Quilt Blocks for Marty
#92
Here is my block for Marty. Since she loves hummingbirds I thought I would make a block with one.
This is the first quilt block I've ever given to somebody to put in a quilt. I hope it is okay.
I promise it is square, I had to take it outside to get a picture and the best place was on the back of our swing, which makes it look a little wonky shaped.

Beautiful blocks..I love them all.Kris, that hummingbird is awesome. And kellie I can't believe it is your first Dresden plate...did you make it using the MO quilt company tutorial?
Robyn, I am not sure if you found the answer to you question, but I have before used the applique stitching as quilting, and it works just fine, especially on small projects. You can sandwich the block and then stitch your applique pieces with a satin or whatever stitch you are using, it actually makes for nice quilting on the back, and it may be the only quilting you have to do depending on your block.
I pieced my block yesterday and have it sandwiched, will quilt if today and in the mail it goes tomorrow.

Thank you so much everyone for the kind words on my first dresden.....the mistake that I DID make was it is too big, it comes too close to the edges of the 12" background, so off to the sewing room I go to make another one and in shorter blades. Will post the new one when I have it finished..
Yes, Candi, I used the MSQC tutorial, although I have had the ruler for months and have just been looking for an opportunity to use it!!!

Ok, reworked the block...On my other block the points of the plate would have been cut off when the blocks were sewn together. Please everyone remember to leave at least 1/2" space around the whole block for putting together.

I feel so bad.
As alot of you know, I am having major vision problems as a result of diabetes and I can not sew at this time.
would anyone be willing and able to make a block for Marty for me I would pay you or provide the supplies what ever is needed..
Just send me a PM, I am limited on the computer EYE Strain.
But I will answer you.
Thanks so much.
