Gotta love Craigslist!!

I've been following this organization board forever. We're finally building our new garage and it's going to have a bonus room above it that will be my quilting studio. My "Garottage"! It's not even going to be started until this fall but I'm so excited (AND impatient!!). Anyway, I've been reading the threads about fabric storage, right now my stash is on comic book boards in clear totes sorted by color. When I have my room I wanted to get cabinets like "upper" kitchen cabinets. I'd read the thread about not wanting them too deep. I thought about bookshelves but I wanted doors - - Anyway, look what I scored on Craigslist! I can't wait to get them in my room and filled with my fabric! They're 8 feet high and combined 10 feet wide. About 12" deep. That's 80 square feet of storage for my stash!!! I can't wait!! Just HAD to share!

Stitchit123 07-01-2014 03:06 AM

I better start watching Craigslist. I'm going out next week to look at the insides of a couple properties. Both have one very large bedroom that will make great sewing rooms once cabinetry is installed.

oldtnquiltinglady 07-01-2014 12:58 PM

Such a cute name for your own private space. I love it. And you really did score on the cabinetry. I thought I did well with mine several years ago, but mine are all open shelves, and looks cluttered all the time because I don't have doors to shut it off. Even doors with windows would be better than what I have. But I can't handle all the makeover process, so I am going to just make do with what I have. Good luck, and do let us watch as you go along.

Great, just cover those glass doors with something...film, fabric etc. because the light WILL FADE your fabric. You'll get fade lines. Can't tell you how much fabric I've received from people that has been ruined from the light. I think they'll function fabulously.

wolph33 07-01-2014 04:42 PM

amazing score

Angel Bear 07-01-2014 05:00 PM

Those are perfect for fabric AND they are beautiful!

laurilli 07-02-2014 05:06 AM

Love the cabinetry.PS JoAnn- I only have open shelving also, but found some great curtains at a yard sale. Put them up with tension rods. It keeps the light from fading fabrics.

I LOVE Craigslist! So much so that practically every piece of furniture I have in my house came from there. That included the maple vanity I painted and put a piece of 4' X 4' melamine board on top of to turn it into a larger sewing table, the chest of drawers I got to put my denim and upholstery fabric in, a wall cabinet for my specialty threads and ribbon, and the sewing/craft table I have for my Featherweight. I paid a grand total of $110 for ALL of it! I check it every day to see if there is anything I need/want, and I wait until I find something in good shape at a reasonable price. It's da bomb!!! :D
