If you are talking about the short, most often amber colored plastic containers our prescriptions come in, then I have an idea for us all.

I used to be able to take my bottles back to the Pharmacy to get them refilled, but no more of that.
We used to be able to send left over prescriptions to the missions. Can't do that anymore. But we do have recycling now. I have been putting our pill bottles into recycling for a good number of years. I'm surprised no one else talked about that. I see some very nice uses for the bottles on this thread, but some just don't make sense. I think I would have bottles here and there and forget where they all where. LOL Stashing cash around is not a good idea. What if the house burns? I have just one place where I may keep a little extra cash in the house, but not much. I feel that if a thief found that, they might be satisfied and not kill me! ! ! Besides, it's only money. There are more important things in life. I see that the 30 uses for pill bottles mentions putting candy into the bottles. DO NOT DO THIS. We were told that is a disaster waiting to happen. Children have to know for sure that what is in that bottle is not for them. And even adults can be confused and take too many pills, thinking it is candy. Have fun with your bottles. I will be looking into saving them for Africa. (OOps! I guess we can't do that anymore. I should talk to my local vet or send them to Indianapolis.) |

Emergency kit for quilters poem

[QUOTE=toverly;7831760]You could "recycle" them by making the "Quilter's Medicine" . Fill with M&M's and print a label with the poem. I saw it on here somewhere. But didn't write it down.
I know this is not the quilter's medicine poem , but it is similar and may work for your bottles. |
One more thing. Putting just enough pills in them for a trip sounds great, but if you go by plane, that needs to go into checked luggage. Any pills in your carry-on need to be in original containers.

I remove the label, then give mine to the local animal shelter when I have a bunch. They sometimes dispense meds with newly adopted pets and getting the donated med bottles saves them a little money. You might check in your area.

No, these are not from prescriptions, but from vitamins. They are 4 1/2 inches tall, and as big around as a half dollar. Thanks for the input though.
