I have house cleaners that come every 2 weeks to do my major cleaning, but they DO NOT touch my sewing room. I clean it up after each project so I can get my mind into the next one. I have a Bissell 3 in 1 stick vac that I can't live without. I have raved about this little thing on other treads, it is only about $15 at Walmart.

I pick up after every project, putting away the leftovers, cutting up scraps and then vac. If I have a lot of threads on carpet (due to prologed ripping with Mr. Ripper), then I use one of the sponges that you buy to pick up pet hair. Then I vac and dust. I finished a quilt top last night. So that's what I am doing next.

I tidy up after I finish for the day in mine and clean it thoroughly every 2 weeks, I do not work well in clutter plus I have to share the room with my grandson's play area for his video games so I try to keep my mess under control.

I try to sweep the floor every time I use the room esp. if I have a lot of threads all over the floor. I figure it's not good for my pets to get those thread strings in their gut if they put in their mouth and swallow. Then it could be a big problem for them.

Although my sewing room is small I can still have my sewing table in two different places. So in the winter its against an inner wall with my back to the window, and in the summer its against the window wall so I can look out at our plants and the birds. Of course I like the summer spot the best!

I take several days to clean when I am done with time crunch projects. Right now I am trying to get six quilt ready for our quilt show next Saturday, and when they are done, I will take a few days to strighten and vac the quilting area. My area is my basement, two rooms, one for sewing and the other has my long arm.

I do a quick clean up after each project, but that means I just put away all the fabric in no particular order and get out what I need for the next project. What I need to do is a thorough cleaning and sort through/organize my fabric again. My sewing studio is large and is also what seems to be the main entrance into our home - NO ONE uses the front door. Things (like sleeping bags from our last camping trip and boxes that need to be recycled, etc.) get stored in the room "temporarily" and it drives me nuts! When I am tempted to whine and complain too much, I tell myself how lucky I am to have all this space and just go with the flow. :)
