Well, it's done. My new quilting table is in. It's organized, clean and I am pooped........LOL

The concept of my quilting table is the same as HQ's Sweet Sixteen setup, only larger.
Bailey's new table is 60" x 40", the bookcase is 29" x 15" and it's 30" high. My husband rounded off the one corner so I didn't take of half my hip running into it, plus is prevents the quilt top from catching on it.

We bought some crates from Micheal's, the big book case my husband made me last year. It holds my quilting books, magazines, my yarn and knitting stuff, and my cool red Bose Ipod dock sits on top.
I have storage under the table for my silver tubs filled with scraps of various sizes. The big blue tub is my UFO
storage (only 2 UFO's are in there) the quilt on the trunk is a top I bought at a church rummage sale for 50 cents.
I am hand tying that one.
The closet is an extra stash spot, it is my fleece stash. as well as a catch all on the other side...LOL
The antique hutch belonged to my husband's father. I think its a cool piece of furniture.
Don't panic Ladies!! The main horde of my fabric stash is in the other sewing room. I didn't want you to think I had gone off the deep end and lost my stash. It's safe......LOL

Enjoy the tour !!!

Great room. Love it when a quilter actually hangs quilts in her quilt room!

I made the fish one. And the small doll quilt I picked up at an antique shop.
Thanks for the compliment.

That's a fantastic room!
On the chair by the window, do I see a little pet bed for your quilt inspector?

Yes, you do!

Kola inspects everything and claims it as hers.

Lovely bright & cozy room. Looks very inviting. I am sure you will love creating in that space.

Pieces2 01-07-2013 05:58 AM

Glad you were able to get your room together. Time to make some quilts :)

bearland53 01-07-2013 05:58 AM

Looks great - a wonderful place to escape - What do I see outside the window? that dreaded 4 letter word - SNOW

coopah 01-07-2013 06:24 AM

That's a comfortable looking sewing room. I think you need to mess it up just a little. Go have fun sewing!

damaquilts 01-07-2013 08:26 AM

Everything looks wonderful. I know you will have a great time in that room.

Jingle 01-07-2013 09:09 AM

Thanks

Snow isn't such a bad 4 letter word. I like it, sure it's a mess to get around in. But around here it's welcomed. When it melts it seeps down to the aquifer where we get our water.

Chasing Hawk 01-07-2013 09:39 AM

Thanks everyone.

Today I have to get my main sewing room cleaned up. And I rearranged a couple of pieces of furniture in other parts of the house so that needs to be cleaned and put back together too.

Hopefully tomorrow I can get back to sewing before my machines think I abandoned them.

lots2do 01-07-2013 09:39 AM

Wow, great set-up. And not crammed with stuff. That's how I'd like my space to look someday.

Thanks, it looks that way because I am blessed with two rooms for my hobby(s). I can't work in a messy or cluttered work area.

I have two UFO's to finish.
This week I am making a fleece vest for my husband. The one where it zips up to cover your neck. And I am making myself I jacket to wear around the house made from leftover pieces of very colorful fleece.

I forgot to take pictures yesterday on the insert that allows the machine to be taken out. And the spool holder offset behind the machine.

cricket_iscute 01-07-2013 11:15 AM

What a spectacular setup, especially the desk! Good job! Regarding the desk, I'd like to know more about how you recessed the machine. Is there one solid piece of wood at the very bottom on which the machine sits and then a second piece of wood, with a cutout, on which the surface of the quilt moves? If not, then what did you do? Thanks!

Hi Cricket

The recessed part is 11" x 36" x 3 3/4". A smaller piece of material was cut just a little bit bigger than the bottom of the machine, the other thin board is there as a spacer to raise the machine to the proper height.

These pictures should give you a better idea on how this was done.

mjhaess 01-07-2013 04:36 PM

Nice room.....Bet you enjoy your time in there...thanks for sharing....

imnywoman 01-07-2013 06:59 PM

What a fabulous room, I love it!

nls 01-07-2013 07:10 PM

A very nice bright room--enjoy!

Chasing Hawk 01-07-2013 08:16 PM

Thanks Ladies. I am still hoping to get in at least one of my sewing rooms this week.
I still have two rooms of the house to clean. Now if Kola the cat could learn to clean as well as she naps and inspects quilts I would have it made...lol

FabricHeaven 01-07-2013 09:50 PM

I love your new quilting room! It is functional, pretty, light and cozy. You guys did a great job! Enjoy!!

Thank you so much! These pictures let me see that you used L brackets, which is a smart and relatively easy way to do it. I was making it too hard to do in my mind.

This is a wonderful room and great equipment. Congratulations on your fine job.

Your most welcome Cricket.
The edges are finished with a melamine tape that irons on. Gives it a really nice finished look.

Thanks for the compliment. The quilt pattern is called "School of fish" quilt. I got the pattern from Joann's, it comes with the templates needed to make it. It was really easy and fast to make. I may make a couple more.
