Just so I remember how it looked clean

I just finished up (almost) cleaning up my room, sorting out my fabric, measuring and wrapping fabric on comic book backings. I took a picture to show myself what it Should look like. LOL I still have to sort and cut up my scraps so it won't look like this for long. I should be finished by the end of the week. hopefully .
I got rid of a bunch of books that I hadn't looked at in years. I still need to sort through the rest of those. I have UFO's each in their own basket . I have mending in its own basket.I found a pair of jeans I had forgotten I bought that needed the hem taken down. . I am taking 2 boxes of things to Habitat or CHKD . Not sure which yet. Still have things I want to go through and re organize but I got the big part done I think.

Nice space. Speaking from someone who works at CHKD if you bring the stuff to us it is apprecitated by many. I like your thread racks.

CHKD it is then. :-) Its not far from the library and I usually stop in there on my way home.
The thread racks were collected over a period of time . Not long after I moved here I found a bunch in a thrift store for 2$ each I think or somewhere around that price. I just attached them to the wall touching each other.
OH for people thinking about doing the comic book boards ,,, That's 300 of them up there. :-)

Pat-w 02-29-2012 02:37 PM

Great job of organizing. What are the comic book boards....where do you find them and what's the cost?

Check out the thread from a couple of days ago where the comic book boards were discussed.

I bought the first bunch of Amazon for around $15 per 100 the rest I bought at a comic book store for $9 per 100. There is some on Amazon for around$13 if there are no comic stores near you .oh and the boards are white thin cardboard that comic book collectors use to back the comics before putting them in the plastic bags. Its keeps them from bending.

janetter 02-29-2012 03:26 PM

Very Nice and love how all you thread looks like a rainbow splashed across the wall

I sewed at the kitchen table for years so I feel you. My kids were smalland I made all of their and my clothes and all of the curtains and bedspreads in the house and I even ran a sewing business off my table. I don't know how I did it .
Speaking of scraps... Do you all see that white hamper? Its full + there is a small round lidded trash can and a kitty litter bucket full to bursting behind it.. I started last night cutting strips and squares. I figure in a year or so I May be through.
I have 2 projects for other people coming up. One is a special wall hanging for a friend of my brothers(needs to be done Next Saturday !!! and I don't have the center yet) and the other is 2 tote bags for Japanese Chin Rescue a friend asked me to make. At least for those I have the whole month. lol Then I plan on working on the project that started this whole cleaning thing. I found it stuffed back behind baskets in the closet.
.

Glenda m 03-01-2012 07:54 AM

But you have your 301A up on a high shelf! Do you ever use her? I have three and love using them all!

Sewfine 03-01-2012 09:18 AM

Well organized. I love your thread rack, but here in Mississippi it is so dusty. I keep mines in a drawer.

SuzyQ 03-01-2012 10:58 AM

Very nice!

Suzy

damaquilts 03-01-2012 12:07 PM

I don't have to worry about dust here my brother keeps the house closed up and something running all the time. Drives me nuts. When he isn't home sometimes I open the windows. I thought about getting drawers for the threads but I like being able to see everything.I know I should worry about fading and such but life is short. I deal enough with my brothers paranoia without having my own. LOL

It was a gift from a friend because I was looking for something to take to classes when I start taking them. I have never fired it up yet. lol I love my Brother so much I use it for everything . I also have a 201,503,401,403 , I had to pack them away since I really didn't have space to put them out. I am sure if I had some place to put something out all the time I would use it more. Also my Brother has the automatic needle threader I think that's the biggest part. LOL

Bamagal 03-01-2012 01:59 PM

What a great idea - to take a picture to remind you! If I ever get my space organized think I will do the same and maybe it will inspire me to keep it up!

Tell me more about your table. Where did you get it? What Brand and model number is it? When to the quilt show in Hampton (my first) and was disappointed to not see anyone with them to sell.

I am assuming you are talking about the sewing machine table. It is one I bought a few years ago from Staples when I was in GA. It is adjustable and I used it that way for a long time. But I had my brother cut a good size hole in it , put a shelf under neath so I could set my machine in it. The inside cut edge was finished off it the iron on edging counter tops. We got that in Home Depot.

Jingle 03-06-2012 05:57 AM

You have a great sewing area. Enjoy!!!!!!!

It seemed that way to me too. Until I bit the bullet and got rid of some stuff first thing. I still have more to organize but they are all in little plastic drawers , the kind with wheels, so I am doing one draw at a time. Did my pencil drawer yesterday. :-)
I do these kinds of things on those days were Nothing seems to be going right. Yesterday it was everything I started I needed something for that I didn't have. lol So I clean. Makes me feel like I have at least accomplished something.

BluegrassGurl 03-08-2012 05:03 AM
