My math skills aren't the greatest, but am wondering how this works out... If some people do a square for each person who signs up, and others only do 12 (or 20 or whatever), how will it work out that the people who do a square for each person also receive that many different squares back? Could we be getting a bunch of our own squares back, or multiples from the same person?

  I've figured out what I was doing wrong.
I was trimming the seam allowance BEFORE I pressed the corners back.

I tried a square by flipping my corner back on itself to create the little triangle corner (making sure the corner was square),then I pressed it, then gently folded it back out , THEN I trimmed.
Came out a perfect 3.5"!
Since then, I've completed 10 perfect little squares. :D
Sometimes I scare myself by not thinking (or thinking too hard!)
Oh well, guess I learned something after all.
Thanks for the help!

Gosh everyone is getting in the groove doing siggie blocks at a rapid rate! I'm just off to my LQS today to see if they have some plain white. I have never noticed any there before - not that I have ever looked for it.

I am hoping to do a block for each participant- providing I don't need a Santa Sack to send them all!

No matter what I try, it just doesn't come out to 3.5" square.
I get 3.25" on some, and 3.5" on the others.
My white squares are 3.5" exactly, but when I sew on the corner squares and turn them over to press, something is messing up.
Is everybody measuring EACH square?
I'm about ready to give up. Any other ideas?
HELP!!!!!!!!
Try cutting your squares larger -- maybe as much as a 1/4". You can always trim the final block to the correct size. :D

Thanks !

I plan to have a square for each one participant. To start I cut 36 white squares plus I have some left over Robyn Pandolph fabric, one is green floral the other is a yellow floral...looks pretty with the white center! I need a new fabric pen, always a reason to shop...

I've contacted admin about numbering the users registered for the swap, he is looking into putting a total number of users on the page. I'll keep you posted.

You are correct, if there are swappers that don't make enough for the entire group you will of course receive either some of yours back or duplicates from someone else. I hoping that everyone does enough for everyone, with the blocks being so simple that goal will be doable. I'll do my best to get you the greatest number of different blocks.

This sounds like fun! I'm in! how many people so far? How many blocks to do?

Why do we need a fabric pen? Are we supposed to sign every block?
