If you can't think how to reuse them, recycle them, or give them away....please trash them. Hoarders disease is painful, unsightly, and dangerous to your health.

There is a few fun ways shown on this site. I like the one to put a small amount of shampoo in one, it would make it a quick and easy way to bring my shampoo to the pool. http://www.diyncrafts.com/11126/repu...y-pill-bottles

And I love the cat toy idea. And I got ideas for other uses. I wonder if I could put extra sewing machine feet in individual containers and label them? |

Hi Lynnie, Don't know where on Long Island you're located, but Whole Foods recycles script bottles (if there is a 5 on the bottom) It's part of the Gimmie 5 recycling program. I usually do a run there every couple of months to recycle script bottles and yogurt containers. There was also an organization that collected donated bottles The Malawi Project, Inc. 3314 Van Tassel Drive Indianapolis, IN 46240 |
We take shampoo to the pool but not to use in the pool of course. We use it when we shower in the locker room after the pool. I'm sure that is what you meant

I have thrown many things that I do not need away over the years. I do not have hoarders' disease. Trust me. Jimmy is the pack rat in our family. These are just three little pretty bottles. Most of his vitamins come in boring white bottles. I did start putting empty bobbins in one. For now the other two will wait until I get a massive idea. Buttons is a good one.

If you are talking about the short, most often amber colored plastic containers our prescriptions come in, then I have an idea for us all. The vastly underdeveloped country of Malawi in Africa is in desperate need of these containers. Medicine is scarce and apparently containers to dispense medicines are almost non-existent. So if you want to take the time to participate in getting all the empty containers where they are needed, Google something like "plastic pill bottles for Africa" and you will see what I mean. I have done this for a long time and I feel pretty good about keeping the plastic out of landfills and helping others.

UPDATE: This program is ended. The people who started it were so successful in their effort they are overloaded with pill containers. Sorry. Can anyone else think of anything charitable and useful for these containers?
