CindyA and all; Pretty much that is the way my dinning room table looks. I have two rooms of storage upstairs, not all quilting stuff.

Suits me,

My DH was so creative when he did my sewing room, he went to the local 'Restore', habitat for humanity's retail branch, (we are on fixed incomes and they have very low prices.) and bought upper and lower kitchen cupboards and drawers and installed them in our third bedroom so I have more storage in there now than I do in my kitchen. this has created a new problem though, fabric addiction satisfaction....lol!

I also use the dining room table for sewing and cutting. My husband is building a cabinet for me that will hold my sewing machine and serger, and then I'll move into the guest room to sew.

I'm so excited - it's going to look like this:

Well I meant to post more before I hit enter, oh well. The cabinet I got off Craigs List and the Ironing table is actually a Baby's dressing table. My hubby redid it to be an ironing board, with storage!! Love my little area.

I use to sew in my dining room but out lived it. That is why I am in the process of making my very own space that I can shut off to the world. No one will know or see all my stuff all over...LOL...

When I first started sewing, I used the dining table. It was okay because I had no stash. I would buy just enough fabric for one quilt at a time. Then my daughter moved out and I used the spare bedroom. My kids came home quite often, so I only had a corner of the room. Years went by and my kids moved farther away and came home less often, so I gave away the bedroom set and took over the entire spare room. Now my stash runneth over. I don't have a free inch left. The kids sleep on the couch, after complaining "How could you kick us out of the room" and me saying "You come home twice a year, get over it". Now I'm looking at houses to buy that have a big family room for my quilting room. I've outgrown the spare bedroom! I've found some that have built-in cupboards even!

Started out using the DR table to cut, then to store buckets of stash under, then the chairs.... Need I continue. Now the whole room is MINE. Oh I do let the DH use the computer in there since he pulled up the carpeting and laid down hardwood floors, then built three walls of cabinets with drawers.....
It sits off the kitchen and the living room and is not always an unsightly mess (HA) but I can walk away and not worry about picking up when finished for the day. We are two pet parents, so no need for worrying about guests. Only guests who ever get to see are quilting buddies and they tatally support my add er habit er hobby.
Love to all on this site who inspire and comfort me.

Dining Sewing

I sure do. I have a dedicated sewing room, but I normally have more than one project going at a time. SO, since I'm a guilt free sewer (divorced, grown kids) I can do what I want with my home.. AND of course since it IS the dining area, I recommend Chocolate and Wine with your sewing.

when i came off the road and back home, i bought a storage shed to turn into a sewing room. Then family moved in and it is a storage shed, never got to be a sewing room. one day they will leave. maybe.
so i am in a small bedroom, it is sufficient i guess. more than i had when i was on the road.

I was in a 8x28 travel trailer. had 3 machines with me. the majority of my cutting, pinning, basting and sewing was done on the picnic tables in the rv parks. that was wild and alot of fun.

now i may wind up back on the road. the job market here is really bad, i may wind up back with my old company traveling and working again. i think i've rested enough for it to be fun again.
