How do you store Accruquilt dies?
 

OK, I took the plunge and purchased the GO Big; now I am not sure how I should store the dies, especially the long ones that are about 24 inches long. Any suggestions? Is it ok to stack them on top of each other? Do they need to be stored flat or can they be stored on their edge?

Accuquilt says to store them on edge. There is a tiny edge label to read what the die is. I use a heavy wire file folder to add stability to the side storage.

For long dies, I have one of the wire racks from AQ. It is stored in a tall hamper with a lid. It keeps them dust free. A second hamper holds bolts of fabric and stabilizers.

I made labels for the dies with name and number. Easy to read from the top.

Other dies are stored in the cube boxes. They were previously stored in a large clear plastic bin.

I have been in the same sewing room for over 17 years. It well past the time to redo the flooring, and I finally bit the bullet and did it. I was surprised at how long it took me to empty the room of everything. I didn't think I would ever be ready for the floor installers. When it came time to put everything back I decided I would not be in a hurry. I would find a convenient spot for everything, and I would be well organized when I finished. The difference has made me wonder why I didn't do this job 10 years ago. I love my new flooring (from carpet to plank vinyl), and it is so amazing to work in a really organized spot.
Here is a picture of how I set up my GO Big and dies, and it is working great. I have a small room so it is not possible to keep my GO Big set up all the time. This way everything is in one place, and the different dies are real easy to locate. I love it!

What a wonderful way to store your dies. I am definitely going to look around and see if I can find something similar to your cabinet for mine. I had several of the AccuQuilt holders but found that they took up so much room for how few dies they stored. I have mine standing up like yours but I purchased foam board (thank you, dollar stores) to put in-between them to protect the blades.

I love this set up. It is so accessible. I bought my cabinet at Shopko and it was easy to set up. Your foam board idea seems like a good one, too. I am going to the dollar store now. I also absolutely am in love with my new floor. I only tried the plank vinyl because I couldn't find laminate that matched the rest of my floors. Now I am wishing they all were done in the plank vinyl. It is so easy to keep clean, no special cleaners needed, and I love the way it feels on my feet. Has enough of a grain like finish to not be slippery, too. What more could I ask for????

I store my 24in. long dies on the wire racks - it takes 2 racks, but I had them. And the smaller dies I have bought the storage boxes from Accuquilt. The dies are protected and I have a small sticky note on the outside that tells me what die is in what box. They are neat and I can stack other items on top it if I need to.

I don't have many but I put them in a drawer. Maybe they shouldn't be laying down like that? Does anyone know?
