Yesterday I moved stuff around to clear the far section of the floor, and this morning I removed the baseboards and started ripping up carpet. Got three 2' sections removed (I'm cutting the old carpet in strips to make removing it easier). Got the pad and staples removed so all that is left is a good vacuuming and we can start laying the new flooring. DH said we'll get it done this weekend, so it won't be long before I can move furniture to where it belongs and finish unpacking!

I may be able to start sewing next week!

Sounds like you are making great progress!

A suggestion for whichever of you is doing the vinyl install...make sure you have kneepads! Use the gel or fabric covered ones - not the hard plastic outer. We had to end up replacing several planks because the hard shell type scratched the vinyl!

Good luck!

Sounds amazing! Congratulations!

Got the floor installed on Friday and finished up Saturday morning. Then made a run back to the old place for more packing. Made another trip on Sunday and this time was able to load up some of my vintage sewing cabinets. Did not want to bring them until the floor was in.

I've got the cutting table and ironing station set up, and I'm about ready to get the sewing station set up and then I can finally unpack my main sewing machines! They've been packed up for almost a month and I'm so looking forward to being able to sew again.

I don't have my computer set up at home yet. We have internet but don't know if the wireless will be strong enough to reach to my sewing room. If not we'll get a booster. And then I'll be able to upload some pictures!

I'm still kind of in shock that this is all happening.

DH and I went on vacation in October, and when we got home I said I was glad to be home, just wished home was somewhere else. And DH agreed with me. So we decided to explore some options for moving much closer to where I work (I'm 84 miles from the office). We must have both been thinking about it but feeling the other wasn't interested - so we didn't bring it up.

Two criteria was enough room for my sewing (including LA) and a big garage for DH. We found a small house with a big 30x30 attached garage -with a full MIL suite above the garage.

The MIL suite has a big bedroom that is the perfect size for my LA, a nice walk in closet that is perfect for stash storage, a bathroom with a stack washer/dryer (if I wanted them), The other side is almost fully open, 17x27 - with some kitchen cabinets along the wall at one end. This is big enough I can even display my vintage sewing machines!

We put in an offer on Tuesday and it was accepted, with closing set for Dec 23rd. We aren't going to sell our current home until after we've moved out. We currently have a homestead with 40 acres so there is still going to be lots of downsizing.

We are moving to a small town (2,000 residents) so we figured it might take months to find a home that would be suitable, but it took two days. The home has been on a market a long time as not many people wanted something like that.

- after we got back from vacation and before deciding to move, I dug out a long time UFO crazy quilt and decided to finally get all the blocks made. It's a dream quilt I was making for myself but figured I'd never have a room to use it as I already have the perfect quilt for my current bedroom (burgundy and gold). But now that we are moving, my crazy quilt will be perfect for the bedroom in the new home!

I'm having a hard time sleeping at night, I keep waking up and thinking about how I'll put my cutting table and sewing machines - and part of me keeps thinking I'm just dreaming about a dream studio - not that I'm really going to have one.

Can't wait to see photos. Your space sounds amazing.

Don't know how I missed this thread before today, but I am so excited to see pictures when you are all settled in. For someone with a tiny sewing room, your new space sounds like pure heaven. Looking forward to hearing and seeing more about it. Congratulations on your new home.

Me too! Always fun to see what you get accomplished; knowing your and dh's skills and work ethic, I'm anxiously awaiting the next photos to see how it's all coming together.

DH and I have been concentrating on getting the old place cleaned and ready to go on the market. Put in another two long days this weekend and the house is finally done. There is still stuff in the out buildings to deal with but that can wait until we've got a buyer if needed.

I did manage to clean off my cutting table last weekend. We had bad weather on Sunday so no trip to the old place. I pulled out a project to work on, a block of the week I started last year and didn't keep up on. I made sure to print out all the patterns and had them in a binder - I looked and looked and could not find that binder anywhere! I went through everything in the sewing studio multiple times! Totally took the wind out of my sails for sewing.

Got to talking to DH about it later that evening and told him I was sure I had it somewhere - because I'd had to reprint a few of the pages as I'd got the scale off - and the last place I saw it was on the table in the Den . . . Turns out DH had just taken everything off that table and put it in a box and it was still in the box in the new family room as we've not got that all set up yet. I sure was glad to find my binder! But then it was too late to get any sewing done.

I do need to take pictures - but I'm not sure where my camera is!

Glad it's not just me that has days like that! I know how I can get side tracked too and finally feel worn out before I get to start what I intended. Moving and settling in does take time. It will all happen, eventually! Our daughter is looking at homes (her first purchase), and she's in an area where there are a lot more buyers than sellers. So frustrating for her, as her current rental situation is not the best. Hope it all falls into place for her and we can help her move this year and get into "her" place!

We did have some rough blizzard weather, too, and got about another 5 or 6 inches yesterday. Getting anxious for spring weather to get here!

Hope your find that camera, too!
