Getting there.... redo of sewing room

We moved here 16 months ago after our kids all left home and I am so fortunate to have a room dedicated to sewing. I am finally making it all mine. Just got it repainted last week from a dark brown to a nice sky blue. Just the color makes such a difference. It is so calming to come into a room and feel like the sky is all around you! Have one more picture to put on the wall, and some kind of decoration over the fabric. Waiting on a Gidget table to make the sewing surface even and I will be all ready to start sewing again. Right now it's nice just to sit in the corner and relax. Have so many projects ready to do!!

Your room is lovely with the blue paint. I'm so happy for you that you have your own space for relaxing and sewing. I finally took over one room by putting a large desk in my DH's tv room. He had been telling me to do it for quite a while. I haven't decided on a color yet. Since I really like your blue - it looks so fresh and cheerful, maybe I'll consider blue. Happy sewing and relaxing. :):):)

Where did you get your CD towers from? I have been looking but hadn't seen any that tall

kay carlson 11-12-2012 06:42 AM

How inviting and peaceful.... You will have many hours of pleasure in this beautiful room! I especially liked the color on the walls, as well as, the plates and items you love. Just seeing your haven encourages me to go to my special to my dedicated area to walk on the treadmill and then sew. Aren't we fortunate?! Thanks for sharing....

I love your room. Especially like your little reading/relaxing corner. Looks so peaceful with the warm blue & soft lighting. I to was wondering if you built your fabric towers or you bought them somewhere. Would you mind sharing that info?

I got the idea of the fabric in the CD towers from online and I think I saw it on someone's pinterest. These are from IKEA. I found some on Craigslist, but they were sold before I got to them, so I just ended up going to IKEA for new ones and got the white ones I wanted.

Those caught my eye as well - what a cool idea! Mine are all hidden and so frustrating pulling boxes of them and not finding the right piece. The room looks so peaceful and inspiring. Enjoy!

Your room is SO lovely - that's a dream for me! Like many others, I like your idea of using the CD towers - can you put larger pieces of fabric in them as well, like a 2 - 3 yard piece?

annthreecats 11-13-2012 01:20 PM

What a great space to create in and so neat. Enjoy.
