I put my blocks on point because fits the design and now not enough background fabric to finish it. Bummer, now what to do what to do. This is the problem with UFOs, you wait so long then can't find the fabric in the store anymore. Lesson learned. Now to improvise or rip.

Most of us have heard of humility or humble blocks. The story goes that Amish women introduce an error into their quilts because “only God can/should make something perfect”. It keeps one humble. To my surprise, when researching it for this blog post, I read on several websites that this is a myth. When asked about it, one Amish woman said that she makes enough mistakes without introducing them. Another said that just assuming that you need to purposely make an error or else your quilt would be perfect is a type of arrogance in itself.
All the same, I enjoy this myth. When I make a more-visible-than-usual error, I chalk it up to my humility block. And move on.

Humility block has segments in it that don't match ... the thought being that only God can make something perfect.

But this will be a purpose error and I don't want that. I make enough incidental errors, no need for purpose. Oh yeah, design choice that is it. I am making a design choice. I can live with that.

Donna, It's black and blue...don't think it's your eyes.
My pic didn't turn out very good. I'll try to post a better one.

Hey ladies!! Wonderful DQ's showing up on here. BJolly and I decided to wait and mail at the same time. Poor BJolly. Here's my story. DH and I decided to move, less than a month ago. Well, we moved. After 30 years in the same home. Anyway, I decided to still do the swap, well lets face it, I COULDN"T miss a month. Anyway, I got my top done. Took it upstairs, at the old house, to press it. Next night was gonna finish it up, but I couldn't find it. It had somehow made it's way to the new place. I have a wonderful room to quilt in at the new house, but it is not organized in any way shape or form!! But, I WILL FIND IT!! I have had to work every day, while moving, so DH and kids are doing the moving. I am going to do a good search when I get home tonight and if I don't find it, I will make another. The material is still sitting in the same box that I was keeping separate for my sewing. Too bad the DQ didn't stay put. LOL At any rate, I will finish mine up and mail by Monday. Promise.
