Default Summertime Block Swap/ Signups open until March 30th

This is a Summertime Block Swap with the block sets in sets of Four. (Up to Five sets per swapper) 20 Blocks maximum.

The signups are open now and will close March 30th, 2017. The deadline to have them here to me is April 30th. I will mail them back out swapped by the 20th of May or sooner if possible. That will give us time to put a finished piece together before Summer to display. LOL!

The swap is open to all levels of quilters. Please do use 100 percent good quality COTTON fabrics that are prewashed. I understand that if you are using pre-cuts (jellyrolls, charm packs) that is impossible. Just let me know when you send the blocks so I can advise the reciever (s).

Please make your blocks before you sign up for this swap. To re-cap ... The signups will close on March 30th and the blocks should be to me by the assigned deadline (April 30th) or unfortunantly they will have to be returned to you unswapped. This is very sad but, has happened.

I am happy for you to send them to me as early as you wish to. Finishing early has it's rewards. LOL! Please pm (personal message) me and I will give you the address of where to mail them.

Please send me a detailed pm to sign up for the swap. I can miss any members trying to let me know they want to sign up on the board swap thread pretty easily.

The finished block size can be any size block divisible by threes. Don't forget the seam allowances!! Please! So the smallest 6 inch finished block would be a 6 1/2 by 6 1/2 Unfinished and so on. (The size of a send- in block will have the half inch seam allowances included ) For example...

The send in unfinished sizes can be 6 1/2" sq., 9 1/2" sq. or 12 1/2" sq. (These sizes all work well together. They are all divisible by the same number.)

The max sized block is 12 1/2" x 12 1/2" . The smallest block I will except is 6 1/2" sq.

Please do not send just a cut piece of fabric as a block. It won't count towards your block sets and would have to be returned to you.

*This swap will be for sets of four (4) blocks. The limit is 5 sets per swapper. 20 Blocks maximum.

The 5 sets do not have to be all the same. Each set should be the same. Although, different fabrics can be used in each set if you are going scrappy. And it is possible that you will not get the exact same sizes back that you sent in. Also, please note, you will not be getting any of your blocks back, I will be swapping out all of them. So if you wish to have one of your blocks, please make extra for yourself. But, if for some reason you do get one of yours back, please do not be upset. It has happened in the past. I will do my best.

Place the block sets into a plastic baggie marked with your board name, Real name and address. And, how many sets you've sent in. (I will confirm this with you upon their arrival.) I will use these again to send back to you. Then attach your board name to each block in a secure way. Either pin or sew.

The block images can be anything associated with the Summertime and Summer Holidays. We will be using any colored backgrounds you wish for this swap. Dark, medium or lights... Which ever you think goes best with your images. Remember backgrounds are 100 per cent cotton!

There are many summertime (or summertime holiday) images and blocks available on the web, or make something up on your own. Embroidered blocks work too! Lets have some fun with this and have some great blocks to share with each other!

Just remember, if you are doing applique, you must sew it to the blocks in such a way that it is washable later. You can't just iron it on.

*Mail your block sets to me in a priority flat rate envelope using only a postage stamp (stamps)on both the return envelope and the main envelope by April 15th. That should ensure that I have received them by the deadline on the 30th. There has been a problem with the post office accepting the pre-metered envelopes, and I would hate to have your envelope held up because of expired postage. So please use a stamp!

Inside... Place a return envelope, self addressed flat rate priority in with the postage stamp (s) attached along with your baggie of marked block sets. Address it to yourself and use your address as the return. That way there is no question where it is coming back to.

With a US Post Office flat rate envelope we don't have any problems returning them to you and assures you receive them back promptly.

Please Note ***The metered envelopes are a problem, as the date will expire and not be any good by the time they are mailed back out. I can not be responsible for any postage due. I am on an extremely tight budget at the moment. Your blocks would be delayed getting back to you as you would have to send me the postage again to mail to you.

* I will mail them back out to you by may 20th at the very latest.

Should you have any questions or problems please contact me by pm. A person can opt out if there is a problem with getting the blocks here to swap on time. Life sometimes gets busy and unexpected things can come up. I understand.

Please read all the general swap rules of the board, these also apply to this swap. They are located on the top of the swap board written by the administration. Or, here is the link ...

http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-20154-1.htm

~~The rules had to be posted, but now to the fun stuff!!

Lets share our blocks when they are finished and talk about our blocks till the swap is done on this swap thread. That really makes the swap fun for all and gives you a chance to get to "know" each other a little better. Swapping is a social event after all and oh so fun.

Come on Everyone let's have some Summer Time fun in the cold days of winter. Lets see what blocks you can all come up with to celebrate the summer months.

Okay ladies, it's been at least a year since we've had a themed block swap. I am new to hosting a block swap and hope you will be patient with me. I will do my very best. I hope you will come on a Summertime adventure with me. I am working on my blocks right now. And, hope I will have something to share with you very soon.

Here is a quilt using swap blocks that I received in a Summertime block swap back in 2011.

I'm kind of flustered that it is still not completely finished. It needs a border and I still haven't quite figured that out.

Oh Boy! Thanks judith for hosting this swap. I will join in the fun with you. I have a couple things already rolling around in my head to make. This should shake away the winter blues working on summertime blocks.

This sounds like fun. I will see if I can join in. I haven't done a swap like this before.

I have been busy today picking out blocks to make and have done an early fabric pull. I hope to be able to start cutting tomorrow. I really needed to clear off my cutting table and sewing machine area with a different project that is in progress at the moment. But, some of the blocks I've chosen shouldn't take that long to whip up.

This sounds interesting, I'll have to see what I can find that would be appropriate.

A question about one of your blocks... What is in the tree above the camp tent? It's a cute block. (They're all cute, but that one stands out to me.)

Sleepy Hollow, Yes, at the bottom of the tree is a tent and all the little birdies in the trees are wearing stuff that you would wear camping. I did not make that block. It is very cute indeed. I was very happy to receive it.
