I prefer regular bed size. It's not bad to do each row, only 6" or so at a time.

Actually I would like to join a ROW ROBIN lap quilt about 65-inches wide by 80-inches long (size not written in stone!). Each member of the RR would make 6-in or 8-inch or 9-inch blocks to fit across the quilt. If the measurements did not exactly line up, a spacer or floater or two could be used. Since each participant makes one row, the RR lap quilt could accommodate ten to twelve members. With a ROW ROBIN each member makes the same width (say 65-inches), unlike a Round Robin where the rounds get bigger and bigger as the borders are added. And, would the ROBIN have a theme? Flowers? Traditional Blocks? Paper Pieced? Applique? Just a thought.

I don't care to do a wall hanging and I have never paper pieced. I could try pp if I was the odd ball. You all decide and tell me what to do and when to do. it. It will be fun and exciting. Thanks, Jackie

I sent karielt a copy of the "guidelines" that are being used for the current round robin. That is NOT to say anyone should use those...its just for ideas and somewhere to start.

I might recommend to you all that you do a Row Robin right now. Another member already described it well. There were a couple done here on the board a couple of years ago and they turned out great!

I'm sure there will be a IRR3 offered at the end of the summer after the current one ends. I'm not sure that I will host it...but somebody will I'm sure.

I'll just say go for it...have fun and if I can help...PLEASE let me know! I can't participate since I'm currently doing 4 groups..but I'd love to watch!

I haven't paper pieced yet either. I bought a little kit with a few basic blocks that I was going to try out, but I still haven't done it. I think I would be too scared to try it and have it be on some one else's quilt.

amma did a really good paper piecing tute here for the board. You could always try it out and if you like it use it for a start for your own center or 1st row...whatever you all decide to do...

So whos in charge and how do we start. Row robin sounds fun.. My friend is in one and each row is different one applique, the next triangles we could do something like that and we could try 1 row of something different and see if we like it. I too like larger sizes I like to use what I make.

If no one else wants to be in charge, I guess I will. I can't do anything until monday I will try and work on something this weekend. I have to okay every thing with the cordinator and I will limit it to the first 11 who sign up. If someone else wants to start it please feel free to jump in as I have never done this before

i look forward to hearing from the volunteer coordinator so we can review proposed rules and procedures before this Round Robin is formally announced. :-)

if oodles of people sign up, you can also consider proposing more than one RR to run at the same time (each with its own coordinator) instead of asking one coordinator to manage more than one group within the same RR.

one person can sign up for more than one RR, but i'm inclined to discourage any more RRs that have more than one group. otherwise, we risk running our volunteer coordinators into exhaustion and insanity. ;-)

other than the rules posted at the top of the swaps section, i have also found it best to make sure volunteer coordinators have been active members for at least 3 months.

party on, dudes and dudettes! :-)
