |
Amen to that! Thank you for the reminder. <3

I'm in again! I'll have at least two sets, and a friend is sending another two sets (did compare and none of the fabrics were duplicated in our different sets).
I might make up another set, it will just depend on what time I have and what I feel like doing on my nights. Looking forward to seeing what everyone sends this round! |
My squishes are on their way to TN! Have fun ladies!
|
Is it too late to join this swap? I have been collecting fat quarters for I Spy quilts and thought it would be fun to get more. I am going to see if I can come up w/the 8 bags of 10 fabrics required and if I am able would like to join.
Thanks. |
Glad to have you minibarn and sleepyhollow and friend! FQ's are great to get started in I Spy's because, unless the prints need fussy-cutting you can usually get 12 cuts from one.
minibarn, please PM me and I will send you my mailing address. Rena |
Are there 14 swappers? This swap is so much fun!
