My fabric stash has been in chaos for ages and needed some serious 'sorting'!! My special friend Izy has spent the last 3 days working her magic.......and I am thrilled with the results!!!! We have had such a fun time sorting scraps from yardage, crumbs from fat quarters and finding long forgotten UFO's!!!!!! Izy you are such an inspiration and I can't wait to get started making LOTS of scrap quilts!!!!!! Watch this space!!!!!

Sewfine 03-11-2012 02:41 PM

Nicely organized. Love the picture quilt on the wall.

CoventryUK 03-11-2012 02:48 PM

I just have to re-organise my books then all my boxes can go back in my sewing room, then the fun can begin!!

wraez 03-11-2012 02:51 PM

If I had the extra cash I would send Izy a ticket to CA to help me with organizing my sewing room, stash etc! Oh heck, both of you could come and make a week of it.

Trust me Hilary I was in my element...having OCD tendencies....(or is that CDO as I have to have everything in order :P) really has it's benefits!!

Thank you for making me so welcome in your lovely home, it has been a very special weekend, culminating in a trip to a quilt show on Saturday!!! Fantastic! :D :D :D

I can't wait to see what you make now you can see at a glance what you have to play with!! Rev that machine up and go girl!! :D

Oh I am up for a fabric bribe any day!! ;P :D

orangeroom 03-12-2012 12:51 AM

I suppose my 'Izy' was the removal of my gallbladder last August. I was home, and my fabric cabinet was close by calling my name. It took me a few days, but I organized it. I was able to nap in between. Nothing cleans out a house full of children quicker than a sick parent and fabric organization!!!!

What a nice friend you have in Izy!

Painiacs 03-12-2012 02:08 AM

What a great friend! We all need an Izy!!!

SunlitenSmiles 03-12-2012 03:27 AM

She makes it such fun!! I felt so overwhelmed at the thought of it.....but she made it 'do-able'!!!! I'm now fired with enthusiasm to re-arrange my sewing room in a more 'organised' way!!!!

Hey that may just be the new direction in life I am looking for since losing John. Over here we had a long running popular programme called...'How clean is your house' where a couple of ladies came in and got the house straight with lots of tips on keeping on top etc....maybe I need to make a 'How organised is your stash?' programme to help all quilters who have become overwhelmed with their stash get to grips! LOL :D :D :D

coopah 03-12-2012 05:54 AM

:thumbup:What a stash and what a terrific friend! Some folks make money (I mean, serious money!!) for organizing like that. Izy could turn her fun into profit. Not that she probably wants to...but I'm just sayin'.

Dotha 03-12-2012 06:08 AM

I have an Izy but she is a dog...she rarely makes organizing anything easy! But I love her anyway.

What a great friend you have to help you organize. Now that you can see what you have, I bet you can't wait to get started sewing some quilts.

It is such a long trip from UK to California; I think they need a stopover for a week in Houston!

Great job!

Lori S 03-12-2012 03:16 PM

I think I could use some Izy in my stash.. How do you feel about Chicago!?!

LeslieFrost 03-12-2012 04:35 PM

You are both so lucky to have each other to do this with! I absolutely HATE doing this kind of thing by myself, but LOVE doing it with someone else.

When I was getting ready to retire and had to clean out 7 years worth of books, conference materials and other junk, I just could not do it alone. So I had rotating interns come in, each for a couple of hours, just to talk to me while I went through the stuff and sorted. I also made them haul the bags of trash out! It was the only way I could have gotten it done.

nitza 03-12-2012 04:37 PM

We could get her a rail pass once she gets to the states, then she can stop off and organize us all, 8-)

bepositive 03-12-2012 05:51 PM

How nice to have such a wonderful friend!!! :) :) :) :)

I met Hilary here through the QB!! We live 80 miles apart, takes me 2 hours on the train! but we talk via the internet every day! Hilary doesn't need to do anything special for me, as she does that already by being there for me. Especially through the last year of anguish as my DH John was losing his battle with terminal cancer...I couldn't have asked for more support, so if I can help her in any way then I will, hence the fabric sorting! That said, I DID enjoy ALL the time spent with both Hilary and her husband, they are two very special people who made me so very welcome, I feel like I have known both of them much longer than I really have! :D :D :D
